You find a wallet with 1000 dollars in it

I'd turn it in. I don't like carrying around stuff that isn't mine, unless I give it back or something.

...If I'm unable to do that for reasons such as no ID, I might keep some of the money for myself, but keep the rest untouched. So if they ever DO ask for it back, I can say "I spent some of it, I'll try and pay it back" instead of blowing the whole stack.

I'm being 100% honest here and say I'd keep it. That's not to say I wouldn't feel guilty about it, or kind of paranoid since it is considered against the law here. >m<

But oh the things I could buy with $1000....games....food....more games.....

If I found that much money, I'd probably turn it into the police or the officials of wherever I found it (if it was in a Shopping Centre, for example). I would feel so guilty keeping it for myself! If it was a small amount of money randomly on the ground, I'd keep it, but a wallet with $1000? I could never justify keeping it, knowing it wasn't mine.

See, I don't know if I could hand it to the nearest shop with a clear conscience. The teller might just keep it for themselves.

If I could find some identification in it I would mail it or take it directly to the address.

Since there's no identification... I would post signs that I found the wallet, when I found it, and I would then ask for people thinking it's theirs to describe it and to tell me how much/what was in it. I'd post the signs around town. If I get no response or no one seems legit, I'd donate it to probably an animal shelter or something.

Probably turn it into the police \: I'd feel extreme guilty if I were to even consider taking someone else's money without them knowing :c Besides, I wouldn't consider myself one of those absolute broke college students as I tend to save my monies and have accumulated quite a bit :3

I'd keep it. Since it had no identification, I wouldn't know whose it was so... and if I gave it to a shop owner, they'd likely keep it anyway. I probably wouldn't even feel guilty about it either.

That doesn't really make you a bad person you know. Several of us would keep it. I'd keep that much money even if it was found with identification. I'd keep the ID too.

Sorry, but if there's an I.D. or a credit card giving the name of whoever owns the wallet, there isn't any excuse to not track down the owner or police and give it to them. At least that's the way I see it. Doesn't matter how much money there is.

Now, if there was no chance of returning it to the original owner, I suppose it's fair game then. But I think finding the owner should be priority #1.

I know when I found a wallet with lots of credit cards in it and some case, I was tempted to just take it and go, but I decided against it. I knew I would just end up feeling guilty afterwards and I sure as ♥♥♥♥ didn't need that on my shoulders.

$1000 would probably go onto a holiday in America, so I think I'd keep it. I'd trust no one else with the money, and well, anyone could say that they lost $1000.

Mine.

Given my money situation right now I'm bloody desperate for such a wallet to fall into my possession. And if they can afford to carry that much money round, they can afford to donate to my little charity. The Luck Hax charity. For poor souls who need a roof to remain over their head with as little stress as possible. It would be luck hax indeed if I happened to come across a wallet like that.

If it wasn't a sum of money that I'd be able to make a significant change to my situation with, I would actually just hand it in somewhere. If my situation was pretty good, maybe my magnanimity would even extend to that much money... maybe.

I would turn it in.

What the hell am I talking about? We can say something like that, but if the situation arose, it wouldn't happen. Besides, I already got jipped once. One time, in elementary school, I was digging in the playground. Found a 50$ bill. Turned it in and got a box of Thin Mints. I don't even like Thin Mints! Last ♥♥♥♥ing time.

If it were my wallet, obviously I would hope someone would return it to me. But if I found it, $1,000 would help me out tremendously. I'd probably keep it and feel guilty about it.

But if they have $1,000 in their wallet, I'd be willing to bet that they're pretty well off. Most people only carry a small portion of their income in their wallet.

With no ID, anyone could claim it as theirs with just as much legitimacy as I could, so I'd keep it... the money, not the wallet.
How bad I might feel about it pales in comparison to how bad I'd feel if some other thief swindled me out of it for being upstanding.

Since I don't see a need for so much monies right now I'd probably hand the wallet to the police, or maybe donate the money to charity or something, basically anything that doesn't involve me keeping it
