Would you be angry if somebody you didn't know made your birthday thread?

Dear PC citizens, as most of us already know...to celebrate a birthday, somebody—preferably somebody we actually KNOW—would create a thread in the Celebrations forum which would then hold many birthday wishes by other good-natured members.

But here's the gist of what I'm asking you. Some people, most notably some moderators would see a random member, whom they are in no way acquainted with whatsoever, make their thread. It could be that they planned a close friend or a loved one to make it at a certain time and some random person came along and snatched it. Or it could be that they did not expect anything like that whatsoever.

So I ask this, would you be angry if somebody you didn't know made you a birthday thread? Have you felt incredibly annoyed at some point when somebody made you a thread that you had planned to be made by somebody close to you?

Or do you not feel that way at all? If, like me, you feel that anybody who takes a bit of their time to think of you and make a thread to commemorate your birthday is being thoughtful? Perhaps, like me, you would feel that what they would do is incredibly sweet and make yourself feel loved in a way you never truly imagined?

You know, I was reading the celebrations rules and came across the last rule. I never noticed it before, but you have to ask someone you're going to make a thread for if you can make their thread. So technically, if someone makes your thread when you want someone else to, they're breaking the rules and their thread can be locked. :o

But yes, yes, it happened to me before and I got very angry because someone else was supposed to make it. Needless to say, I didn't reply.

I'd prefer it if it's someone I cared about, but I love letting people know it's my bday so I don't hide it /weird.

Personally, I wouldn't have an issue. I just think it's sweet that they would notice and take the trouble, and I don't bother myself with worrying about whether my friends were going to do it or not. It's not like I expect them to.

I mean, it's a special day. I wouldn't really want someone I didn't know making my thread.
It just seems a little rude and not at all right, but that's just me.

A thread is better than no thread on your birthday I suppose.

If I ever do want a birthday thread, I would ask want someone I know, or one of the P.C staff, to make one.

Contrarily, I think I'd be thankful ..even if it is somebody I don't really know. Acquaintance or not.
But I would however, like to get my birthday thread made by someone closer to me.
It's never happened, so hmm..

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if a stranger here made my birthday thread because I know that there's at least another person who knows my birthday.

Personally, I'd prefer if a friend makes mine, whether they ask me or not (screw the rules for a moment here). But if the "random" person is someone I've seen around the comm. (but haven't talked with) and has a good rep., I guess I wouldn't mind either, though I'd be curious as to why they made it.

I actually really wouldn't mind it either way. Even if I don't know the person, it's always sweet to get random Birthday wishes from them. And I figure, they went through the effort to make a thread, so it's even nicer. =]

You see, I have the misfortune of sharing a birthday with one of PC's most respected and well-liked Staff Admins, albeit I'm three years older than him. So every time my birthday comes around, Jake absorbs all the attention. XD

It depends on how well I know the person or how well the person knows me.
I mean, it'd be nice if someone who I didn't know very well did something like that.. but that's just creepy.

To be completely honest I don't check the celebrations section, so unless somebody actually told me about it I probably wouldn't even know that a birthday thread had been made for me.

But no, to answer your question, I'm not bothered who makes the thread.

I'd be kinda flattered if someone I didn't know had made my thread for me...but I guess that for all the staff, it happens a bit more often and with a bit more of a brown nosing intent :P
