4th Gen What do you like most about Diamond, Pearl and Platinum?

[PokeCommunity.com] What do you like most about Diamond, Pearl and Platinum?

So, I hear a lot of praise for the 4th gen games, and most people I've seen wish for a remake for them! But for those of you watching this thread, what exactly are most appealing aspects about the gen 4 games? Do you continue to play the Gen 4 games, and why do you keep coming back to play them?

i like the semi 3d buildings and the pokemon introduced in gen 4
what do you like about it?

I tend to always go back to gen 4 games for pokemon challenges. The games still look decent and they are still difficult, so I tend to do no pokemon center or nuzlocke challenges on Platinum or Soulsilver rather than gen 1, 2, or 3.

I think Game Freak handled the switch from the Gameboy to DS pretty well and the Pokemon and difficulty of these games was really good! What I like most about these games is the locations that Sinnoh introduces, I think they're some of the most memorable places in the Pokemon world, and the games let you traverse them in a great way - travelling across the region to the three different lakes!

Haven't played them in years honestly, but I definitely have a lot of fond memories with DPPL - I was just old enough to really understand the finer aspects of Pokemon, but I was young enough to have a lot of innocent fun with the games as well. I really hope they do a remake for them soon. (and that they do them justice... please nintendo!)

I'd say I most like how pretty and vivid they are. The visuals were beautiful back then - I somehow always thought Black and White looked dark, bleak and gloomy after the happy bright colours of DPPt. Not to mention the move animations: they were very smooth and pretty. I enjoy just looking at battles in those games very much. Also, you had ball capsules to add even more fun visual elements to your Pokémon.

Gen 5 had zooming in, but with sprites made of a limited amount of pixels, it didn't always look very nice

Above all, I really like the jazz-esque music; it was really beautiful to hear during those winter times when we just curl up under a blanket with the fire place roaring on. Ah, and I think the challenge was relatively fun too; the important fights weren't that tough, but can mess you up unprepared.

Oh man what is there not to like? The story (yes!), the atmosphere, the pokemon (ok actually the new pokemon were not very exciting), the MUSIC and the cute DS pixel aesthetics. They truly are amazing games.

I think maybe the music is the absolute best. So iconic and smooth.
