Etrian Odyssey is acquired taste. I honestly wouldn't recommend it if you don't know what you're getting yourself into.

You can't go wrong with A Link Between Worlds. It's between that game or Kid Icarus Uprising as the best 3DS game imo.

I've never played any Kid Icarus game. Would I still like it?

So I'm gonna get a PS2 very soon, at $25 with two controllers, so I wanted to know what are some great games you guys would recommend for me. I'm into RPGs, action, shooters the most but other great games are welcome too!
Check out Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne for an RPG and Metal Gear Solid 3 for action/shooter. My two favourites of the system, and the latter game is a masterpiece.

The game is pretty independent of previous Kid Icarus games (minus some jokes, but you won't miss them). As for the game itself, it's amazing, top class and you will love it; if you can like the controls that is. I can't really recommend you the game since the controls are so polarizing and I know many hate it while others love it, so it depends, but if you can get used to the controls then yeah for sure. It's easily the best the 3DS has to offer.

If you don't mind spicing that RPG up with some Strategy seasoning, pretty much any Nippon Ichi developed title released on the system is worth your time. Of them, I'd say Phantom Brave is my personal favorite (and is also my personal favorite Strategy game), while Disgaea 2 is also great. Soul Nomad and the World Eaters is the most unique of the titles among them and is likely bit like any game you've played before.

On the Action RPG front, I highly recommend .Hack and its sequel G.U...or I would, but those game's are expensive as hell and there's no other system to play them on. Still, if you get the chance, I'd give 'em a look.

As for Turn-Based RPGs...well...Persona 4. If you have a Vita, nevermind, if you don't though, I'd give it a look. The Vita version offers a lot of improvements and additions, and it also adds changes both big and small that make P4 for the PS2 something of a unique experience. And really, in terms of RPGs, you can't go wrong with Shin Megami Tensei, as during this era they had quite a bit to offer. The PS2 Persona series is a lite-Dungeon Crawler crossed with a school/life sim (Though in the case of Persona 3, "lite" would be an understatement, and grinding is your best friend), the Kuzunoha series is basically Shin Megami Tensei's take on Youkai Watch if it was an Action RPG, The Digital Devil Saga games are an interesting return to form for the series with something of a dark reversal as far as protagonist role goes, and Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne, which Spino can vouch for (and has). So there's a lot there to sift through.

For those of you who never venture into the LP forum, you should check out the Let's Watch thread! We're getting together tomorrow to watch Let's Plays, and it would be nice to get some more videos on the queue. Don't be shy now!

I was curious about Harvest Moon- The Lost Valley, but haven't seen very good reviews. Anybody play it?

So I found out through an e-mail I got today that the game Disney Infinity is going to be coming out with a version 3.0. Now that version seems quite interesting to to me since that version is going to focus on Star Wars characters.

i saw that too. i'm not sure how that is going to work with the new lego dimensions game coming out. i don't think lego will be able to release lego star wars characters since disney infinity is making 3.0
the war is on. disney infinity 3.0 or lego dimensions.

Going by past experience, I'd be inclined to pick Disney Infinity...at least it'll work. Every single LEGO game has been filled with highly aggravating glitches that make getting 100% a nightmare; I doubt Dimensions will be any different...and it probably won't get patched either. It's a shame, because asides from that - and the voice acting they've added with more recent titles, which ruined the spirit of the games in my opinion - they're a hell of a lot of fun...

Humble Store is having a pretty huge sale for the spring right now! Different sales every day for 2 weeks. Some pretty cool stuff like Wasteland 2, Don't Starve Complete, and Prison Architect is on sale right now, and some of yesterday's sales are still on for a couple more hours.

Man, Final Fantasy X-2 kinda lacks a lot of the lustre that FFX had. Game is slightly dragging, but if there's anything to praise here it's the battle system. Crazy fun. Also a fan of how each area updates after everything you do so you can go and see what's there. And catching up on key characters and areas to see what everyone's up to after the calm is cool.

Not to mention that there's lots to do and that Tidus isn't a character.

Plus I'd say, as a whole, the story of X-2 is a lot more hard hitting- certainly moreso than the story Tidus keeps shoving in your face in X, but I'd also say moreso than Yuna's as well. Writing-wise and early on I'd say it's not as good, but I think the climax and in retrospect it had more of an impact.

The beginning of that game was what turned me off it completely. :/ Like...I even gave it a chance, but I just couldn't. I tried again. There was no way. I think I barely got past the first area before I was like "welp I'm utterly bored of this already time to put it back in its case and totally forget about it again."

Although it's been years since I tried playing, assuming I didn't ruin my disc by leaving it between the wall and my desk for years (I didn't even notice it was stuck there for the longest while, ah ha) maybe I should take that back out and give it another chance.

idk, probably doesn't help one bit that I haven't been impressed with any FF game in recent times except FF14 (which of course I can't play it unless I decide to pay for that month or more, grrr).

I remember when AC was actually a good series. Great, even. It never needed to be a yearly franchise and it's just getting tired and ridiculous at this point.

I'm playing through Black Flag right now and it's a good game. Much better than 3 was (although that's not hard), but I can't help but feel that I'd enjoy it a lot more if Revelations and 3 hadn't burned me out on the series. Even after taking almost two years to pick up Black Flag after beating 3, I'm still getting that "Yup, it's AC..." feeling.

Annualized game franchises in general just need to stop. Not only does it water down the series and makes them get old and bland really fast, it really makes for a bland fall release schedule. You get your yearly AC, your yearly CoD, and everything else either gets pushed away from that release window or releases anyway and gets overshadowed. Basically, every single fall has pretty much become the same games, year after year, and it's really been stifling any and all innovation in the industry.

AC is one of those popular series that never really engaged me, much like the Zelda Series. Like I know that they're good, I just can't get into them.
