I usually tend to pick the same Starter for my first playthrough in any series. For subsequent playthroughs, I choose a different one.

As you can see, there were only a few times where I didn't pick the Fire-type starter, although I've come to like Feraligatr and Greninja more than Typhlosion and Delphox since playing those games.

My choice of starter from the original games is still pretty fresh in my mind. Not listing the "third" game choices because I honestly don't remember any of those aside from the obvious Pikachu. By the time the third games came out I had already been through the original versions numerous times (with all starters) that choice didn't matter much to me.

Out of all of these the only ones I finished were Yellow, Crystal and Y. Most of the others either got corrupted, I lost interest in them or haven't gotten around to finishing them, with X I only bought it to shiny hunt the exclusives, same with AS.

Ruby/Sapphire: In Sapphire I think I had Torchic, because it's my first choice and I know I played Sapphire first; in Ruby I believe I picked Mudkip, because I really don't like Treecko lol
FireRed: I believe I went with Charmander again, favorite gen I starter through and through
