Which old game is the best to replay for you?

It's gotta be Emerald or Platinum, really.

GSC/HGSS are my favourite games, for sure. But in terms of a decent regional dex, an engaging story and a worthwhile postgame, Emerald and/or Platinum comes out on top.
Story's fun to play through, and by the end if you want to invest further, the Frontier in each game is loads of fun.

I know HGSS has Kanto and Platinum's Frontier, but the poor level-curve kinda makes it suffer overall, and it's a little too much of a grind fest in the postgame. That's a shame because generally HGSS are impeccable remakes if you're looking to invest a lot of time in a game, but I think Platinun would scratch the itch better overall.

I like replaying red/blue and Blk&Wht 1&2. I know the orignals have all their flaws but the pacing and story makes it fun. Plus the I like the charm of the retro pixel art and the music / sound effects.🥰

Also big thing is Gen 1 and Gen 5 are my favorites for individual Pokemon.

For me it's pokemon BW2 becus 1 the story great with Hugh your rivals it's like he doing a story like protagonists story but on his version 2 memory link its a feature which if you have 2 Ds and have pokemon black or white on ds 1 completes story and other one done you can do the memory link which the well very hard to pull off if you play on emu mobile or PC probably but it's really worth becus you can see what happeds to gym leader after 2 years and there story behind them like why? The triples brother quit or etc and also gained to catch N pokemon yes I mean your rivals N pokemon from black and white on which routes and I loved it's alot! 3 alot of legendary yes cressila become a legendary instead of mythical becus of BW2 but you can get the lake trio, heatran, kyruem, zekrom or reshiram, and the Regis trio and regigigas if you own both games becus well you can get regi rock both games but the ice and steel isn't version exclusives and also difficulty which kinda dumb becus its need after the Champions and than can used and if you restart the games the key gone (only if you completes it's again)

Depends on what you want. If you care more about fighting, you go to Unova games since its one of the harder regions, or PSMD if you want a game where you can get your behind handed to you almost as fast as you would in many SMT games. If you care about atmosphere, you go to Johto games for that. If you care for story, then you will play any PMD game except Gates to Infinity I guess.

But if you want the absolute best games possible, you play HG/SS or Explorers of Sky.

I do not recommend 3D Pokemon games as it is in Gen VI forward where many of the handholding patterns & loading times start showing up. Hell, if you live in US, need to have a 3DS monster collection game/RPG & aren't afraid of difficulty in games... just play Shin Megami Tensei IV instead. It runs better, has a physical release, is quite a bit more challenging & is honestly not as hard to learn as people make it out to be... its difficulty is just built differently.

Spoiler:

Gen 5 is my go to. It has the most updated specs, special/physical split and amazing story to follow. The characters are great and in bw 2 the Pokemon you have access to give the player so many options in terms of team building. I love this gen ! A solid runner up for me is gen 4 !

No matter what I always gravitate myself back to Gold/Silver/Crystal (the Game Boy Days). Most recently I've been thinking of replaying Black/White.

But definitely Gen 2 games. They are the highlight of my history with Pokemon.

Personally, out of the old games my favorite is gen 2. Idk, I think it's kinda magical how there's the entire region of the previous game for you to explore in the post-game, so it's a two for one deal lol. I really wish they'd do this again one day, but I know it's a pipe dream, sadly :((
I also love the old sprites, they were able to fit so much charm and personality in such limited sizes! I really admire the graphics of these games.
Hard to say. I personally just can't get back to the pre-physical/special split era, so that discards all the gen 1-3 games for me.
I'm the opposite of that xD I unironically love how broken gens I and II were (even when they were actually working as intended without the bugs), it's so nonsensical and that kinda loops around and makes the battles extremely fun for me!

I know them really well and can pay them easily on my phone with a fast forward fuction.
THIS!!! My favourites are gen 1 games and their gen 3 remakes! Most of the music feels a lot more better in the original, such as Lavender Town. The original starters are my favourite starters. Kanto is my favourite region. My introduction to pokemon was through pokemon anime (original series), so that adds some bias too. And Red is just the coolest of the protagonists to me, throughout the whole franchise :) Music is fun. Gym leaders hit different. Everything basically - I love it! Gen 1 has better music and arguably better vibe while gen 3 is more colorful and has my favourite postgame! Remakes also have better sprites, such as Red's trainer card sprite. And E4 is fun. Professor Oak is my favourite professor. And ending the game against your rival is the best thing to me. There's so much, I just love them!
Others are also pretty excellent, though-
Platinum is fun because GIRARINAAA and Mt.Coronet and music and etc. Another important thing, though, is SNOW and stuff. Gen 4 comes after Gen 1 to me. Then there's gen 3 with so much water and diving and weather trio and team Aqua vs Magma quest and all that. There's also Gen 2 with the solid setting in Johto: Ecruteak says it all. Also Kanto for post-game :D and other things. 2.5 B/W and B2W2 are pretty fun too. So yahh
