I've found that, surprisingly often, i'll encounter a real-life scenario where i know exactly what to do, say or write - and all thanks to Pokemon.

I was recently reminded of the awesome educational power of Pokemon when today i encountered a sentence that included the word "protean", and, because i knew how Greninja's ability worked, i could figure out what it meant as an actual word! (For the record, its definition is something along the lines of "versatile".) And when my friends asked how the hell i knew the meaning of that word, i just turned to them and said, "Uh... I saw it in Pokemon." Best moment ever.

So, i wondered, has anyone else had similar experiences where knowledge of Pokemon put them at an advantage in a real-life situation?

    I now know that:

-When a building is claiming to be a souvenir shop by telling me that it is "Just A Souvenir Shop", that there is "No Need To Be Suspicious" and there is "No Need To Be Alarmed", then it probably isn't a souvenir shop.

-Talking to an old man and then flying to an island has disastrous consequences.

-No matter how strong or dangerous they are, a criminal will stop everything they're doing if you knock out their Pokemon.

-You cannot physically run without special shoes.

-It is perfectly acceptable to walk into someone's house uninvited and look around.

-The authorities are completely fine with small children running around with highly dangerous legendary Pokemon capable of killing people.

-The police are completely useless, spending their time challenging random kids to battles instead of pursuing criminals.

-A small bird can carry a human across an entire continent.

Although not what i expected, these answers are hilarious.

That if I'm grumpy, I need coffee.

On a more serious note, I've definitely learned that you don't have to be like everyone else and use the best or most well known or well liked things in order to succeed in life. Aka, the strongest and "best" pokémon. You can find your way in a much more harmonious or exciting way using your odd favorites. Aka doing what you know is right for you, no matter what others say. :3

I remember when I was much younger, I learned many words thanks to pokemon. I can't recall them right now, unfortunately. I also remember being extremely perplexed as to why the Elite 4 had 5 people in it.

Both Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon have taught me strategy.
Pokemon has also taught me that THE LAWS OF PSYCHICS CAN BE BROKEN!

I actually learned how to speak English properly through Pokemon. Back when my family used to lived in my country though I could say a few words it was really through watching the American dub of the anime that I learned to pronounce a lot of words properly and say a few sentences too. This really is one of the reasons I guess why Pokemon is such a big part of my nostalgia since it helped a major part of my life, and it made me settling in England a hella lot easier.

Pokemon's taught me that walking in knee-high grass without Pokemon of your own could be a fatal mistake.

While I can't attribute it to Pokemon entirely, it did help teach me patience, at least as far as video games are concerned. Trying to catch legendary Pokemon, grinding to level up your Pokemon, looking for roaming legendaries, etc. all require some degree of patience, which I probably had little of prior to playing the Pokemon games.

The mainly thing that pokémon taught me are, team work and also that it doesn't matter whether you are young or old, big or small, thin or fat, you can always trust in your partner.

Pokémon taught me that there are countless ways to obtain power if you look hard enough to name one lesson.
