5th Gen Where does the Fifth Gen Games rank among your favourites?

i have not started 5th gen, and have trouble getting motivated to. those 5th gen starters just look terrible. if i do try 5th gen i'll do it with a hacked game so i can choose chimchar.
 
5th gen is one of my most favorites (along with HG/SS) due to how great they add some small additions and lots more.

I would say that B2/W2 is my most favorite due to how they improve a lot on Unova and B/W being my third most favorite due to the new changes they added compared with previous games.
 
Sadly, this is my least favorite generation. I was mostly disappointed when it got announced, I don't like the designs of most Pokemon and I was not fond of Unova region as well too. Never finished Black.
 
This generation, sadly, was my second least favorite generation. This is just a "retelling" of Generation I that has almost literally nothing to do with Generation I. This generation a huge step, TOO huge. They decided to never include the Pikachu family (WHO WOULD WANT TO ABANDON THE FREAKING MASCOT OF THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE), Abra, Magikarp, and a bunch of other ones I needn't explain.

Also, it's basically a 3D Kanto. It starts back at Route 1, has at least 150 Pokémon (which aren't related to other Pokémon from other generations. Really?), and even has a villainous team who plots on taking over the region! I'm also a little disappointed they didn't include anything like a Battle Frontier (Battle Subway just dumbs it down) and the fact that the PokéDex doesn't make sense at all. If only 156 Pokémon are native to the old Unova Dex, why the heck are Gens I-IV Pokémon just hanging around in the grass? Why do they also appear while fishing? Was Professor Juniper too lazy to check on the the other routes? It's also kinda sad that they didn't give the player characters much character development, either.

However, this generation brought a few things that were good. One example of this...
...is Palpitoad. What? Can't a guy have a favorite Pokémon?

Also, it introduced a LOT of competitive versatility, with cool new items and abilities.

I guess that's all I can say for now.
 
The fifth generation games is rank three on my list of favorites. Pokémon White 2 is my favorite game from the generation though. I started playing through it again a few days ago.
 
Contrary to most of those who were not-so-much fans, 5th Gen actually stood at the top of my fave generations. I loved the unique designs and types of the new Pokemon, the characters were very memorable, and B2/W2's postgame gave me so much to do to keep me playing for a long time.
 
Generation 5 is my favorite generation, I like that it got rid of all of the old pokemon because lore wise it was too far away. Sure B2W2 had them pop up, but those games were direct sequels taking place years after added a little leeway. I liked that the villain team wasn't outright evil, and actually had you question whether what you were doing was right. I liked Reshy and Zeky, two dragons destined to duel...

Gen5 gets a bad rep, but whatever. They are the best.
 
Gen 5 is really good. Aged pretty well, not cancer to use like Gen III. Probably my overall favourite generation.
 
This is my all time favorite generation. I enjoyed all of the Pokemon designs, the story was great imo, and the post game in BW2 is phenomenal compared to XY and ORAS. BW2 stands as my favorite Pokemon game tied with Platinum overall.
 
I don't know which one I prefer between this generation and the second one. But I surely enjoy this game most than every other games. I played this generaiton so much... But the G/S/C will always be my favorite games I think... But still, 5th gen is pretty close. I loved the game, all of them, the story, and even if it's not the best Pokemons, there is a lot of them I love.

I am glad to see that there is a lot of people here who loved this generation!! I thought I was the only one lol. This generation got so much hate... :(
 
I haven't played much of Black 2 but after I played Black and White I can happily say that this is least favourite Generation so many I absolutely hated about this Gen especially that the lack of Pokémon from previous gens were made worse by the fact that the majority of Gen 5 Pokémon I dislike and completive being not as enjoyable as Gen 4 due to Weather Wars and Politoed and despite that completive is the thing that I got the most fun out of which while I do enjoy completive for the most part the most fun I get out of a Gen is the adventure of the Main games but Unova was just bland and boring.
 
I can't include BW2 in my rankings unfortunately since i never really got a chance to play but as for BW it would rank very highly in terms of story and the additions it made, top 2 for sure, with probably only ORAS/RSE topping it.

Story/Region as a whole rankings (by region since remakes use same story and regions essentially): 1. Hoenn (ORAS/RSE, 2. Unova (BW), 3. Sinnoh (DPPt) 4. Johto (GSC/HGSS) 5. Kalos (XY) 6. Kanto (RBY/FRLG)

In terms of Pokemon though, it ranks very poorly, coming in dead last. There was just something that caused essentially all the Unova Pokemon to be forgettable to me. Looking at my top 50 favorite Pokemon list, Unova comes in with a measly 4 Pokemon on that list, illustrating my stance on the region's Pokemon

Pokemon rankings (based off region and what region they were introduced in) 1. Sinnoh (DPPt) 2. Kalos (XY) 3. Johto (GSC/HGSS) 4. Hoenn (ORAS/RSE) 5. Kanto (RBY/FRLG) 6. Unova (BW)

Now taking those two rankings, my overall rankings will take the average finish of each of the regions to give their overall position in my mind. I will due this by generations but only in reference to the region that was newly introduced in said generation. For example Gen VI = Kalos and XY not ORAS which would fall under Gen III in my mind with RSE since they use the same story and Pokemon essentially for all intents and purposes for these rankings in my head.

So my final rankings are 1. Gen IV (avg. finish = 2), 2. Gen III (avg. finish = 2.5) 3. Tie b/w Gen II and VI (avg. finish = 3.5), 5. Gen V (avg. finish = 4), 6. Gen I (avg. finish = 5.5)

So with that Gen V comes in at my 5th favorite generation (ironic haha) though not very far off the pace of Gens II and VI.
