  • Very constructive! Other Gen I fans might be surprised it's coming from a Gen I avid fan! :)

    It's amazing how gaming standards from one series can change over the time, I'm not even talking about the Fairy, Mega, Physical/Special split blah blah. I mean the plot, character developments. :) I hope the future generations are going to continue improving this franchise that we love. :)

    Now I just need to see if I can get that port of the original Windows XP "Luna" theme on Windows 10 like I had on Windows 7 lol. I've heard rumours that Windows 8.1 themes will still work with Windows 10, but I'm not sure, and scared to really try currently. Right now I have an XP Style start button that matches my taskbar, but if I can get that Luna theme installed, I'd naturally go back to the original one. Looking forward to the day I can have my good old XP look back completely :p

    How Windows 10 looks on my laptop at the moment.

    Right now, Windows 10 is alright. This morning, it was the most frustrating thing I'd seen in months. I ran the upgrade over night, and when I logged in this morning, absolutely nothing worked. Like, even the start menu wouldn't open. But I restarted it, and it installed some updates, and a new nVidia driver, and things have been good since then. I installed Classic Shell and so now my start menu works like the Windows 7 one I was used to (and the Start Button looks like XP because I could :p) and the programs I already had installed seem to be working fine without compatability issues (even Office 2003, surprisingly) so that's a good start. And if something weird happens, I can always go back to 7 of course.

    But yeah, I can see why you would want to hold off. I just wanted to go ahead and deal with it now before the semester got started good, because I didn't want to accidentally lose classwork due to Windows issues again like I did the last time I was a student (failed a history class and I blame Windows Vista). But yeah, I'd say probably a good idea to hold off, but once it started cooperating, it really isn't bad.

    Yeah, the new Firefox has been annoying me lately, it's been rather slow and such. My PC has just been acting sluggish and annoying in general though tbh. I hate Windows 8 with a passion, but Windows 10 actually looks like it won't be too bad. It's a free upgrade, and with a free third party tool, I can make the start menu exactly like it was in 7. So what I've been doing this weekend is backing up my important stuff, and I'm gonna upgrade to 10 and try it out with Classic Shell. I figure it's worth a try anyway, and since I have things backed up already and have a Windows 7 install disk, worse case scenario is I end up with a clean re-insall of 7 and still end up with my PC running more smoothly lol.

    I do totally know where you're coming from though. I mean, I have 7 setup to look like XP, and I still use Office 2003, and mainly hack Gen 1 and 2, so I totally feel you there!
    Well... It breaks real "hardware", but there's nothing suggesting it doesn't work in BGB or Gambatte... :P

    It's worth a shot, though if it breaks a Game Boy, it may not work correctly in Gambatte.

    It's a step toward something better, so I'm happy about it :p

    Super jelly of you right now though lol

    That's good! Glad you enjoyed summer! Mine wasn't as much fun since I had to do like yard work out in the sun all day for work. But at least I'm done with that now that I'm back in school.

    School is a bit expensive, but it will be ok. I have some money saved up, and next semester I'll try to get on financial aid to help out, so it shouldn't be tooooo bad :)

    Hey!

    Things are going pretty well :) I was kinda wondering where you'd disappeared to, but I figured you must be busy or something.

    As you can see, I've gotten a good bit done on Red++ since I've released Beta 1. It's still missing some things of course, but you can play all of Kanto so far. Outside of hacking, I've decided to go back to school for a computer science degree, and my classes started today. I'm only taking 2 classes right now though, saving money and trying to get back into the feel of being a student, since it's been a few years since I was one lol.

    How about you? How's everything been going?
    They might felt lost and stranded during that time, but ugh they could have add a Suicune related sub-plot to relate to the Crystal version.

    Girls might applaud it if Pokémon Contests were introduced by Misty in Johto arc (you know how kids love stuff, even if they aren't that great ;) ), but it's impossible for obvious reason.
    Oh yeah Betty, I recall you told me that Misty from the anime toned down in the Johto arc compare to her personality in the Kanto arc. Why is that? Was she neglected/demoted? Or was she developed sp that's why she changed (a bit)?

    I haven't watched the anime when they stopped broadcasting here, by the time they re-air the series here, I lost my interest already.
    I know a lot of fans mind that Japanese is getting it all, but we can't deny the fact that Pokémon is more popular there than the other parts of the world. That is why a lot of companies are willing to sponsor and host events, like the cinemas, McDonald's and even 7-11.

    I believe only certain places like Toys "R" Us, GameStop are willing to host those giveaways nowadays, the latter one is quite well known for asking their customers to place orders if they want the event Pokémon. :/ Do you still remember those Pokémon with special moves in Gen II? Like Leech Seed Oddish, Petal Dance Psyduck, etc.? They were available almost everywhere as Pokémon were a hit before. So If Pokémon gets popular again (which is difficult nowadays), then it's guaranteed that we're getting more events.~

    Everything really depends on the fandom, not the other way round. {XD} They won't host events if it's not worth the money. ;)

    Resurgence? That's good, even if it's a mini one. You gotta thank the power of nostalgia, most Western gamers are sucker for that. :) *shouts to PUSA: Money opportunity grab their moneys with Mewtwo and Charizard*
    Forget about the Smogon, it's the Japanese players they are mainly catering. Yes most Japanese players are into metagame too, but it works slightly different from the Western one.

    And yes, it is not strange if the Japanese players are considered first before the international market. Because duh, that is where it all begun! {XD}

    Don't you think it's ironic to introduce PokéAmie in Gen VI, a Generation that caters the metagame players? {XD}

    Plot sequels might happen sometime in the future, it can be Gen 7 or when they think it's necessary to. Considering how the main Pokémon players are more leaning to the adult audience nowadays.
    It feels like they went back to square one like the Gen I games (definitely no offense there), like you know there's nothing much to do during post-game. Plot-wise they weren't much the impressive ones, but RG have the immunity for 'venturing out'. XY on the other hand, we're on the 3DS era now... Good graphics don't make a great RPG game, but a good plot does.

    Aside from better plots, is there something else that can help turn the tables for Pokémon?
    Not to mentioned N has actually won Alder! But since he didn't enter the Hall of Fame room, he isn't actually officially recognized as a winner. :)

    Wow, you certainly do know a lot for someone who studied/researched the Pokémon games from the internet! :)

    I'm disappointed with the direction of Pokémon franchise recently, the problems of Gen VI main core games as well as the anime as we talked about, then F2P games like Shuffle and Rumble World are slowly tarnishing the franchise name. The ones that sounds promising are the Pokkén Tournament and prolly the Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. I hope they won't screw up on the following core game for Gen VI. I recall I wasn't optimistic with Gen VI before it made its debut, mainly because of the frame rate problem but who would have expected the plot and post-games are gonna be a mess, when Gen V have actually hit the spot! This last piece of Gen VI game is gonna play a big role whether I'm still gonna be supportive to the franchise like I've ever been since Pokémon came to my life.

    In case it really turns out badly, that doesn't mean I won't play the future Pokémon games. It just means that passion won't be the same as before.
    I noticed that many don't seem to have gotten this but N was champion of Unova for a short while as he seemed to have finished defeating Alder when the player came in. Ghetsis even said that now that N had done so he was now the top authority of Unova so it was time for him to declare people to release their Pokemon.

    I wonder if those who played RS first then E were surprised about the champion changing (hadn't happened in Blue/Yellow or in Crystal, and wouldn't happen in any other third version either since Pt kept Cynthia and Gen V had sequels)...or about Juan.

    Sadly now in days it's hard to be surprised with a Pokemon game. There were leaks for XYOrAs (did I ever mention to you that the initials of this Gen's games plus DE for Delta episode (or Delta Emerald) spell Deoxys (S from (Alpha) Sapphire)?) prior to their release.
    That is very surprising! Did you learn all these stuff by the internet? o_O
