Haha, and you are in the progress of corrupting our television shows :( TV is getting so americanized here. And I don't mean they're getting English speaking, I mean in their style.

Ohhhh the kinda rants I could go on about the Americanisation (and Rika - "americanized" is an Americanisation in itself, haha) of England would probably get me fired. The worst part is how many people here don't really know / care about it, which kinda makes me wonder if I'm just odd. d:

It's bad enough that internet browsers over here don't recognise non-American spelling in spell checkers.. I guess that's a localisation thing? :p

(Yes I honourably used British spellings on purpose)

Yeah but I think the letter z is cool so I like to use those spellings, haha, rather than how you British or Australian people do it. Civilisation? Localisation? Looks so corny tihihi.

BTW mega blaziken is the coolest thing ever, agree with me nao.

    Blasiken in British?

I know there's some linguistic debate about the origin of 'z' in words like civilisation/organise and whatnot. Some say Americanisation, others say that 'z's have been used since the olden days of English? For me, it's a case of personal preference, irrespective of 'proper' usage. I just think it looks neater! :D

It always sort of bugged me as a kid when playing Pokémon when the in-game mother was called Mom. Australia uses British English but seems to always get the American English instead. (And it didn't even make sense with GSC - we got those games before Europe and America!)

American english annoys me also but I would be ever so grateful for opinions :). Pls halp meh bcoz im trapped

I recently started a job in retail and I get along so incredibly well with one of my coworkers who just so happens to be single. She is fantastically delightful, she's funny, understands my humour, is generally a lovely person, and she's drop dead gorgeous.
We just talked most of the shift about everything, from favourite colours, hobbies and everything up to recent relationships.
The problem I have is that I'm 19, she just turned 17 and I don't know if it's appropriate for me to date someone my little brothers age.

Also taking into consideration everything I know about her she won't be single for much longer so I have to act fast if I do anything about it.

    Thoughts?

    @ Plumpy

2 years is not much. At least not if the younger person is the girl in the relationship and if you think she seems mature enough. I do know of people who think 2 years is a lot when it comes to teenagers, but really what matters most is her as an individual. Above 20, 2 years difference is reeeally nothing at all.

As for her being your brother's age, if that is the main concern here - so what? At best your brother will be jealous because you landed a hot chick his age while he didn't ;) unless he already did, idk haha

Like Red said, I don't really see the problem with the ages. I would date a person that's 2-3 years younger than me but no younger than that.

Also I'm American but I use British English most of the time because I find it more appealing and it makes me look smarter in front of other people. xD

My main concern is just that my bro gives me this look when I say his friend or girls his age are attractive like, you're way too old, man. And he'll more than likely give it to me every time she comes up in conversation.

Bugger it I'm just going to go for it, thanks peeps.

I think the age thing is really only a problem invented by teenagers to shame girls who go for guys over 20 when they're 15. I can't wait until that's over with and girls don't tell me I'm like a baby when they're only 3 years older, girl you came to talk to me so I already look "old enough" in your eyes.

I find British English to be more sophisticated, I can't seem to get myself to get used to it but I seem to slip a few Spanish spellings on my typing. (like the words containing s/z gets converted to c's sometimes lol)

i think age is just a number, but i feel like there is a limit when it goes like 20 years apart :P

i think people who are british are just more sophisticated.

I don't mind dating people a few years older of a few years younger than me because if you love that person and have a connection then age shouldn't matter right? I mean I wouldn't date someone who is more that 10-12 years apart because I feel we would be in different stages of our lives and wouldn't be able to connect as easy, but yeah 2,3 or 5 years apart is fine.

I have a pretty broad age preference myself. I wouldn't mind if I date someone 10 years older, or two years younger. So...my chances of dating someone within that range is pretty high, but right now I don't see myself doing so because of... life :P

My grandmother and grandfather are ten years apart. But they met later in life after my grandfather divorced from my other grandmother (the one I'm actually related to; the one he's married to now is an in law I guess?) so for some reason it doesn't seem to be much of a problem. I myself at this point in life would probably have to say five years being my max.

Haha. Hahahah. Ahaha... Hah. Hahhaahha. Nah, I don't think that's always the case ^^ Rather, language always changes with times and places and it's not strange that American English is different from British English or Australian English. All these different kinds have their own words for some things, don't they? "Sadly" I mostly only know American English since that's what is seen most on TV and the internet.

... Maybe it's because it's less sophisticated complicated, come to think of it xD

I don't see myself dating anyone right now regardless of age haha. I want to start dating soon, but focusing on college and finding a job are my priorities right now!
