Wisdom Theeth

i literally just went to the doctor to set my wisdom teeth removal up for the summer, its not that bad dude. the stuff they give you, is like you getting high, you'll wont be able to feel anything, and you'll probally be sayin wacky things and crap like that. its not bad trust me, only after the medicine wears off do ya feel pain about 6 hours after the surgery
 
I don't mind a little pain when my first wisdom tooth came out, but since topical type of anesthesia is becoming a popular choice to those who want to.
 
From my experience, there's nothing to worry about. I have a fear of needles and had never been put under in my life up until I got my wisdom teeth removed. The IV that they put in was near-painless. It didn't sting like the needles used for shots. The sleep deal was almost identical to when you normally sleep. I have no recollection of the exact moment when I fell asleep. However, when I woke up, it didn't feel like I was out for too long.

I was pretty groggy for the rest of the day, but it wore off by about dinner time, where I ate a small meal. Everything felt normal the next day with the help of pain meds.
 
The problem with that is that you should not let things scare you that easy. Its a problem because you might build a psychological resistance or a predisposition to expect for it to go wrong and it might. If you are cool headed and just go through with it then it will be fine. Plus yeah they have injections which might not be a bad option to do. I wouldn't be put to sleep unless it was major surgery. The only bad thing about the injection is that your mouth ends up sorta paralyzed for some time and you can some times drool a lot afterward. But thats just a funny point. Do what you need to do just keep in mind not to panic or think about bad things that could happen. Just think about being finally done with it. BTW its the after thats a true pain..

If you're so scared about this injection, why don't you just ask to be put to sleep or have some laughing gas. It's not against the law you know Oo

Random information:

The numbing injection doesn't work on me. D: I went to go get my moler pulled out, they gave me 8 shots of Novocain. 2 of which were directly into the vain. Never kicked in, five nurses and my mom had to hold me down while the dentist pulled out my tooth. And they couldn't just stop, it was already half way pulled out and bleeding. >:

I have enough room for my wisdom teeth, and they are growing in just fine. ^_^

I also remember being put to sleep for wrist surgery. For some reason, I remember trying to wake up in my sleep, but not being able to. lol
 
Well howdy ho, I just got mine out on Tuesday so lemme share some of the tidbits that've helped me.

The number 1 thing to do is talk with your dentist. If you're going to be put completely under, tell them you're nervous and afraid. It's their job to make you feel comfortable and yeah. xD; I've been put under before but this surgery really scared the crap out of me and I just talked it through, explained stuff like how I throw up easily and asked if I could have some anti nausea medication so I wouldn't get sick. They were totally cool about it and I even got a free blanket ;3; IT WAS SO WARM.

As far as afterwards, you won't remember much and they sit by you to make sure you don't wake back up til they want you to. When you do wake up, you won't be 'awake awake' for an hour or so or at least I wasn't. XD;; I just went home and slept more, that's all I wanted to do.

As far as afterwards, make sure to eat only what they tell you can eat. AND NO STRAWS. >:C

n_n it may seem scary but in the long run it'll help you and it's not a 'huge' surgery. :3

Well, I had to get four teeth pulled, and well, yeah. I didn't get put to sleep, just some horrible tasting numbing agent. Being put to sleep sounds dope, though.

But, the dentist can't do anything that you don't want. But, if they recommend something, it is probably for the best, And, the chances that the sleeping stuff would just paralyze you, is very slim to none. It'll never happen to you.
 
I dunno about going to sleep.. but I was awake.. and they didn't put enough numbing in me so halfway through I could feel it. They had to stop to stick another needle in my mouth.
:/ It wasn't the feeling that bugged me.. it was the cracking sound and the fact that they had to drill into part of my bone to get that thing out. It was huge. I couldn't eat for a week. I was taking 3 heavy duty painkillers. I couldn't close my mouth all the way for three days so I had to shove a wad of tissue in my mouth at night to sleep because swallowing hurt and I didn't want to bloodily drool all over the mattress.


Oh yeah. And I need to get my left side out next. :/
Bad experience.

...I hardly think that Oprah is a show with a sparkling track record for not exaggerating, especially when it comes to everyday things. :/

If you are this worried and frightened, talk to your Mum and talk to your dentist. The latter is the best person to reassure you, and like others have said, you go to sleep and wake up in what seems to you to be the same instant. It's a very, very rare case that the anaesthetic does not work correctly, and they are going to make sure you are knocked out properly before they try anything.

The numbing injection isn't safe. I had a bad experience. When the thing went in, My brain and vision just went caput for about 5 seconds. Then everything came back, but I was still dazed. At least I was numbed.

Sorry if I'm scaring you, but belive me, it's better to go through it all. Or else, the pain will just get unbearble.
