I think they appear like that if you have zoom activated in your screen aka magnified.
It happened to me when I tried to zoom the images, when I returned it to normal (100%) the pictures loaded without problems

Its like Chr. Draco said, it depends on your zoom. For me, using Edge solved the problem, as it is able to handle these images on "default zoom", unlike the browser I was using before that. However I later managed to get it to break on Edge by zooming in and then refreshing the page. So I assume that while some browsers may be better suited for this than others, it ultimately comes down to how much you are zoomed in before trying to load the page. If its not working even at the default settings, you can still try to zoom out.

All I know is... other variations of Bulbapedia but in different languages? For example, Pokémon Central Wiki (the italian version of bulba) seems to show those images more easily than Bulbapedia - they load faster and are better organized! But the site is in italian...

Had the same issue (the same images broken regardless of browser), and the only thing that works for me is the mobile version of bulbapedia on my laptop: https://m.archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Category:Pok%C3%A9mon_Dream_World_artwork (notice the m. at the start of the URL).

I wish I had done the 4th and 5th bonus puzzles. I did have an inkling that if was those two, but wasn't sure, so didn't go for it. I need to try to solve more of these, they're really making me smile.

Feels slightly better about Puzzle #5. Would have been bummed for Growlithe/Arcanine or another heavily-inspected Pokemon. Definitely looked at Houndour. Never registered. Focused too high, probably.

Found Shiny Greninja quickly, thanks to its deep black. Narrowed it down quickly. Spent ages on Bonus Puzzle #7, however, despite the distinct green. Misunderstood where the image was taken from. Zeroed in on the wrong spot. Stopped on the right Pokemon and rejected it multiple times.
