This was so unexpected, she's now going into what I classify as "dead music".

Every time a singer dies, it goes into my "dead music" classification and when a song like that comes on, I change my radio channel immediately.

I think she met her demise cos of those ****in drugs.

"I Will Always Love You" is officially off my playlist.

R.I.P. to such a treasured and successful songstress.

You... stop listening to music when the artist is dead? That's terrible and incredibly disrespectful.

But yeah, RIP Whitney. Idk what else to say really. This was so unexpected.

Yeah I know it's weird but I want to write those songs out of my playlists cos they don't exist (well, no longer exists).

I only listen to music when the vocals behind it are still existent.

She was so young, only 48 when she died. It's very tragic. She had an amazing voice and will be forever remembered for it. My parents were fans and I listened to her quite a bit growing up, so her death kind of hits home for me. R.I.P. Whitney Houston.

A song doesn't die with the singer...? In fact, her voice will be immortalized in a way through her music. Or at least, that's how I see it.

I'm not really into the music thing so I was never a huge fan of Whitney Houston, though everybody knows that name. It's so tragic that she died so young - I can't believe she was only 48! From the way everybody talks about her it seemed like she's been around for far longer than that.

R.I.P Whitney

This has been the first death in a while from a public figure that made me cry. I'm really speechless. I don't listen to her music much, but she means a lot to me and my family as my parent's wedding song was one of hers.

And Etta James only checked out a few weeks ago so I see some coincidence or something (James lived much longer).
You're disgusting.

Another talent gone way too soon.

This is such a shame. I found this out on Twitter, thought and hoped it was fake, (because twitter has been doing fake celebrity deaths lately as trending topics...) but it obviously wasnt.

RIP to Whitney. A true performer and talented woman, who just lost her way a bit, but will always be remembered as being a true talent.

She's a household name here. I can't believe she passed, and at such a young age. RIP Whitney Houston, you'll be in our hearts forever. :(

Another talented person gone too soon.

I was shocked when I heard it over MSN. I hoped it would turnout to be fake. Then I received a call and realized it was true. I cried a little over this too. I still remember her in the version of Cinderella with Brandy...

She will be missed and forever immortalized with her voice though her music that we have. RIP, Whitney.

I think she met her demise cos of those ****in drugs.

Is that really necessary? I'm not one to care about swearing, but in regards to the death of a legend, this is completely inappropriate.

Anyway, I heard this news on the radio on my way home last night, and I nearly cried. It's tragic this happened, and she was so young too. I've had "I Will Always Love You" stuck in my head ever since, actually. RIP Whitney. I...don't really have much else to say.

It's terrible, Whitney (while flawed) was a truly amazing woman and some of my favourite songs are sung by her. It's terrible that she's passed on - I hope that people are blessed with her music for many years to come!

R.I.P Whitney Houston.

Bittersweet memories
that is all I'm taking with me.
So, goodbye. Please, don't cry.
We both know I'm not what you, you need.

I learned the tragic news on Saturday while ABC was airing a Valentine-themed Charlie Brown special. It's weird...you (I am using "you" in the general sense here) "think" that such well-known people will always be around, and then without warning, the individual passes away. I enjoyed/still enjoy some of Whitney Houston's songs, such as "How Will I Know" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)", and I hope that they help Houston's legacy to transcend her lifetime.

Ms. Houston's wonderful cover of "I Will Always Love You" has been played frequently on one of my local radio stations over the years... Even though it may have felt "overplayed" at times, the vocals in that song astound me nearly every time; I'm glad that my ears were graced with the privilege to hear such a powerful singing voice. Fittingly, I presume it will probably receive play tomorrow on the day that many people choose to prominently celebrate love, Valentine's Day.

Also, while my memory of Houston's role in the Cinderella movie that she participated in may have been muddled, I believe that I knew of her presence by reading the credits the first time I watched it, and the movie was a rather enjoyable experience.

Rest in perfect peace, Whitney Houston, and thanks for producing such treasures of your work in the music industry. May God help to comfort everyone (family, friends, fans, and anyone else affected) devastated by Ms. Houston's passing.
