Nobilis. A land so very unlike our own and yet, in many ways the same. Today I will tell you the story of this great land, today I will recite to you the legend of dragon riders.

In a year unknown to us, the world of Nobilis was ruled by the three great races, the elven, the dwarven and the human race as we ourselves know it to be. Groups of people with the ability to do great and ruinous things both, a collection of species outside of the natural order and capable of changing things for better or for worse. Unlike our world however, were the fantastical creatures that roamed alongside them. Beasts that we regard as nothing more than legend, powerful chimera, elegant pegasus, fierce griffin and monstrous demons among so many other things. Near every incredible piece of folklore and myth existed in these lands alongside the most common of insects that we see as nothing in our day and age.

However, even in a world ridden with fantasy there are legends. Legends of mystical creatures said to represent and act as the ambassadors of the natural world. The dragons.

They say that years ago, the dragons stood... each representing a facet of the World. To show the bond between the Earth and those whom walked upon it, each dragon would have a mortal partner. One whom would share their power, their mind and forge with them a bond that put any other to shame. These riders were respected, as their partners were, as the leaders and rulers of the land and under them came an age of prosperity and peace.

Then one day, they vanished.

Or so the legend goes... however such tales were regarded as naught but idle fancy by the people until very recently. For you see words and rumors are being spread. Talk of shining orbs of purest light, falling into the hand of the most unique and estranged individuals across the land. The people idly chatter of great wings upon the sky. Of strange happenings and tiding upon the wind.

They say that the Riders now return... and that dragons once more walk upon this Earth.

Enter you, the player. Living your normal every day life in this fantasy world you find yourself thrust into extraordinary circumstances when in a flash of blinding light an orb glowing with a strange and colorful light appears before you as if by magic. For your own reasons you take this orb into your possession and eventually it hatches into a young dragon. You find a way to hide it, keeping it away from the prying eyes of all but those you trust the most. After all, such a creature has not been seen in centuries.

But three weeks later your dragon is fully grown, hiding it is not so easy and with it you share an unbreakable bond of unfathomable power. Thoughts, images and emotions... all of this and more you share with this incredible beast and it in turn shares with you. As if two minds become one, you foster a fledgling bond with your partner... and yes, I say partner for a good reason. The dragon has learned quickly and has personality, intelligence and wisdom to match and outclass most if not all mortal beings in Nobillis. One day the Dragon has an epiphany, it must travel to the center of the great plains of Nobilis. A massive expanse of grassland that holds at its core a grand ruin, a castle abandoned since ancient times known as Pharus. Through whatever reasoning or motives you may have, you agree to take your dragon to this place, this ruin, despite the fact that since you were a child you have heard stories of a ghostly and deadly knight whom lives there.

As your journey begins, you and your Dragon companion arrive at the huge walls of this grand court. Bigger than any castle that still stands to this day, a massive portcullis stands before you and you feel as if this is the first step of a new life.

So the story truly begins.

For this RP you will, essentially, be playing two characters in one. A rider, whom is elven, human or dwarven based upon your preference and their dragon, a great reptilian beast with powerful wings and a vast intelligence. These two characters share a powerful mental link and can transfer thoughts, images and feelings between one another seamlessly over entire cities if need be, though the bond grows fainter the further apart the two characters are.

Each Dragon represents an aspect of the natural World and its abilities represent this trait. Basically, elemental abilities. Their riders will inherit the ability to channel magic of their dragons specific type over time as well and as such the roles have been divided based on element. The dragons egg color upon being found, will also reflect this element. All riders are new to this and cannot use magic until a certain point near the beginning stages of the RP. So keep that in mind and choose wisely!

cup-and-talon.regular.png

1: Respect your fellow players and never bunny or god mod another players character unless given permission to do so.

2: A minimum of one post every week is required for this RP. It may go somewhat slow, or rather quickly based on the players recruited. I have no major qualms with killing off a character if I need to, I have plans in the event of someone needing to be replaced.

3: JPs are encouraged as this is a smaller RP, but be aware that if you wish to complete one that you still adhere yourself to the two week rule. Regular posting is also encouraged.

4: Post here in the OOC if you have any pending questions, however a Discord channel will also be opened for convenience.

5: Your character will be stronger than the common folk of Nobilis due to them having a dragon and magic. (Two very very uncommon things.) But they aren't invincible either. No god mode please.

6: No reservations, if multiple people go for the same role then the best SU in my opinion will take the position.

7: All normal RPT and PC rules apply.

8: Have fun, as always.~

Just a notice that I'm interested in making a character for this. I'm thinking of going for the Darkness and Deception dragon.

Shame this is one of those "best app wins" sort of roleplays, though. Tends to make signing up a more stressful and competitive ordeal.

Just noting here that my own SU will be for the part of the Wind and Speed dragon.

So I wouldn't bother myself making an SU for it, anyone out there with said desire. ^ ^"

"Feel the rhythm!"

Tamber / 23 Years Old / Female
gypsy_zpseg8ofqcv.jpg

Race

Half-Human/Half-Elf

Appearance

Tamber stands at a height of about 5'6", sporting a somewhat slender body build, which is accented by the fact that she rather well endowed in her breasts. She has a dark, sun-kissed skin complexion, a result of her spending a great deal of time outdoors. Her eyes are an enchanting, pale-green in color, which causes them to stand out quite nicely when paired with her darker skin tone. With modestly full lips and a nose that comes to a defined point, Tamber carries a rather exotic-looking appearance, which fits her profession quite well. This is increased more so by her silk-soft, solid white hair. Long in appearance, it reaches down to the middle of her back. It is the only sign of the elven blood flowing through her veins.

In terms of clothing, modesty is not Tamber's cup of tea. She tends to dress in rather revealing outfits, usually ones that leave her long, lean torso exposed for many to see. Soft, comfortable fabric is usually used to cover her breasts, which is accessorized by a silk wrap that she tends to wear loosely around her arms. A slitted skirt is generally worn around her waist, made from hand-woven fabrics for comfort and durability. This skirt is usually held in place by a green, somewhat decorative belt, complete with small tassels that hang from the bottom of it. In terms of footwear, Tamber has none. She is always barefoot, which is odd considering how well maintained and dainty her feet seem to be. Tamber completes her attire by wearing many pieces of decorative jewelry. In reality, most of these pieces are actually fake, as Tamber does not live a life of high, monetary-value. Still, it is easy for the young woman to fool those into thinking they're real, unless said person happens to be one of refined ability to detect fakes from real. All in all, they're meant to just add to her eye-catching, exotic appearance. Weapon-wise, she always carries her trusty whip close to her left hip.

Personality

Tamber is generally laid back in terms of personality. She is easily capable of just riding with the flow in terms of most occurrences around her, never dwelling on anything bad that may happen to those around her or herself for very long, if at all. With a smile on her lips, she is quick to throw in a quick quip or joke, even at the most inappropriate of times. Having a dancer's soul, Tamber is also known to make rather suggestive comments at times as well. These are thrown at both male and female, human and elf and dwarf, royalty or peasant, essentially meaning that status, race, and gender have no major significance towards her. While some of these can come of as a bit mean-spirited, Tamber never means any actual harm with any of her comments. While at times they could even be used to point out a flaw in someone's judgement, Tamber has been known to make comments in order to "stir the pot" in regards to debates and disagreements between those around her, almost as if she's using them for her own entertainment.

Magic

Ignite: Tamber can raise and lower the temperature of whatever she touches. This means her whip, herself, others, weapons, materials, even just wood could eventually catch on fire.

Hometown

Tamber was born in the human port city of Karzath. This birth occurred while her family's troupe was passing through the bustling trade city, so truth be told the woman has no real passing familiarity with the city other than the name and what sort of town it was.

Pyra / Female / Red / Fire
5958fda60fde8d680b368032c167b0a4.jpg

Personality

In contrast to Tamber, Pyra is quiet, observant, and overly serious. She is not one to actively strike up a conversation, preferring to keep to herself in most cases rather than mingle with humans, elves, and the like. That said, Pyra is incredibly protective of Tamber, almost to the point of being obsessive with keeping the young woman safe. She will go out of her way to keep anyone away from Tamber that she sees as a threat to the dancer's well being, never afraid to resort to brute force or possibly end one's life to do so. In a way one could say that Pyra has sort of taken on the role of being a mother-figure to Tamber, which is odd considering the fact that the human essentially hatched her.

Abilities

Smoke Screen: Pyra unleashes a thick cloud of smoke and ash from her snout. This is mostly used to impair vision, but is also capable of choking out those who breathe the smoke and ash in for too long.

Magma Breath: Pyra breaths a mass of molten lava and flame down upon those who dare to fight against her. Needless to say the burns from this can be quite deadly, so it's probably not for the best to be on the receiving end of this attack.

Searing Claws: Pyra focuses the heat in her body to climax around her razor-sharp claws. Using this tactic, the fire-dragon can slash things crafted from solid steel, causing them to melt down almost effortlessly.

History

Tamber was born into a small clan of roaming gypsies while they were passing through Karzath, a port city that focuses on trade and commerce. Her father, Galuf, served as the leader of the traveling troupe, while her mother, an elf known as Celes, served as one of the more skilled dancers in the troupe. In a sense, this saw others within the group of gypsies to see her as a princess of sorts, despite the fact that none of them were really royalty. Children being born into the clan was a rare occurrence. As a result, Tamber did not really grow up with anyone her own age. While many may think this would have caused her to be rather lonely, the girl took it rather well. It seemed that various members of the group always took the time to make sure that Tamber was never alone long, and as a result she was never really lonely.

Living a life of constant traveling can be a tad taxing, yet Tamber and the rest of the troupe loved every minute of it. While money was never vast and grand, the group managed to get by rather well. Any form of currency came from shows that they would put on while passing through various towns and cities, while they would also trade things such as fabrics and livestock. When she was younger, Tamber would often perform with her mother in these shows. As time went on and she gradually grew into a beautiful young woman, Tamber would come to perform on her own, dancing with the grace and elegance that matched her mother.

Fate seemed to have other plans in store for her, however.

It happened when the troupe was traveling through a thick and dense forest. Not out of the ordinary for her, Tamber had deiced to wander away from the group for a few moments, in order to just enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature. While walking and exploring the wood, a quick, blinding flash of light reached her eyes. The air around her was suddenly basked in heat, as if everything around her was suddenly on fire. Under normal circumstances the gypsy dancer would have turned the other way, taking the strange phenomenon as a warning to press on further into the forest. However at the same time, something about the heat felt so comforting and gentle, as if it was beckoning Tamber to come forward. Seizing all the courage she could, the dark-skinned woman moved deeper into the forest, following the heat as it led her down a winding path... One that would eventually lead her to a most unusual of treasures.

It was a glowing, red orb. Tamber had never seen anything in her life that looked so beautiful to her. While she had never actually been one to be fueled with the desires of owning much of anything, she found the orb to be absolutely irresistible, as if nothing in her life mattered outside of the strange orb. Without so much as a second thought, the young woman decided to take the glowing, red orb with her back to the camp. Tamber was very protective of the orb, never letting it out of her sight for very long. Perhaps this was a good thing, as the young dancer would eventually come to learn that it was not just an ordinary piece of treasure. It turned out that the red orb was actually the egg of a dragon! It was quite surprising to everyone in the troupe, some of them even afraid of the creature. Tamber however, seemed to regard the dragon that hatched as if it was her own child. She would come to name the dragon Pyra.

After the egg hatched, more strange events began to happen to Tamber. When she would sleep, weird dreams would come to the her, filling her heart with desire and her head with strange messages, most of which pointed to a strange place known simply as "Pharus". At first, Tamber tried to push these thoughts to the back of her mind, but the more she did so, the more the dream managed to recur. She asked the various members of the gypsy troupe just what Pharus meant, but no one seemed to be capable of giving her an answer. Even the eldest member of the troupe seemed to be at a loss. All Tamber knew was that these dreams never happened until she came in contact with the dragon that hatched from the strange, red, glowing orb. Becoming quite curious as to what it was all about, Tamber eventually reached one final decision. She knew that she had to part ways with the troupe... no, with her family, and find out what this Pharus place was, how her dragon was somehow connected, and why it was calling to her in her dreams. Together with Pyra, she set out in search of the truth.

Princess Sol Laetanas

Race: Elf

Dragon's Name: Khepri
Dragon's Color and Element: Light & Protection, Golden

Hometown: The Elven Capital of Luxolis, an enormous and radiant city in the depths of the woods.

Appearances:

Sol and her siblings are the result of centuries of selective elven breeding, aimed to only give birth to the strongest of men and fairest of maidens. Just like the entire of the Laetanas lineage, Sol is a radiant display of beauty and elegance, and a role model for all young elf ladies in both body and mind. Despite recently turning 57 years old, her figure is that of a young 19 year old - as elven aging is almost three times as slow as humans' or dwarfs'. She sports long, braided blond hair that reaches to her mid-back and which is often decorated with flowers, leaves or colored ribbons. She stands at a fair height of 5'5, and is rather skinny with pale skin and yellowgreen eyes.

Sol's wardrobe is immense and varied (as you would expect from royalty such as herself), but she finds that her favorite dress to wear is fairly simple. A cream-colored dress, decorated with green ribbons and dried leaves, as well as rose in the chest buttoning everything together. Underneath, she wears a pair of flexible brown leather pants, which facilitates mobility in combat. The dress also a long cut starting from her upper thigh to allow herself to run and walk easily, and is also usually accompanied with many necklaces, bracelets and other pieces of jewelry of the same color and design. As for weapons, Sol carries a simple longbow and arrow quiver both decorated with the Laetanas' emblem (as seen above), as well as a golden-hilted longsword encrusted with the same emblem.

Khepri is a very simple-looking golden-colored dragon appearance-wise. Aside from the fact that he is slightly smaller than most other dragons, he has no distinguishable features/physical traits. His mouth and the eyebrow-like scales on his face are shaped in such as way that he constantly appears to be smiling or in a good mood - something which is true most of the time, but not always the case.

Dragon's Abilities:

Prism Ray - Concentrating the power of the sun into his breath, Khepri unleashes a powerful beam of hardlight from his mouth which destroys anything in its path and blinds anyone looking directly at it. The beam can be reflected off mirrors or other reflective surfaces.
Solar Sphere - Khepri encases himself, a target or a location in a ball of hardlight, protecting them from any outside damage or attacks. The ball can only be about as big as Khepri himself, and cannot be used on multiple targets.
Flash Bang - Khepri releases a sudden, powerful burst of light around himself that can be used to damage, blind and knock back targets, as well as illuminate an area for an extended duration if necessary.

Rider's Magic:

Light Arrows - Sol replaces her physical arrows with hardlight-based arrows for a duration. These arrows can pass through most obstacles and will stop at either the target chosen by Sol or any surface not directly touched by light.

luFZxaz.jpg
Personality:

Sol's birth into a royal family means she was raised into a certain set of values, beliefs and traditions. With the Laetanas family being the most influential in the Elven Kingdom, and therefore the most well-versed culturally, it goes without question that Sol is fairly orthodox and even more importantly ladylike. She has great respect for traditions and elven customs, and does her best to uphold them in whatever small way she can with her minor authority.

Personality-wise, Sol is a kind, gentle person, albeit distant. She would rather help from afar rather than assist the ones in need herself - an internal struggle she often faces when faced with a decision. This means most people have mixed reactions about her, some calling her the 'shining pearl of our kingdom' while others would simply refer to her as 'another snob from the nobles'. Both descriptions would be true, really. Her voice is fairly quiet and high-pitched, but has a nasty habit of breaking horribly when she is excited or annoyed. Finally, Sol is quite competitive when it comes to something she believes herself to be good at, whether it be sword fighting, archery or napkin knitting. Although she will never show outright anger in these situations - after all, a lady must never show anger at others - she had a tendency of becoming annoyingly passive-aggressive in cases like these.

Khepri, on the other hand, is almost the polar opposite of his master. He is, first of all, extremely energetic and agitated. Though not to the extent that he would be considered hyperactive, Khepri is a fast talker and an even faster doer. His most noticeable personality aspect, however, is his (sometimes not-so) commendable chivalry. Whatever the situation, if he feels one side is being treated unfairly, he will assist them. Khepri calls himself a 'knight of peace' - ironically enough as dragons had the reputation of kidnapping maiden in folklore - and 'upholder of justice', the idea of which Sol approves, but the methods... not so much. One trait of his which gets him in particularly sour arguments with Sol is his complete lack of respect for traditions. As mentioned before, Khepri is a firm believer in freedom, and believes that traditions simply hold down such freedom. Therefore, he can be a little... unpleasant at mealtimes.

History:

Sol was born into the sheltered life of a princess as the youngest of nine siblings. Her birth was considered a miracle by many, and even witchcraft by some. Decades after the birth of their eighth child, King Laetanas' wife, queen Amun, had been considered infertile, plagued by a strange imperceptible disease. Then, one morning, the royal couple discovered in shock that the queen had indeed gotten pregnant with a child - Sol.

Named after one of the many names used for the sun, Sol grew up with the eyes of almost every adult in the city watching over her. She had no siblings even close to her age - all of them were either married or ruling in some other city - and therefore spent most of her childhood playing alone in the gigantic white halls of the Laetanas palace. As she grew older her mother and sisters began teaching her the proper behavior of a princess - humility, kindness, patience and most importantly neatness. The young elf took to these qualities very quickly. When she reached an age old enough for her to learn to use a weapon, Sol immediately asked for lessons. Her fascination in her brothers' and father's adventures made her one of the most eager students in her self-defense class. It was in this class that she learned to use a bow - a weapon whose proficiency came to her almost naturally - and sword fighting. It was also where first met Cyril, a childhood friend who is now one of Sol's private bodyguards, and the only other person she considers as a close friend.

It was in the middle of the night that a sudden flash of blinding light inside her room awoke Sol from her sleep, as the mysterious dragon egg appeared right before her. Before she had the time to do anything, Cyril rushed in, having been put on guard duty in front of her room, and ready to strike down whatever had just appeared before her. Thankfully the princess was capable of stopping him just in time for the light to fade and the white egg to be revealed. Cyril, who was fairly well-versed in history and culture, suggested to name it Khepri - a once-revered lord of the sun and rebirth by the ancient people of the Interminatas, the great desert. The two promised each other to keep the egg a secret for as long as they could - the risk of it being careless broken, thrown away of even possibly stolen was too great. Unfortunately (or fortunately, who knows) the secret didn't last long. Almost a month later the dragon was the size of Sol's bed and could not be kept hidden from the cleaners anymore.

Khepri's arrival was considered an act of the gods by most people. The fact that a dragon had chosen their princess as its master got Sol even more attention than her siblings, who had achieved just as formidable feats themselves. However, Khepri's behavior in the city was at first... questionable. The dragon had close to zero respect for house rules - meaning he constantly had to be put outside or risk breaking every piece of furniture in the palace. He was also very agitated, which meant that he would often want to leave the city entirely and fly around - albeit never without Sol. The two had formed a powerful bond the second the dragon was born. Khepri's chivalrous and defensive nature makes him act almost as a giant reptilian bodyguard for Sol, acting aggressively towards anyone he deems to bear ill intent towards her.

A couple of months later, Khepri suddenly began speaking of a certain calling of his, concerning the center of Nobilis and the origins of dragons. Although Sol had been used to it - her dragon constantly spoke of his 'calling for justice' - she knew it was different this time. After many weeks of convincing, king Laetanas finally agreed to send her out to Pharus Castle - under the condition that she would be constantly protected by a team of bodyguards. And so, the rider princess, her dragon and a team of personal guards riding massive falcons began their journey to Pharus Castle.

Do you know how long I've wanted to belong to a really detailed dragon/rider roleplay?

Ten years.

Also Alby said I had to make an SU.

Riders Name:
Lyra Aldavaul

Dragons Name:
Lorelai

Riders Race:
Elf
23 years old
Female

Dragons Color and Element:
Color: Sea green
Element: Ice/Water

Rider and Dragon Appearance:

Lyra:
Even from a distance, it is easy to see that Lyra is elven. Her body is svelte, and her skin tone is an almost translucently pale; to say she looks more frail than your standard human could come across as an understatement. Her fair skin is complemented by vibrant strands of aquamarine hair, which flows like a steady stream past her waist, as well as her luminous green eyes; above her right eye is a small scar. Lyra stands at 5'7, making her slightly taller than your average human female, though somewhat shorter than the average elven female.

Lyra's clothing style is…interesting, to say the least. The cold climate she calls home demands its citizens wear warm clothes, which would not be a problem—if not for Lyra's almost unnatural level of clumsiness. Heavy clothes and clunky boots do more harm than good, as their weight causes Lyra to stumble and fall; thus her clothing is all very tight: Insulating her skin and keeping the warmth from her body temperature from escaping into the winter winds.

Lorelai:
bitterness_zpsdc8qo9ao.png

Despite being a dragon of water and ice, Lorelai hardly looks aquatic (or icy); the color of her scales more closely resembles the natural green of a healing dragon, while her powerful, muscular build hardly resembles a creature that represents the calm, easy flow that water tends to be associated with. She does, however, have a fin-like growth on her neck, as well as her tail, which would seem to help her glide through water, as well as sensitive head-fins, which act as a radar system that helps her navigate through the dark waters. When not expanded, her wings seal tightly against her back (similar to the way a dolphin's air hole seals), which likely keeps said wings from interfering while the dragon is underwater.

Riders Hometown:
Isle of Rosaria – A very small isle off the coast of Sancta Sanctis, known for its main export of fish. The springs and summers in Rosaria give a delicate chill to the air, while the autumns and winters can be frigid.

Dragons Abilities:
Scalding Waves – Lorelai creates a powerful Jetstream of water and uses her energy to superheat it, which she then releases from her mouth in order to force foes back, as well as leave them with a terrible burn.

Misty Veil – Lorelai adds water to the air molecules around her, creating a dense fog throughout the area, making it difficult for opponents to see.

Icicle Pillars – Lorelai creates large pillars of frozen water to spear through the ground. These pillars can either be used as a shield, or crushed by Lorelai's tail in order to drop large chunks of ice onto the enemy.

Riders Magic:
Frozen Rapier – Lyra concentrates her energies and forms ice in the shape of a light, nimble sword with a pointed tip; smaller models can be thrown like darts.

Personality:

Oh, honey. Lyra hears these words a great deal, for several reasons: Growing up on such a small, close knit isle, Lyra's social skills are…not the best. The people she knows she has known since a very young age, leaving her with no real knowledge of how to act around those she has never met, or doesn't know very well. Because she is instantly comfortable with everyone (and assumes they are instantly comfortable with her) she has a terrible habit of saying and doing things without thinking them through, leading to awkward and occasionally inappropriate happenstances. The small isle lifestyle has also left her a bit sheltered and naïve for one her age.

Lyra has a tendency to stumble often, likely due to frequent daydreams that have her gazing wistfully towards the clouds, rather than at the small incline, or the ice patch she's about to fumble over. Lyra dreams of adventure, of being a hero, a warrior, a shining knight—something; and this dream occupies her mind more than anything else. Despite these daydreams, Lyra remains very grounded and down to earth, knowing that the odds of someone as frail as she surviving so much as a single battle are incredibly small. These things being said, the elven girl is not always dripping with self-confidence.

Lyra is very tactical: Her daydreams often involve large battlefields, in which she constructs some form of strategy for the noble warriors she sides herself with to come out the victor. Though she is known to jump into social situations without much thought, she is able to take a strategic, analytical approach to other venues of life.

Meanwhile, Lorelai is very proud of her species, and very aware of the power she holds. While Lyra finds it best to analyze the enemy before an assault, Lorelai feels she has no reason to waste such time. She is a dragon: She can crush the majority of their threats with her claws and tail before they so much as raise their weapons.

Dragon and rider are not complete opposites, however. While not as talkative as her rider, Lorelai is a very personable creature, enjoying the company and conversation of others. She even enjoys a good joke now and then (though her dry sarcasm makes it difficult for most to tell when the green beast is making a joke).

History:
Lyra's life was a peaceful one; her mother is a seamstress, and her father is one of Duke Rosearia's guards (a career that is hardly as interesting as it sounds, as not once in Lyra's lifetime has the duke ever been in danger). Being so small, the isle does not offer a great deal of opportunity for career change. Lyra became her mother's assistant, despite a lack of sewing talent, simply because there was no other career possibility for her. As such, her daily life consisted of taking orders, and delivering goods to clients. Such a dull life fed more and more into Lyra's daydreaming habits.

Content in knowing that Lyra had finished her last delivery for the day, she decided to take a small detour on the way home: She would walk by a beautiful stream and allow her mind to wander back to her little world. It was upon reaching the nearly frozen stream that a glorious light reached out to her: Despite the light growing stronger, nearly blinding the elven, Lyra could not help but be filled with a sense of calm and serenity. Her body became cool, when she was certain she should be filled with a burning desire to run away. Something echoed inside her mind, telling her that these stories she weaves within her mind need no longer be mere stories, if she only reach out…

And she did.

The light began to fade as a marvelous blue stone appeared in Lyra's outreached arms, and not long after, that stone began to crack, replaced with a tiny dragon.

Lyra rushed home, enlisting her younger brother's help in hiding the tiny beast. Lyra dubbed the tiny dragon 'Rory' for the first several days, as she would often roar, and it felt much kinder than calling the little creature 'it' or 'the thing' when she and her brother were in public places. It was Lyra's brother who commented that Lyra's dragon stared at her, rather unimpressed, each time she was referred to by the name, and that maybe they should change it to Lorelai—a far more elegant (and not so punny) name.

Within a matter of days it became nearly impossible for the siblings to hide the growing creature on their tiny isle. Both sister and dragon confessed to seeing a castle in their dreams, night after night…as if it were calling to them. A little research was all it took: The castle was Pharus, and it was destiny that was calling them there.

Ellisar Padi, known as Elli to Gawaine, is a relatively young elf. He is among the elven upper-class due to a distant royal relative. He is quite short for an elf, being slightly taller than the average human male. He has short, dark brown hair, which is so thick it is almost water-proof, and light blue eyes. While his family forces him to wear fancy clothes and jewelry to showcase their wealth, he constantly resists their efforts. The only part of the fancy jewelry that he will wear willingly is his headpiece, which is a simple golden band. What he would normally wear, when not being forced to dress as his family is expected to, is a simple tunic and pants, and a soft green cloak. He also wears a simple wooden mask when dressing like this, to conceal his identity. The mask covers only his upper face, and is more of a helmet than a mask, covering the top and sides of his head as well.

Riders Race:
Elf

Riders Hometown:

Glacian City, in the north. A cold town most of the year, however it gets warm for two to three months during the summer. The town is built on the coast, and the structures are mostly built of wood, with few rocks and stones used.

Riders Magic:

First spell: Elie can breath underwater, as long as Gawaine remains close by.

Personality:
Elli is shy, nature-loving, and adventurous. He usually doesn't talk much to anyone except Gawaine, and when he does it's usually forced and blunt. He isn't that good at lying, and if he thinks your an idiot or a snob, you'll be sure that he'll let you know if he talks to you. He also isn't that good at hiding his emotions. If he's sad, mad, or excited, you can tell just by looking at him. It doesn't take much to upset him, and you can be sure that if you do he won't speak to you for a long time, if ever again. While he isn't good at socializing, he loves to explore nature, watch animals, and eat. He loves fresh food, and eats a lot, although you'd never be able to tell by looking at him.

Gawaine
water-dragon-on-command-amazing-beauty-blue-cool-dragon-forest.jpg
Gawaine has a sleek streamlined body, designed for flight both in the air and water. His fins double as wings, and his enormous tail pivots and twists like an owl's head to allow for quick maneuvering and sharp turns. He has five large, although soft, spikes on the front of his head, in addition to three, sharp and tough ones immediately underneath them. His face comes down to a sharp "chin" of sorts, which he uses to spear fish and large sea creatures before eating them. The top of his back sports a tough leathery skin that covers his entire lower body. The skin acts as both an armor and to his rider, a saddle. His front nostrils are positioned to the very front of his face, and are able to spray a liquid that is well below freezing. The liquid causes immediate frostbite upon contact. The breath that comes out of them normally, however, is completely harmless and even serves as a cool breeze during hot months. While extremely agile in the air and in water, on land, Gawaine becomes a blubbering mass of muscle that can't seem to get far without becoming frustrated.

Dragons Color and Element:
Dragon of Water and Ice

Dragons Abilities:

Freezing Breath: His nostrils spray out a stream or mist of liquid that is well below the freezing point of water. The liquid freezes water on contact and causes frostbite.

Protective Mucus: Gawaine has glands on his underbelly that excrete a mucus that resists toxins and kills bacteria. This allows for faster healing when cut on the underbelly, or faster healing for others if applied to their wounds.

Water Condensation: He can condense water in the air around him, causing any clouds he flies near to start raining or snowing. He can also use this ability to make puddles of water on the ground under him to make him more comfortable on land.

Personality:
Gawaine is a cool-headed dragon, both literally and personality-wise. He is always calm and never really gets upset. He rolls with whatever's going on around him. He's friendly towards most creatures and people he meets, and loves to experience new things. He loves sharing, however people usually get upset when he douses them with water to show his affection. He can't seem to grasp the concept of human social interaction, although he loves to try. He likes to be around people, although they usually are living on land, which he has a hard time traversing. He loves flying over large cities and observing the people, although he loves to interact with them more than watching them. His relationship with Elli is unique, as their personalities are similar, although their attitude towards people are different. Elli prefers solitude, but Gawaine has been slowly encouraging him to interact more and be more open to others.

History:
It just didn't seem likely. An egg, out of nowhere. It was odd, and mysterious. Ellisar didn't know what to do. He felt its presence. It was almost like they were connected somehow. He slowly approached it, and picked it up. It was odd, and yet he felt happy. On his way back to his house, carrying the egg, the sky turned cloudy and it began to rain. The odd thing was, it was only raining over him. Two feet to the left was sunshine and dry grass, two feet to the right was a patch of rocks, also dry. He moved, so did the rain. Noticing the pattern, he decided that the egg couldn't go home with him. There was no way he could hide it from his parents. He had to find somewhere to put it.

After finding a cave and setting the egg where it wouldn't roll away, he headed home. For days he visited the egg, making it a nest of blankets and clothing you took from your closet. Eventually the egg hatched. Ellisar raised the little dragon. He played with it, fed it, and talked to it. He felt like he had a strong bond with it, like it understood him. He was surprised when he realized he understood the dragon too. The dragon could talk. And not only that, but it spoke to him in his mind. They became best friends. Ellisar snuck out every night to visit the dragon. Together, they would read books of old tales and stories. The dragon took a liking to a specific book of Ellisar's and because of this took on the name Gawaine.

Eventually, when Gawaine grew large enough, he flew. And soon after, Ellisar was riding him. They would fly together every day, their bond growing stronger. One day Gawaine got a strange feeling. He felt a strange urge to fly south. He said that he must travel to the center of the great plains of Nobilis. Ellisar understood, they were connected, he knew it was important. So, Ellisar packed a bag of clothing, food, and other supplies, and they flew off in the dark of night. His parents would be confused when they found he was missing, but Ellisar didn't care. They never truly understood him. Not the way that Gawaine did.

It only took me all day, but I finally finished. Hopefully the css is readable. I had quite a few issues with it so I hope it doesn't break again.

Overview
Riders Name: Prince Chase Mikhail

Dragons Name: Eddard

Riders Race: Elf

Dragons Color and Element: Iron and Forge - Grey

Rider and Dragon Appearance: Prince Chase stands in a tall height, like his elven siblings in the kingdom. He has light brunette wavy hair and purple eyes that compliment his charming smile. He wears a long white cape with golden accents and a navy blue back, continuing with the theme of gold and white, as it is the kingdom's royal colors, he wears a long sleeved top and white gloves adorned with golden paraphernalia which is only suited on elves with royal linage.

For weapons, he is skilled in many weapons but his go-to device for attack is the daggers, though he keeps them hidden at most times, only to show aggressiveness when it is only needed, and because the laws of his kingdom disallows them to be carried by young elves such as himself.

bY8mWPG.png

Eddard is an elegant dragon with a bulky, long build. He has brown wings, with rusty blue and red patterns. He has mischievous yet wise face of a light gray hue that continues down his crystal-like body and a shiny underbelly which is almost glittering under light.

Riders Hometown: The Drisheen Citadel - an elven castle along the south-western forest ridden mountains, this is where Chase's family reign as the monarchs of the castle, they are well cherished by the people of the land because of the family's affinity and devotion for peace and order, because of this, Drisheen has been known as a kingdom with a plethora of decrees that govern it.

Skills & Magic
Dragons Abilities
  • Equipment Forge - enables Eddard to generate items from rocks and other earthly minerals and transforms them into weapons, armors and equipment of varying degrees of stone and metal. Which gives Chase and himself high level of flexibility in combat.
  • Iron Scales - Eddard covers part of his body (or the entirety of it) with iron scales to dramatically increase both his offense and his defense. These scales are strong enough to shatter rock and bone alike, resilient against regular flames, and much harder than normal iron.
  • Wielding Proficiency - Eddard has a vast knowledge of weapons and equipment that allows him to effectively wield any weapons and attack his opponents tactically.

Riders Magic
  • Metal Scales - a weaker version of Eddard's Iron Scales, Chase covers part of his body that are volatile against heat, piercing and penetration.

Biography
Riders Personality: Chase has somewhat of a rebellious spirit in him, he is the character who can commit himself to a single goal completely, absolutely, and unflinchingly. In pursuit of that goal he has no limits, inhibitions, or fear. Nothing chains him or holds him back - including his royal duties. He always dreams of traveling Nobilis, down to every nook and cranny, but alas, as one of the many rules of Drisheen, he cannot leave the confines of the citadel until he is of age because the people believe that young people cannot fend for themselves. But that hasn't stopped Chase yet.

Despite his privileged life, Chase doesn't act spoiled, he seems to view himself as normal and prefers to work hard to achieve his goals. He has a strong pride, when he finds a goal, he won't stop trying until he achieves it. He is friendly, calm, polite with others and smiles most of the time.

Although, Chase is, in most cases, cowardly and easily frightened, he has no problems with fighting and would happily stand up to danger, even if he ends up getting hurt, his friends and Eddard. Chase has proven to be a capable combatant himself, often using his cleverness to his advantage, and thinking outside the box during battle.

History: Your Riders backstory, include how they met their Dragon and the events that transpired after their Dragon hatched from its egg. End with the Rider heading for Pharus Castle.

Dragon Personality: Eddard is a dragon who is able to be overprotective of the people he loves and believes in, although, Eddard is prominently to be wise and has a calm personality. It is shown that in his younger years, Eddard was quite an impatient dragon who would sometimes cause a few mischief, he can also be carefree and reckless, though playful, he can be quite serious at times. Eddard is characterized by his passion for hard-work and training and believes that everything is possible if these two things are combined, he never fails to train with Chase whenever they have the chance and he shown to teach Chase proficiency in a variety of weapons.

i've expressed my interest in this RP, a WIP SU :)

I saw this and I really just couldn't leave this idly by, but:

Just noting here that my own SU will be for the part of the Wind and Speed dragon.

So I wouldn't bother myself making an SU for it, anyone out there with said desire. ^ ^"

Deceptio decided to post after the fact that he is claiming one of the player slots, so in reality, of the list he posted, there are only 8 accessible slots, not the full 9.

You have to try for another dragon, mate.

And here's my SU! Hope it's good! :D Good luck to everyone else who picked iron ;3

The Prince of Crime

Flynn Cooper / 24 Years Old / Male
eb0df4268e.jpg

Race

Human

Rider Appearance

Being a healthy, young man at the ripe age of 24, Flynn stands around the average height of men his age. He has short-cut, copper-coloured hair and brown eyes. He has a very agile build, though he's clearly seen his share of physical training. Not to the point where he'd win against someone larger than him in a wrestling match, but still.

He dresses in a fairly simple, white tunic, with a brown leather tunic on top of it, which he usually keeps unbuttoned. A fairly expensive-looking belt holds everything together, and a pair of knee-high leather boots keeps his steps nearly silent and his feet protected.

He has a very gentle look about him, but always seems a little wary or twitchy if someone's too close for comfort for him, which isn't all that close, actually. He also wears a small necklace with various, colourful stones he's collected along the beach over the years.

Hidden away underneath his tunic and attached to his belt, he has several little pouches scattered around his person, complete with all kinds of little tricks, to get him out of sticky situations.

Weapon-wise, Flynn carries a one and a half hand sword, which he mostly uses with one hand. He also has a dagger in case he gets disarmed, and a small array of throwing knives.

Personality

Flynn isn't a very impressive person, to be brutally honest. He's wary of others and it takes a while to earn his full trust, even if he himself wants to give it at the first sign of the person in question being nice.

Generally, he's very curious and excited about the world, having only lived in Regalia his entire life. While the city is large and he's seen basically all of it, there's a whole world out there to look at. And he's definitely planning to, once he can gather up the courage to break his own boundaries and comfort zone.

Rider Magic

Transmutation: Flynn is able to touch anything made of iron, specifically, and change the shape of it. He could, for example, touch a small iron bar, and create a throwing knife.

Hometown

Regalia, the human capital.

Ferrus / Male / Blackish-grey / Iron
2b677c870b.jpg

(Note, the Ferrus depicted here is somewhat larger than he should be at age three weeks, but it's the best picture I could find. So just imagine this guy, but younger!)

Personality

Ferrus is much different to him. Very quickly, the young dragon found the secret to having a good life; Doing whatever you want, whenever you want. He's a firm believer in following your heart and your emotions, no matter what good or bad might come from it.

In public, he's often very quiet. Only speaking when spoken to (And sometimes not even then), or whenever something -needs- to be addressed. Mostly, he seems amused to just hang back and see what everyone else decides on. It's easy to tell that if Flynn hadn't connected with him the way he did, Ferrus would be roaming the countryside, lazily having himself a nibble on some poor farmer's sheep, or seeing what would happen if he dropped a cart from a few hundred meters in the air. Thankfully though, the boy seems to make him see reason, and Ferrus in turn, helps Flynn push his boundaries just a little further every day.

Abilities

Molten Iron Breath: You think breathing fire is devastating? Wait until you get a load of molten metal sprayed all over you, then. Not as great reach as your regular fire breath, but still enough to prove VERY dangerous.

Iron Coating: Covers specific areas of the dragon's body in a metallic sheen, which can be used as a last-minute, heavy defense, or to coat claws, tail or teeth, for devastating damage.

Reforge: With just a touch, Ferrus is able to repair nearly any metallic object and bring it back to the state it was meant to be.

Riders Name:
Dathanar

Dragons Name:
Vulfaasah

Riders Race:
Elf

Dragons Color and Element:
Both the egg and the dragon are black, the color of Darkness and Deception

Rider and Dragon Appearance:
Dathanar wears the silver armor of an ancient hero found in the tomb he called home. He wears a helmet in the image of an eagle. Out of the back of the helmet, a black plume sticks out and falls to his waist. Over his armor he wears a blue cloak around his neck. In battle he wields a great sword with uncharacteristic ease for an elf.

Riders Hometown:
Graycrest: A reclusive coastal elven city in the north-west

Dragons Abilities:
•The ability to make enemies terrified. (Affects Dathanar unless he is focused)
•The ability to channel his power through Dathanar's blade. (Vulfaasah is exhausted after doing this)
•The ability to turn a foe against his comrades. (Does not affect strong minded enemies)

Riders Magic:
Dathanar has the ability to use his magic to see in the darkness. Since he using magic, he can actually see better in the dark than he does in light.

Personality:
Dathanar is reclusive and cynical, trusting no one but himself and assessing the weaknesses of everyone he meets. Years spent in dark isolation left him unconcerned about the lives around him, with the exception of Vulfaasah, of course. The dragon grew up with its rider, so it became accustomed to dark places and isolation.

History:
Greycrest. A northwestern elven city that lives secluded not only from other lands, from the sun itself. Clouds and fog have long obscured the city from the sun. As a result, the skin of those who live there has become pale. It was once described as "a heartless abyss, drawing happiness from those who travel there."

Of Dathanar himself, nothing is known. His past is filled with little more than rumors.

The Noble Exile
Rider's Name:
Formerly: Tyron Algray
Presently: Zile

Dragon's Name:
Alyra

Rider's Race:
Human

Rider's Age:
36

Dragons Color and Element:
White |Wind Element

Rider and Dragon Appearances:
Tyron is a ragged, middle aged man with as many scars as he has muscles. His slicked back auburn hair creases into shaggy waves at the sides and he always has a bit of stubble due to more than a little infrequent bours of shaving, occasionally he allows it grow into a short beard... But he dislikes the itchy sensation it brings him. His eyes are a stark and intelligent shade if grey, yet often contorted into a wild and unwieldy expression. A free spirit with the patience and thought of a sage. His lips are slim and refined, his jaw chiseled and his skin pale, cleared of blemishes apart from the wounds of battle, implying a noble heritage. Though such things are often overlooked due to his rugged sense of apparel and build.

Muscular, yet slim enough to show profound athleticism, Zile has the expected body type for someone whom so often fights and runs. His travels bringing many the experience to tone his body practically. He is aware that he is attractive, though that sort of physical appeal is neither here nor there for him. He doesn't exactly make an effort to maintain himself as a result. If nothing else, Alyra makes him bathe regularly now.

He wears an old, black noble cloak. Upon the right side of the chest, a crest once sat, however it appears to have been ripped off to leave naught but frayed black fabric. The coat itself is kept in decent condition considering Ziles life choices. A tear here, fray there, but passable. Beneath this he wears a cream workers shirt, commonly seen beneath town guard armor, and a pair of black, lightly armored leather pants, again common among guards. His boots are a solid leather, a fine pair in black, but nothing extravagant. Apart from this all he wears is his bronze, armored gauntlet, stained red at the knuckles from "excessive use".

Alyra can be seen at the bottom of this SU, a white feathered dragon of average size and composition.

Hometown:
Zile hails originally from Regalia, worked as a guard for two years in Cullis and has spent the last month or so as a nomad on the plains surrounding Pharus castle.

Dragon's Abilities:
1 - Voice of the Planet
Alyra concentrates on her power and energy by inhaling a large amount of air and exhaling it at such a great speed that it acts as a breath of blades. The wind flowing from her lungs moving so quickly that it can cut through stone.

2 - Petal in the Maelstrom
Alyra focuses the image attributes of spped and wind in her veins to become as one with the wind. Moving quicker than any other dragon can, she releases energy to gain a burst of speed, propelling herself in a chosen direction. Useful for dodging, attacking and aerial maneuvers.

3 - Winged Hurricane
Alyra moves her wings at an intense speed while gripping the Earth to avoid taking off. Becoming a vessel for the wind that flows through her, she releases it all in a localized space and surrounds herself in a powerful storm of wind. None can pass these impenetrable walls of wind, those outside can not enter, those trapped in the eye cannot leave. Any foolish enough to try will be swept away and ground to pulp by the rushing force.

Rider's Magic:
1 - Sudden Gale
Zile leaps forward, propelled by the wind that guides him. He can use this technique to deliver a powerful, forceful blow from a distance, or to simply jump higher and farther than any mortal should.

2 - ???

3 - ???

Personality:
A fool running from the past? Or a free spirit without a cause? Zile could be either, Tyron may be both. Jovial, rough in his phrasing and blunt as a mace, Zile is as he wants to be and he doesn't want for much more than a man going wherever it is the wind takes him. He has a bit of a temper and doesn't care much for stuck up folk or killjoys who like to ruin a good time. He cracks jokes, drinks ale and fights for fun. He is passionate, free spirited, risky and forward. He cares little for formality and most importantly, he does not bow to anyone.

But this is not how he was raised to be. Beneath this new self lies traces of a cast off shell. A surprisingly vadt storage of intelligence and patience, Zile despises nobles, but Tyron Algray knows how to play their games. He is capable of trickery, manipulation and political etiquette, in fact many who drag the topic from him are surprised by his deep knowledge if it... But that is the man he was, not the man he is today. He lost too much to the Letty games of the upper class to play by their rules, if he is to use any of what he learned it will be for the betterment of himself or to mentally torment the belittling bigots he once stood amidst.

Alyra is much the opposite of her Rider. Quiet, shy and introverted. She is the calming breeze to Ziles raging tornado. She dislikes combat and violence immensely and prefers to dwell on past teachings, rather than pushing directly on to the present. She understands why Zile despises nobility and authority, but she does not share his distaste. She believes that good leaders must exist for kingdoms to be built, lives saved, people protected and indeed for Riders to soar.

She tries to be talkative despite her insecurities, though she often comes across as awkward and retreats into herself upon talking to new people. She only seems to trust Zike fully and the evenings she can be heard giving light snorts if amusement or annoyance as her and her rider share hours of private conversation. She loves him, very deeply. Though she is young, personality is almost instinctual to her kind... And the insecurities she was gifted are crippling to her confidence. Zile makes her feel better, from day one he has looked at her with affection and reassured her concerns. Almost as if he had been doing it his entire life. She does not enjoy fighting, but for him she would kill, for him she would die.

She is the calming breeze to soothe his heart. He is the powerful gale to lift her wings.

Alright, SU is up! Few things I guess I should throw out there. First of all, I went for the healing dragon mostly because White Noise has not finished hers yet, and its been a bit since she lasted updated, so...yeah.

Also, screw you Bastian for taking nearly my exact idea! I was halfway through when I saw you upload yours, and scrapped half my character. Made mine a bit more interesting in my opinion though.

Finally, screw CSS. I forgot how much I hate it, and I didn't even make a complicated one.

Dragon%2BFinal.png

Riders Name: Idora Mhuire (24, Female)

Dragons Name: Morenth (Female)

Riders Race: Human

Dragons Color and Element:

Element: Healing and Nature
Color: Teal

Rider and Dragon Appearance: Idora prefers darkness and for others not to see her. Those who
Thief%2BGood.jpg
do see her usually see nothing but a flash of cloaks usually accompanied by two short blades, but those who have seen her for what she is find a relatively attractive woman. She luckily inherited her good looks from her mother, a concubine valued entirely for her appearance, and not from her much less attractive noble father. While her build is lacking in the curves valued amongst most men, her body suits her well for her usual activities. She is somewhat tall amongst other women, standing at about five foot nine and has a slight build with few curves.

When her face is not shadowed by a cloak, her most noticeable feature is her deep blue eyes set in a blemishless face. Her hair, a black as a raven, is cropped somewhat short, falling just barely to the level of her shoulders. She mostly keeps it tied up behind her head to keep the hair from getting in her face, one thing which annoys her immensely. For clothing, she usually wears more form fitting clothing than most any human woman, preferring mobility to any sort of fashion sense. Over her normal "travel" clothes she typically wears a large grey cloak, using it to hide her features and disguise her movements.

Morenth is slightly smaller than the average dragon, both in terms of overall size and also in build. Rather than being bulky like some dragons, she is more lithe and serpentine than most dragons. This makes her somewhat ill suited for fighting, usually being overpowered by larger opponents, making her fighting style more focused on maneuverability and using tricks to defeat others. She is colored with a deep blue green color like the waters of a swamp. Her wings are not a membrane like many dragons, but instead resemble more of an eagle's wings having feathers rather than a thin membrane of skin or scales.

Riders Hometown: Regalia

Dragons Abilities:

Regeneration: Morenth is capable of healing minor injuries incredibly quickly, ranging from minor scratches and burns to more serious cuts. The amount of time spent regenerating depends on the severity of the wound. For example, a simple slash might take a few seconds, a broken wing a dozen, and healing a limb that may have been cut off would take a few minutes. While able to replace limbs to a certain degree, there is a limit. Organs that are damaged can be healed, but not as easily, and replacing an organ is impossible after it is completely removed or damaged severely to the point where it stops functioning. This ability can be used both on herself as well as others, but healing others takes much more energy and time to perform.

Snare: Through the use of nature, Morenth is able to capture and snare enemies. These snares take about a dozen seconds to deploy, but are invisible to most enemies as well as allies after deployed. These snares are usually created through the use of plants, using the existing root system and having roots, vines and other plants erupt and capture an enemy after they come too close to the area (usually directly on top of the trap). That being said, snares can also be set using other elements of nature, such as causing clouds to erupt in lightning when traveled through, or altering wing currents dramatically to throw off enemies. Changing these much more insubstantial elements of nature is much more difficult though, and takes a considerable amount of time and energy, not to mention skill, to set up properly.

Weather Alteration: Morenth is able to change basic weather patterns, such as chaning a cloudy day into storms, or banishing clouds to reveal the sun. The more dramatic the change, the more energy this requires. For example, changing a sunny day into one filled with storms is nearly impossible without massive amounts of energy. Because of this, only minor changes can be made like encouraging clouds already filled with water to suddenly start raining, or to bring weak cloud cover to obscure the sun. While she is able to change the weather, she has no direct control over it. She can summon a storm, but not control where and when lightning happens for example. This change lasts for at least a few hours, although it does depend on the weather summoned. A storm will last as long as there remains water in the clouds for example.

Riders Magic:

Mend: Idora is able to heal basic injuries, usually anything up to a broken bone. This healing requires energy from herself, and the more severe the injury the more energy it saps from her own strength. Similar to her dragon, organs are mostly beyond her, at least with her knowledge level. Any injury that she heals suffers no side effects that one might normally have with such an injury, like losing mobility or feeling in the area of the injury.

Personality: Idora is like a person split in terms of who she is. On one hand, her unpleasant and dark upbringing left her with a damaged mind and conscious. But on the other, more recent events have started to bring her back from that dark pit where she once was. Through her dedication to the Goddess Niasis, goddess of light and purity, as well as her pairing to her dragon, she has become more and more averse to fighting, though her instinct that are burned into her scream against the idea.

Despite the moral war inside herself, as a person she has remained mostly the same. She doesn't like to talk much, and especially hates to talk about herself. She is a fairly analytical person, taking in all the elements of a situation and trying to best react to those elements. She is not a huge fan of working in groups, not trusting most others in the slightest. She also can be fairly manipulative, much to her dragon's displeasure.

Speaking of her dragon, Morenth acts as a moral anchor for Idora. While Idora has mixed feelings about killing and violence in general, Morenth is highly opposed to it. She will fight if she has too, but she is almost incapable of killing any enemy, preferring to capture or otherwise incapacitate her opponents. Morenth, once again unlike Idora, is much more of an open book. She is more active in talking with others than her rider, and likes to share experiences and feelings with others to better understand and learn things.

History: Idora was neither born as a high born, nor a peasant, but somewhere in the middle as the bastard daughter of a court noble. Being base born from a noble earned her at least some rights, as her father decided to support her to some level at the very least. It helped that Idora's mother was her father's favorite concubine, and so she was able to grow up in at least a decent standard of living. However, at only a few years of age, her mother died from some sickness, leaving her with just her father, one who refused to acknowledge her, at least on the surface.

It is believed that Dalien's, Idora's father, wife Koran secretly poisoned Idora's mother out of spite, and soon after she demanded that Dalien put out all his bastard children. As Dalien had married up into the royal court, he felt obliged to follow his wife's instruction, and so put out all his children. However, he would not abandon his half dozen or so illegitimate children, and he tried his best to place them all in positions in life where they could at least have a decent life. Some found themselves placed in positions in merchant families, others in lower offices in the army or in mercenary groups. Idora herself at the age of six was placed under the care of Haern, a man known to few, but known under his alias as the King's Watcher.

Idora seemed to have held a special place in her father's heart, and so he had placed her in a position to become a spy and assassin for the court. Haern turned out to be a kind but forceful teacher, and thought little of the distinction between men and women when it came to ability. Under his teaching, Idora went through most of her life training and eventually going out on missions for her king. She became adept at wielding most weapons, became skilled in stealth and lockpicking, and was very skilled at the art of torture. The position had little room for feelings such as compassion and mercy, and so she was taught, brainwashed really, to push away these thoughts. From these experiences her conscious became seared, never flinching at violence and bloodshed.

By age nineteen, she was a respected tool of the court, fulfilling missions often, nearly always resulting in success. However, things changed rapidly when her father, who she had not spoken to ever since her appointment to the King's Watcher, staged a coup vying for the crown. Although bloody, he and the other conspirators were squashed thoroughly and sentenced to death. In a display of force, the king put to death his whole family, even going as far as tracking down his bastard children and having them put to death as well.

Idora's placement had been more secretive than most, but she knew it would only be a matter of time before the connections were made and her head would roll as well. With the help of Haern, she escaped the castle and fled. She ran from Regalia, traveling from city to city, primarily making money from stealing from others, often breaking into the estates of royals, usually taking just enough to survive and to not be noticed. Eventually she found herself living somewhat permanently in Tarja, stealing for a living and occasionally hiring her skills out as a mercenary.

Fate had other plans for her though, once again tearing her away from the regularity she had achieved in Tarja. Although a thief herself, she still had some sense of right and wrong from her service to the crown, and so one of her favorite pastimes was to steal from other thief guilds. After angering one guild one too many times, she was ambushed and barely escaped with her life, leaving her attackers bleeding strewn across the rooftops. Heavily injured herself, she collapsed somewhere in the city, only to be found a few hours later by a priestess of Niasis who brought Idora back to the temple for healing.

Idora woke a few days later to find her wounds either healed by the godly magic of Niasis or bandaged thoroughly and cleanly. Her situation was explained to her by a priest, and after explaining he insisted on her staying in the temple for a while to allow herself to recover. It was here that her new life began, and through conversations with the kind priest she came to know the goddess that had healed her. Finding herself spiritually enlightened, she came to a conundrum. She made her entire living off of killing and stealing, both things that Niasis renounced. She was still unsure of herself when she left the temple a few days later, and through prayer and contemplation, she decided to act as the balance aspect of Niasis, who represented light and purity, but also as a balance between the other gods.

She changed her ways to cease from her stealing from the innocents she had threatened before, now instead protecting those innocent civilians against the thief guilds. The priest warned her of her ways, that one could not truly follow Niasis in such a way, and that having such an internal conflict of peace and violence would tear her apart, but she would not heed him.

It was a few months after that when Idora when she discovered a shining orb during her battle against the thieves that she discovered a small orb among their other stolen goods. She could only carry so much, so she slipped the orb in her bag and torched the rest of the warehouse to deny the thieves their goods. Only when she returned to her small home on the outskirts of the city did she discover that the orb had cracked into pieces to reveal a small serpent who crawled shakily out of her backpack and onto the floor.

The dragon, for that's what it was, she named Morenth, after a famous paladin of her goddess. While her injury and the priest had set Idora on the path of having her mind healed of the darkness that she had lived in, her dragon having the attributes of healing and nature completely banished that darkness from her mind and conscious. Realizing what had happened, she quickly abandoned her small room in the city and fled to the wilderness in order to raise the dragon away from prying eyes who would want to steal Morenth from her. Within a week the dragon was able to converse with her, and only a couple more weeks before Morenth was what Idora guessed to be the size of a normal adolescent dragon, easily large enough to ride.

The two made a strange pair, Morenth a very compassionate dragon who disliked violence, particularly killing, and then Idora who had been scarred from her past, and now was like a child lost in the woods, lacking direction. Morenth proposed a goal for the two of them to focus on, the ruins of Pharus. She alluded that there was some reason why she needed to go there, and Idora agreed to accompany her there, lacking any other direction or ideas at the moment.

Hahah, sorry Star! Didn't mean to steal any ideas. For what it's worth, I do really like the dynamic you've set up for your characters. :)
And I do also see a lot of similarities between the two of our characters. They're almost opposites between dragons and riders, which is interesting.

And I hope you at least liked my SU! I definitely enjoyed reading yours :D

Haha, no worries Bastian. But yeah, my idea was almost exactly similar to your in that they were going to be the son/daughter of the leader of a thief guild, and then rebel against them and try to sabotage them. That being said, I really did like how I ended up using my character as being real dark with a pacifist dragon. Should make things interesting.

Eh, screw it. Considering I can't outperform anyone when it comes to writing and would most certainly never want to take someone else's position, count me out.
