There are ways to make it a bit more reasonable, but imagine your joy when you find a Pokemon that's so rare. Not just 1/100, or 1/500, but 1/8000 chance to be seen. It's one of the best feelings you can get in Pokemon, I'm sure :P
A nice feeling, though it seems fleeting. :\ And I can anticipate that it must get annoying seeing others with a box full of legitimate shiny Pokemon, when you've yet to encounter even
one (not counting the Lake of Rage's Red Gyarados or the pre-programmed Battle Frontier shinies).
On the flipside, it must be the worst when you can't catch it for whatever reason.
I'm yet to encounter one myself. :(
Yeah...I've been fortunate to encounter more than one shiny Pokemon in my Pokemon Trainer career, but I've lost nearly all of them. The only one I have at the moment is a shiny Whismur from Hoenn's Desert Underpass.
I think it would be nice if the
1/8192 shiny probability rate were lowered to
1/2048 or 1/1024 (keeping in with the 'powers of two' motif). Employing the Masuda Method during Pokemon breeding would result in recalculated rates of
1/512 and 1/256, respectively (using the same "divide by 4" calculation of the Masuda method's modified rate of 1/2048 from the original 1/8192). Also, it
really wouldn't hurt to bring back the PokeRadar application of the Poketch in another format...maybe an additional C-Gear feature for
Gray Version.
If necessary, shiny Pokemon can be rare, but not
that rare to the point where a large amount of people have never even managed to sight one in-game. A reduction in the current shiny Pokemon rate(s) could be beneficial for the Pokemon experience...
