    I have a huge problem with my hack.

    In unLZ, there's no Bulbasaur back sprite. Rather, it goes from Bulby's front sprite to Ivysaur's front sprite.

    Every time you send out Bulbasaur, the game freezes.

    I'm not sure why, since earlier versions of my hack have both Bulbasaur's front and back. Any way to fix this, or do I have to start over?

    P.S. It might've been my fault, since I was replacing Bulby's front sprite, but I can't recall doing anything to cause it.

  • Can somebody please explain HEX editing to me. I've tried to edit text in ruby, but A-text doesn't go far enough to be useful. Apparently I need to use HEX to help me, but when I open it up, all I see are numbers and letter, but I have no idea what to do. All I know is that F's and 0's represent free spaces (or something like that)

    You could have overwritten the Front Sprite, and it was too big and overlapped the back sprite screwing it up. You'd have to restart to fix that or re insert the original images to their original spots, or you could insert the original and re-point them to the new spot.

    Personally I think it'd be easier if you learned how to script using ScriptED or PokeScript.

    My guide doesn't actually explain scripting. It really just lists all the commands(That I have), but without already having an undertanding of scripting, its pretty much useless to them.

    You can use the search function in A-text to find whatever text you want to replace.
    Hex editing is the most useful tool that is available to you. Hex editing in FR/LG and R/S/E are just about completely the same. Almost everything is already in the same format. If you can find and use a table file, (there is a thread here somewhere explaining that, or if you kind find it I'm 100% sure, the question has been asked here at least a few times) that should help you find the text you're looking for. Hex Editing is just one of those things you get used to.

    so it has something different?

    2.How does scripting work anyways?

    3.When I get done editing trainers and their Pokemon in PET
    I click save and then
    it says run time error
    ,and it closes it,can anyone help me with
    this please.

    4.The same thing happens when I chge a Pokemon's stats in
    Pokemon Amplifier,after i click save it says run time error and then it closes.


    I have answers:
    1. There are many guides in the documents tutorials, if you bother looking..
    2." " Or PM me. (ScriptEd only)
    3. Make sure your rom is in the SAME FOLDER as PET and RS ball, and make sure your rom has NO SPACES in its name, so if its Pokemon Fire Red.gba, make it PokemonFireRed.gba.
    4. Same reason as above most probably.

    I'm new to hacking and I'm using the Advance Map on Sapphire.
    I've created a map, by mistake, and I was wondering..
    How do you delete maps? If there is a way, or do I just ignore them?

    2. How comes when I change the title screen it wont change to pallete i have chosen on UNLZ

    1. use a-tack to edit doduo's moves.
    2. you have to use APE to change the pallete, there is a guide in the documents/tutorials section on how to do it (actually there are a couple)

    Stuck...

    1. I have found A-Tack, but is there a toutorial to show me how to change the attacks. Because, I want Duoduo to learn Spark so I can hange it to Pachirisu.

  • My Question is For gold.

    I made a script where you talk to a person, then they move somewhere, but I click on her and a text box opens ans the screen turns black.

    The command for movement is 69 (because I talked-to-her) and the 2Byte pointer points to: 00 0C 0C 0E 0E 0D 0E.

    I know the movements are correct, but I think there is an extra code to tell the game the script ended, like in a message you have to use 57 00 But in a movement, I don't know what it is, I think its 70, but the person isn't following anyone.

    Please, can a Gold hacker help me?

    i have a question about exporting "raw" map-data from a rom that i can use in other applications like flash.

    f.e., the tileset has 100 tiles - exporting it is easy. now i need the map data and i want each map tile to have a number of 1-100, pointing to the correct position in the tileset.
    i was hoping i could do that with advance map, but it looks like that won't work.
    is there any way to export or convert map data like that?

    a little off-topic, but it is possible to export map data from Crystal and import it to Emerald?

    u know in advance map where theres an option of putting pokemon and their lvls and then u cna encounter those pokemon? well how can i put a shiny pokemon?

But when I try to write to the ROM, I get an error saying "Compressed size is 2CO. Which is too big. Aborting." and stops me from writing it to the ROM. Any suggestions?

    You would have to script an option for that.

    When saving, ie Write to ROM, have "Auto abort if new data is bigger" unticked, then it shouldn't have that message.

    Your sprite is probably too big, you need to decrease the size.

  • Does anyone know how to make Pokescript work? If I try to run it it says ActiveX component can't create object. I also can't make it compile when I right click it. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.
