  • I always try to since I prefer to be transparent about where I got inspiration from.

It's easier for me to start with the head so I can get a general feel of where the hair will be. I always prefer to do head and hair before anything else. I'm not too bothered if the heads I draw are too big since I draw cartoony, exaggerated proportions, anyway.
Ah, yeah, I definitely am an improviser, for sure. I make do with what I'm capable of and have.

But, I do always start drawing from the head and work my way down, just do so differently, I guess? At some point, I'll take a few pictures of a wip maybe to show what my progress looks like.
I've tried that and it's really hard for me to draw that way. :( I don't know why, but for whatever reason, I can't do the stickman approach.

So, I do things the simple way. Usually, I draw a half circle and continue from there. Maybe that's weird, but I was never able to do it that way.
I usually look at anime since my art style is supposed to reflect that, and those are pretty expressive, too.

I stopped using pencil because it's easier to learn from my mistakes by seeing them where they are with pen. It actually helps me more to learn from imperfections than to get rid of them. Our pencil sharpener on the wall also doesn't sharpen well, so it's difficult to work with pencil in that kind of situation.

Using lined paper, though, I think I can use the lines to help me size better since that's kind of what they're there for, after all. (I don't know what helper lines are...)
I believe you mentioned hands in your last post in my thread, and I have been attempting to look at my own as a resource.

Eyes, though, I need to keep practicing I always make one pupil bigger than the other by mistake.

But, I redrew the character I thought looked derpy and didn't give her pointy teeth. That's what was bothering me so much.

...A shame the teeth bugged me because I'm trying to draw many different facial expressions besides a smile and frown.
Hey Megan - just wanted to swing by and say that I'm really digging your current avatar for the forums, it looks really awesome!
I also have, give or take, 64 colored pencils, too. I just sometimes wish I had more for coloring in outfits or skin colors since I only have peach, apricot and some browns.

I've tried layering recently & color mixing, but I think my colors come out so light is because I am afraid to press too hard.
(late responses, sorry I forgot to respond).

I've since posted a lot more drawings in the thread & attempted using colored pencils again. But, I really need more colors than 64. I've been thinking of buying around 300 crayons and some oil pastels to expand my horizons, but money is tight sometimes.
    Oh, actually, I use crayons.

I don't have enough colored pencils to use for drawing...
Hello, and thanks for replying so quickly. I just assumed that since he was the creator of the thread, he could hide his messages. Could you do one last thing, check if he ever created a different thread named "Christmas Mini-hack", as evidenced by a message of a user named TCB here: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=235371&page=21. If he did, then he deleted it on the 12 night of 2011 as evidence by a message by the Cutlerine here:
    https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=235371&page=22.

    Thank you.
    Hello there!
Hopefully this won't be too long, but I need your help with something quite hard.

I am looking for a long lost mini hack made by the Cutlerine (creator of Pokémon
snakewood) which was uploaded for a brief amount of time in this website by him.
Specifically, the mini hack was named Pokémon cangrejo and it was uploaded
in this page of the original snakewood thread https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=235371&page=20 , on December 25th 2010. However, it was deleted a few days later by the Cutlerine (if you click the link, you will see a gap between 24th and 26th during which the game was supposedly uploaded) Even though he said he would upload an updated version he never did, resulting in the game being completely gone from the internet.
I know this is a lot, and most likely can't be done, but is it possible for you, or someone to retrieve the deleted message, so the game gets to be found again?

Thank you if you read this.
And now we have monkeypox or something... ugh ;(

We should start our secret tag-team now that the rules are sorted btw ;)
