  • What I find overrated is:

    1. Frozen (Another Disney movie, ugh)
    2. Sochi 2014...
    3. Justin Bieber's arrest, why must this make headline news and something like a kid dying when trying to save his family doesn't?
    4. Doctor Who, not the show itself, it's fanbase, CANNOT STAND WHOVIANS.

Tell me about it! People are acting like Frozen's the greatest thing to happen on planet Earth, when in reality it's another cliche Disney musical. Seriously guys, there's no way this movie could stand with the cinematic greats.

  • Aside from Bieber himself, I also can't stand his fanbase, Beliebers.
When Selene Gomez went out with that thing, his fans threatened to kill her. During a concert, people got trampled and when someone started the #Cut4Bieber, a crap ton of them started cutting themselves for Bieber to stop smoking weed and he did completely nothing about it.

I seriously doubt most of their intellect.

LOL, that whole #CutForBieber thing was started on 4Chan... No fan ever cut, unless it was a fake fan.

  • Exactly, it started on a troll site and people took it so seriously some of them actually cut themselves. Search a bit deeper than TMZ and you'll see it.

  • Looking through this thread reminded me of some things:

Flappy Bird: It's a ripoff of a few, earlier games, but with a weird character and Mario tubes. Plus it's not ALL that fun.
Dr. Who: I saw two episodes, then bits and pieces of other ones. Just...no. It wasn't interesting, plus the fan base can bug me.
Soccer: Personally, I don't like the sport. No, I'm not bad at it. I've played twice in my life. Once in first grade, where I blocked an 8th graders shot with one hand (I was too young to understand why everyone was getting so much joy out of my hands pain XP), and another time when I did a bicycle kick or something into the goal. So it's not cuz I suck. It's just that it isn't anything special, in my opinion, and it seems WAY too popular, too me at least. Plus some violent stuff goes down at some of those games.

  • Oh my god, this is so annoying I just have to talk about this completely overrated piece of crap. Twitch Plays Pokémon is overrated! I don't normally put bold words on my posts, but when I do, it makes me want to do a Hitler rant about how this even got so popular in the first place. All the players are dumb when it comes to controlling one single person. Why would they even release their Pokemon?!!! Or dumber yet, WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ IS WITH THE HELIX FOSSIL? They act like it is their god or something! Using it in battle is also a stupid idea! We couldn't stop this from going viral around here, and it makes my childhood ruined just because of the stupid memes Pokememes has put up, I may never go on it again for a while. Opinions on this topic are allowed, but please don't bash me about how popular this is on the internet. I'm surprised myself that I even typed this with more than 100 words.

Dude, you're taking something not meant to be serious way too serious. All the memes and stuff are just jokes. If you believe people are actually worshiping a fictional fossil, then you clearly haven't been on the internet enough. Also you honestly expect thousands of people controlling the same player to control it in a orderly and a straightforward manner? You think 50,000 plus people can just waltz through the game with ease? No that's not possible. There's hundreds of commands being inputted into the system through the chat at once so the player's gonna go all over the place. We're gonna open items that we can't use like the Helix Fossil, and S.S. Ticket. And we're gonna released Pokemon by mistake. You can't expect thousands of people to take their time and finish the game without screwing things up. It's just how the game is set up. And the stream/memes "ruined your childhood"? How? Seriously, that's rather absurd and over dramatic if you ask me. Memes are apart of the Internet, so no matter where you go you'll expect a few to pop up. If you can't deal with that, then maybe just leave the Internet. People are just having fun with this and there's nothing wrong with the amount of jokes. If you don't like the idea, fine, don't join the stream. Ignore it until the hype dies down. No one's forcing you to watch of play it.

  • I forgot to add "Flappy Bird", yes, the game is lovely, but, shut up about it.
The scariest thing about it in my opinion is the fact that people are actually making money off of it by selling their phones on eBay that have the app on it. Are people really that obsessive over a game in which they would buy someone else's phone just to play it?

It's a rare commodity now that it's been deleted from the App store and with all the hype that it generated within such a short period, I'm not surprised people would pay for it \: I mean, do I think it's ridiculous? Yes, but, people would be willing to sell anything these days. To be honest though, Flappy Bird just seems like a copy of other games based on its concept. Just download another one that's similar?

I'm sure there are websites where one can upload the app, or there could be an emulator for Android/iPhone games, that you can play on your computer, It is as silly as selling Pokemon (in the games) on ebay... Flappy Bird will die out in the next coming months and we'll move on to something and overhype that...

Vine and Viners are also overrated, like, everheard of "Magcon", they're just a bunch of teenage males who are famous due to their looks and vines, they're really not funny and not at all enjoyable... I know them, like I know many currently unheard of artists/bands/people, through Twitter.

I mean I've already seen parodies of it on sites; I'm just more surprised at the fact that people would be willing to buy a phone to get the app, when they can just realistically find it online. But like someone said earlier, this whole phase will pass over just like Gangnam Style did.

I disagree with the Vine comment. I think it's hilarious. Especially if you go to "Best Vines" on FB. Sure some of them are like you said not funny, but a lot of them I think are. Vines sent by friends are pretty dumb; I think the ones where they are pretty smart, intuitive, and take advantage of the scenario are awesome to watch.

I'm just starting to think you hate almost everything.Especially popular things.(Though you somehow like Bieber and ID. Okay your opinion then....) You seem to be just listing anything popular and claiming it's overrated, which many already said isn't the definition of overrated. A lot of Vines are hilarious man. It shows how much you can fit into just 6 seconds of video. I also love the amount of stop-motion videos that come from it. Those are cool and it's interesting see how much easier stop-motion videos can be made with Vine.I mean no, not all of them are funny, but neither are all Youtubers. It's just what that person finds funny. What you find funny may not be funny to someone else.

  • I never got into Vine, as there's only so much you can fit into six seconds. I guess my sense of humour requires buildup and stories and stuff.

It's pretty amazing what people can cram in 6 seconds and be utterly hilarious. I don't think Vine is overrated, I think they're 6 seconds of comedy goldmines. The good ones though xD

One thing I find that's pretty overrated currently is Arrow, the tv series. Sorry, not sorry.

People say that One Direction and Justin Bieber are overrated and they're popular, so, you've contradicted yourself there. No, I am not actually dissing on Vine itself, just the certain people who use it, there is a group of guys called "Magcon" who are as famous as One Direction and Justin Bieber, but, all Magcon do is make YouTube Videos and/or Vines and are only loved for their looks, heck, I can't stand PewDiePie, but, if YouTubers like Magcon are celebrities, why isn't PewDiePie? Because PewDiePie isn't a generic looking teenager, with apparent "good looks".

  • Oh boy, I read through this thread and I needed a drink. Non-alcoholic, obviously.
    Overrated.

    Let's see here.
    There's...
Naruto. This link sums it up pretty well.
MLP. As much as I love the show and certain parts of the fandom hi /mlp/!, it's not the greatest ♥♥♥♥ ever. There's a good few flaws and bad episodes and let's not even get started on Equestria Girls. Then there's the other parts of the fandom, a good example being /r/mylittlepony which are so cancerous it's not even funny.
Minecraft. Used to love it, can barely stand it anymore. It's such a shallow game, with a few games that outperform it (Terraria springs to mind straight away), yet it's so hyped up and eaten up by 11 year-olds who have played only a few other games. Let's not mention the amount of LPs and music videos on YouTube. It's an alright game with mods and plugins, but it shouldn't need those.
Hunger Games. The books are good, but the movies are eh (from what I've seen of them). Then there's the huge fanbase who barely read anything and think it's the greatest ♥♥♥♥ ever.
A lot of music artists, good examples being Nirvana, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Green Day, One Direction, PSY, Katy Perry, One Direction and Justin Bieber. Some of those artists are OK, but the others are pretty bad and don't deserve that large a fanbase.

reddit. No, recycling your epic memes xD from other sites does not make you funny, it makes you ♥♥♥♥ at creating OC. Come up with something good. The exception to reddit is a few subreddits that know that the memes spammed around the rest of the site aren't funny. This website is overrated as a whole and really isn't that good considering there's a few other sites that produce quality content.
CoD. Everything before and up to Modern Warfare was alright, but otherwise it's not that good and I can't understand why there's that many people who love it.
Social media. It's alright for catching up with people, but... eh. Not keen on it.
The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park and the like. The Simpsons was alright up until season ~8, then came all the guest stars and ♥♥♥♥ which dragged down the show as a whole. I wonder how people still like it. The other shows that are similar to it feel like poorly constructed black comedy that tries to cram as many bad jokes in as possible (there's much better ways to do black comedy, seriously to anyone who finds these shows go lurk 4chan sometime, preferably not /b/ and you'll end up finding better stuff there) and fails hilariously at it. Can't get around the fact that a lot of people still like these mediocre shows.
There we go, my opinions on what I think is overrated. Have fun dissecting them.
Seriously though that argument up there was pretty bad
