For you, what was the worst Video Game experience that you've ever had?

Note, this doesn't necessarily mean what was the worst video game that you've played, but this topic is focused more upon your general experience with each and every video game that you've played as a whole.

Think about this: perhaps there was a time that you were stuck on a level, and you've almost pulled your hair out trying to beat it? Or maybe there was something within a video game that just outright peeved you enough to literally shake while your playing set moment? Perhaps playing a video game in general was a bad experience altogether? That's fine to think about too.

So, again, what was your worst experiences? How do you, or did you, overcome that experience, and would you dare replay that experience again? Feel free to share stories!

I have thankfully not played many bad games. I like to think I only buy good games that I know I'll enjoy haha. I don't get too adventurous with things...anyway, as far as disappointments go, I didn't like Yoshi's New Island. I was really looking forward to that game and it was a total let down. I traded it in for a much better game that didn't disappoint.

As for just plain awful and terrible games I've played, all I can really say are like...I guess random stuff on GBA I had as a kid. I love the HP3 game on GBA. Nice game for a book/movie port honestly. But you know what wasn't a good book/movie port? A Series of Unfortunate Events. Talk about leaving you in the dark. I remember it being a fetch quest for items that were just...insanely difficult to reach. The maps in the stages were just weird. I seriously hate stages that are supposed to be someone's home and there are a ton of shelves and floors and such everywhere. I know video games aren't realistic, but you're telling me developers can't make a house look like a HOUSE? Moving on, the game was just boring to play. Trying to find what you were looking for never worked. The only good thing it had going for it was switching characters and the children having different abilities and stamina bars.

For overall bad games...well...you can watch every game reviewer on YouTube for that and get better and funnier opinions on them. Some popular crapfests of games include Action 52, Two Worlds, Zelda CDi games, and the list goes on.

Oh and...let's be real. Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier shouldn't exist. I haven't played it because I want to spare myself the embarrassment.

In terms of awful games, there was this one JRPG I got for the PSP quite a while back. I forgot the name of it, but it looked really promising, with good art, I decent-sounding plot, and a seemingly decent battle system. The controls were weird as hell, the voice acting was horrendous (I'm not a huge fan of English dubbing in video games (with exceptions, of course), but this made dubbing jobs I hate sound good), the battle system was a pain, the soundtrack sucked, and the graphics weren't the best. Ended up returning the game not long after getting it.

In terms of bad gaming experiences, I had a bunch with Yellow when I was a kid, haha. First thought I was stuck in Cerulean when I couldn't get past the officer blocking the house because I missed something that I could only get upon restarting, then got stuck in Celadon a bunch of times for the same reason. Also was stupid enough to use the Master Ball on a Ponyta in one playthrough, and I ran away from Mewtwo because I needed to change boxes and thought it'd be there when I returned. Nowadays, I don't have too big an issue with games because I can just use GameFAQs or the ever-so-wonderful Google to figure out what I need to do. Though, I have tried to play some games without looking at guides and have had great difficulty doing so XD

A lot of these responses are just bad games, not games that you didn't enjoy the experience of. :(

Mine is more personal - my boyfriend is really into a lot of games and he's also into giving advice. I have this dumb thing where if someone pushes something on me, I automatically resist and like it less. He's very enthusiastic about his games, so he was pushing Advance Wars on me. I finally relented to play it, and was confused by some of the levels. If I ever mentioned my frustration, he would come over and tell me everything I was doing wrong and how to beat it. He was just trying to share his joy and knowledge of the game and I was doing things wrong (otherwise I wouldn't have been losing), but I ended up quitting the game because I was so annoyed that the levels were so hard and every level was "here, let me show you kindly how stupid you are" over and over.

It wasn't his fault! But it made me hate the game.

For me, I would have to say the kinda-a-fetch-quest-but-not-really fetch quest from Paper Mario: TTYD. Specifically, from Chapter 7 at Fahr Outpost. To even progress you have to go to pretty much everywhere you've already been, which is a pain if you don't have certain warp pipes unlocked yet. And at the end of it, the guy you've been looking for was in his house the whole time! At least you get to jump on him repeatedly until you leave his house.

Jumping on his head was pretty satisfyig though. Yeah, I hate that fetch quest too. But the rest of Chapter 7 was kickass, so I don't have too many problems. It's my favorite game afterall.

As for my worst experience, I would say Sonic 06's Final Chapter or the Silver Boss Battle. Both took me a good few months to beat it. Mainly the Final Chapter, because it is so, goddamn rage inducing, and they have the audacity to give you a time limit, or you automatically die. Silver doesn't need to be explained.

    It's no use.

    Final Fantasy XIII...
    I hate you so much.

It's near my birthday, I'm bored in Gamestop just browsing when I see IT on the shelf. After playing the older Final Fantasys and adoring the Tactics games I decide to give it a chance. It's near my birthday so I justified it through that, Paid my 60$ because it was brand new back then and Played it when I got home.

"What is this? The Future? I thought Final fantasy was suppose to be medieval steam Punk"
"What the heck is with these Stupid Blue robes?"
"A giant robot with Electrically charged Buzz Saws for hands, Stupid, But Awesome at the same time.
"WHY THE HECK IS THERE AN AUTO FIGHT BUTTON!?!?!?"

My thoughts zoomed by, This game being nothing like what I was expecting. I Swiftly grew bored with the Tutorial, Lasting a seemingly endless amount of time. So many needless battles were fought.

"Well, This can't be all bad. At least I'm getting experience."

NOPE! Apparently You don't get experience until AFTER the tutorial is over. So all those fights I did thinking I would get EXP for later? Pointless!

This is about the point I started hating the characters. Saz was the most tolerable but when you boil it down, He's just the Token Black Guy. Vanille was Tolerable for this games standards but put her in any other game and she would be annoying. Snow was only enjoyable becaue of how unbelievably stupid he was.

Lightning and Hope, All my aggression due to the boring game mechanics was being directed towards them. Hope quickly get irritating with his non stop whining and lightning barely even has a personality!

"Do these characters even know what they are doing? I've been wondering around aimlessly for the past 4 hours!"

The answer is no, and it's reinforced by the plethora of cut-scenes where they basically have the same conversation. "We need to find our focus" "What could our Focus be?" "This is our focus" "No, THIS is our focus" I feel like they're role-playing as the writers of this freaking game!

"What the heck is going on? What is that? What is that? I don't even know what I'm fighting!"

Well, This game has almost no exposition. You're expected to go read about it in a Data log if you wanna learn about it. And this isn't just 20, 30, 40 or so logs through out the game. When I gave up on there game, there had to be a good 100+ of them. And I stopped playing after about 9 hours!

The leveling system? Well you Press one button and you get more numbers. Just like the freaking Combat!

Eventually I got to play around with formation shifts or whatever they were but it was just too little too late. I was sick of the one button combat and tired of reading data logs. I finally laid the game to rest after I had enough.

I bought this game expecting an Old style RPG, What I got Was a mediocre movie that you need a dictionary to watch. I guess it was my fault for not reading reviews before buying but I thought I could trust the Final Fantasy name.

But hey, I just recently found a way to beat the game, I just have to care enough to put it into action.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Yeahhhh... Never Again.

I'm sure some of y'all know about one of my bad gaming experiences since I complained about it endlessly but it was when it took me like two or three weeks to beat the fourth boss (Megrez) in Devil Survivor 2. I was stubborn and a little clueless so that's why it took especially long. You had to defeat the enemy in a certain amount of turns, and every time you attacked it, the boss would change positions and restore some HP and it was immune to several attack types and it would have this one attack that damaged almost everyone on the field and it summoned little demon minions ugh @_@

The Last of Us was a poor example of a game. The game had problems plaguing it from the very beginning, buggy AI, ridiculous mechanics, and if you've read any science fiction at all, the story isn't new at all. I dare you to change my mind.

I couldn't for the love of me get through the boss of Hydrocity Zone Act 2 in Sonic 3. I was horrible at timing my jumps, and I could never keep a bubble shield for the whole level, so I was stuck with my lacking skill of the older Sonic games to try and push through. Luckily, I did beat the boss! After about 20 tries, though. Then in the 4th zone, Carnival Night Zone, I encountered the midboss of CNZ Act 1. It was absolute torture. Again, timing your jumps was necessary, along with having to keep focus on moving stuff...something I'm horrible at. Surprisingly enough, that damned barrel wasn't a problem for me during my playthrough.

I love the classic Sonic games, but I hated some of the parts of the stages.

Will upvote for Devil Survivor 2 as well... in my case it was the bad experience with beating the last boss... 3 forms and AOE that covers the whole field was too much, Atlus =D

And then... Sound Shapes... oh god that game... I hated the randomness of the note distribution...
I finished it within 2 days but it took me few rages.

For me it was constantly dying in Sonic Generations. Sonic games throw me off because it's advertised as going super fast but then the moment I run into a platforming section that involves patience and timing, my immersion is ruined and I constantly get a game over. It's very frustrating and I always rage quit playing the game lmao. I guess I'm just no good at Sonic games.

Aw, Advance Wars isn't really a bad game; it took me a while to get used to everything too, and I've played games like that, like Fire Emblem, etc, etc.

It does take time to master, sure~ Like, sometimes you should choose to go to a more defensive... oriented playstyle which does not hold well for me, haha. Since I do like to go out on fields, guns blazing, you know?

Back when I was 11, there was one specific puzzle in Megaman Battle Network 4 that I hate and that almost ruined the game for me. See, before you battle Numberman there's a number of puzzles that involving numbers, but aren't number puzzles. The problem here is that the game has a large number of puzzles and the ones you get are randomized. Because of that the answers are undocumented. But one website actually had a list of around 8 of the puzzles and their answers. Fortunately it had the answer to two of the problems on my game and the last problem was just a math problem, but it took me a year to find the answer to those problems. A YEAR.

    And today I could easily figure these problems out. ;~;

    Oh goodness, yeah that puzzle - it was the same crap that they did for BN1, and gods, I hated it so much. XD I had a good 2 hours on it trying to figure out, before referring to an online walkthrough, but yeah, wasn't it just.. annoying? ;__;

Did you play Battle Network 2? BN2 has a puzzle worse than that - the little you have to go through before reaching Shadowman. And when I say 'little', I mean big - it LITERALLY goes on forever. Ughhh. </3

By far my worst gaming memory of all time.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell I haven't got that far in the game yet...

Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2. I hate that level. When i was a kid i kept falling in water and drowning.

Also since on subject of Megaman BN. I played BN 6 few days ago, it took me forever to find the Moonstone in Undernet 2. I actually had to open a guide to find it. The moonstone was on an invisible road >_>

Aha, well be prepared for that!

Well anyways, I can't recall much of the horrible gaming experiences I've ever had, probably the worst one ever that I actually do recall was the time I was playing Leauge of Legends and this kid got really really hateful because he got ganked and I was supporting him, while I was pinging him to fall back, because I saw him through a ward.

He was pretty dumb, I tell you what - but you know, that's what happens when you support such a "special" adc player. They think that they should yell at others just because they can have the most damage on our team, and it's always -they're- way. I understand we should help them out, but really, they don't have to be rude about it, y'know? @__@

Sounds like almost every LoL player ever, especially ADCs, and especially Vayne or Ezreals.

I stopped supporting because while i found Lulu and Blitz fun to play, i got tired of being flamed by whole team every game just because i'm the support.
