Beyond Space And Time: A Sinnoh Journey

Hello, there! Welcome to the exciting world of Pokémon! My name is Cedar, a Pokémon Professor here in the vast and breathtaking Sinnoh Region. I can tell from the look in your eyes that you're all quite eager to skip over all this premilinary talk and skip right down to the nitty gritty, so let's get right down to business. Congratulations! You're now an official Pokémon trainer! Kudos and backpats all around!

I know it must have been an actual chore, waiting for the time to come of age. I can't blame you, honestly. That law that upped the required age to 15 years old to obtain a trainer's liscence came at the worst possible time. But after that whole Galactic mess that arose five years ago, allowing ten year olds and criminals who more or less act like crazed cultists to run around with creatures that contain the power to melt cities and cause earthquakes seemed a bit irresponsible. Regardless, you managed to buckle down to your studies and passed your final exams here at the Sandgem Town Pokémon Academy with flying colors. Now, all that's left to do is claim your starting Pokémon and finally begin your journey across the wide and fruited plains.

But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves just yet. A lot here has changed in Sinnoh over the course of just five years. I'm sure you're all familiar with Cyrus and Team Galactic, the group led by that crazed sociopath who dreamed of creating his own world by harnessing the powers of legendary Pokémon such as Dialga and Palkia? Well, thankfully his plans were thwarted through the combined efforts of three young trainers and the former champion of the Sinnoh region, Cynthia. The strange thing is the man seemed to vanish without a trace, leaving his would-be followers behind. Many of them were arrested, with several even being commited for being quite insane. It was after that whole incident that many of the changes began to happen around Sinnoh. Professor Rowan saw the timing right to finally step into retirement. After holding the title for many years, Champion Cynthia was finally bested in battle by a couragous and heroic blue-haired girl. More importantly though, a technicological revolution began to take place here in the Sinnoh region.

The famed PokéTech company of yore was purchased by an exciting new company now as the Hexcorp, and they began to help our beloved region finally step into the modern era along the likes of Unova and Kalos. While many were supicious of the comapny to begin with, they have truly went above and beyond expectations to truly make the lives of those in Sinnoh better. They even took it upon themselves to help rehabilitate those who were involved in Team Galactic by offering them jobs and training them to readjust back to a normal life. The company is even responsible for crafting those new, state of the art Pokédexes your carrying. Many of those who live in Sinnoh have begun to turn their backs upon the old legends and myths, instead openly embracing the infinite possibilities of the new and exciting futures that await before them. All in all, it seemes an exciting time is ahead of us all.

And that brings me to you lot. Now that you're brought up to speed, it's time to figure out what you will do with your budding career as an official Pokémon trainer! Perhaps you'll embark on the time honored tradition of the Sinnoh League, eventually challenging Champion Dawn for her title! Maybe you'd like to undertake the possibility of taking to the stage to become a world famous Pokémon Contestant, acquiring various ribbons as you travel the region. Do you want to catch them all? Maybe you don't have the slightest clue what you actually plan to do with your future, and that's just fine too. If there's anything we've learned in the world of Pokémon, it's that any dream can be obtained as long as you believe in the power of yourself and your companions!

~How The RP Works~

Progression:
In general, we will be spending one week in many areas of the Sinnoh region. This should give people time to complete whatever tasks they plan to undertake when entering a new area for the first time, catch a new Pokémon, ect. At certain points, usually if there's a major plot point to be had or if we enter a city that has a gym or contest, we will stay within the area for an extended period of time in order to make sure everyone who wants to take on the gym or partake in the contest has a chance to do so before moving on.

JPs:
While interactions between characters are great, they can be a poison to RPs as well. I've been in several RPs that a promising start, only to die out because they enter a hell of unfinished joint posts where people end up either never finishing them or drop off the face of the planet into some unescapable vortex. While I love to see the interactions between interesting and varying personalities of characters, keep in mind that their exchanges don't need to always be constant and a novel in length. If John Doe is going out to catch a Psyduck, don't invite half the cast to make it some expansive JP about hunting one down. That isn't to say I'm going to rush the RP along to finish it at a lightning pace, mind you. The RP will wait for a bit if you manage to fall behind, especially if actual progress is being made to an important JP (or at least, one you feel is important), but it won't grind to a stop to wait three weeks for a JP to be completed. Try to keep your JPs reasonable and well-managed in regard to time.

Pokémon:
You're allowed to catch one Pokémon per stage if wild Pokémon are present. Trading is allowed between players along with occasional NPCs that might be created. Pokémon not native to Sinnoh will be appearing in the RP as well, so don't feel like you're going to be restricted to only those that appeared in the original Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. There's no need to wait for GM approval when making a catch. The only requirements are that you make sure that the post is a good one and that it is the only Pokémon you plan to catch for the stage. There's no levels or anything being used to keep track of things for the most part in this RP. You're allowed to choose when they learn a new move. That said, try to keep things reasonable. Don't be heading into the first gym with a Charizard knowing Inferno. Failure to follow these guidelines may force you into a retcon or possible removal from the RP.

Setting:
As stated above, the events of Platinum are canon. The story of this RP takes place roughly five or so years after the game. For the sake of the plot, Dawn, Lucas, and Barry were all involved with the Galactic incidents from the beginning up to Mt. Coronet. Players will be starting out in Sandgem Town, having just recently graduated from the Pokémon Academy that was established there during the time between Platinum's ending and the start of this RP. For simplicity's sake, your character roughly spent three years studying there. At the start of the RP, you will be just now set to begin your adventure, having just received your starter Pokémon and the Pokédex from Professor Cedar.

~Starter Pokémon~

Pokémon from all seven generations are available for use. There are only a few prerequirements to take note of. First of all, the Pokémon must be at its base form. Second, it must have two evolutions before it is fully evolved. This means Pokémon such a Squirtle, Pidgey, and Shinx for example. Each starter will begin the RP knowing the first four moves of its natural learn set, with a maximum of six moves being allowed at any one time. Your starter Pokémon may come knowing one Egg Move or TM as opposed to all four of its first moves being from its natural moveset. From there, the starter Pokémon will learn all of its moves in order as defined by the natural move set. As far as Abilities are concerned, feel free to give them any ability that the Pokémon could naturally have. Hidden Abilities are allowed.

Age: At least 15 years old is required. Since these are graduates, I wouldn't expect many to go past the age of 20 or 21, but be reasonable. No fresh out of school 48 year olds.

1. Show respect to your fellow players. Don't use their character or anything of the sort without permission.

2. While learning moves and catching a Pokémon is free game, evolution needs to be checked by the GM. Just shoot me a DM here on PC, or hit me up on Discord. If your Pokémon requires an item to evolve, such as a Fire Stone, and your character already has it in their possession, then feel free to evolve it whenever.

3. This RP is rated T. As a result, this means things such as violence, romance, and stronger language are allowed, but please keep it to a respectable level to match this rating. No amount of outright gore, like someone getting a head ripped off or on-screen sexual acts. Stronger langauge like a "damn" or "hell" are acceptable as well.

4. Obey all the regular rules of the RP section, as well as all general rules of The Pokécommunity forum as a whole.

5. No duplicate starters will be allowed, so if you want a specific pokémon to be your starter mention it in the OOC thread before making your SU to avoid people getting their hopes up. Do be aware that nothing is stopping someone from competing against you for that pokémon regardless. There are no reservations either.

"Let's make a splash!"

Rei Junno / Female / 17 Years Old / Iki Town, Alola

Appearance

Standing at a height of 5'5", Rei is a girl of average height. She sports a rather slender body build, along with a sun-kissed skin complexion as a result of the amount of time that she spends outside. She wears her brown hair rather messy and short, which is complimented by her aqua-green eyes. Despite the fact that Sinnoh is usually on the cooler side, Rei prefers to dress rather light. She likes to wear shorts and sandals, at times even going outright barefoot if she can get away with it. She usually wears her swimsuit with her clothing, often letting that serve as the top to her daily outfit. A pair of fingerless, black gloves are almost always worn over her hands and she carries her trusty trainer's bag over her right shoulder. As of graduation, she wears her PokéChecker, a combination of watch and Pokédex that was created by the Hexcorp, on her right wrist.

Personality

A bubbly and energetic young woman, Rei is always eager to try anything that comes her way. She is quite the active young lady, always preferring to be on the move as opposed to just waiting around in one spot. Because of this, it is quite easy for others to view her as a bit hyperactive. Truth be told, they wouldn't be exactly wrong. Rei tends to be a bit loud at times, often letting her voice and tone get the better of her. Back before she entered the academy, Rei lived in Iki Town in the tropical region of Alola. As a result, she enjoys spending her time outdoors whenever possible. She tends to act without thinking, something that can lead her to a bit of trouble and has done so on more than one occasion. She is blunt and honest to a fault, rarely mincing words when describing how someone or something makes her feel. Some would consider Rei a bit of a tomboy, and she will not deny it.

Aspirations

Rei has one dream, which is to become the greatest Water Type trainer in the history of the world. Idolizing trainers such as Misty from the Kanto region and Wallace from the Hoenn region, Rei hopes to train and form a team of nothing, but Water Types and complete the Sinnoh League challenge. She wishes to prove that it takes more than a sharp leaf or a shocking zap of electricity to take down the aquatic masters of the Pokémon world.

History

Rei was born and raised in the Alola region's Iki Town. Her father and mother both worked at the Pokémon Center's cafe located on the outskirts of Hau'oli City outskirts. Although she was an only child, Rei never really grew up lonely. She had plenty of friends located back in Iki City and was known to spend quite often playing with the family Rockruff on the beaches of Route 1, usually until sunset. The family never really had a great deal of money, but they managed to get by and they were happy. This in itself was more than enough for Rei. That said, her father and mother both wanted the girl to have something more in life than they did.

Rei's parents had actually given birth to her at a very young age. Her father was barely 18 at the time, making things very difficult for the young, newly wed couple. While her parents' love for each other never really diminished over the years, they had to admit that things would have been much easier if they were a little bit older when Rei was born, as well as had better jobs in which to support a family. It was this thought, along with the ever changing world around them, that caused her parents to start looking into better educational opportunities for Rei. Eventually, the two would hear wind of the newly established Pokémon Academy located in Sinnoh's Sandgem Town. While neither parent had really ever had a strong taste for the life of a trainer, Rei always seemed to be vastly interested in Pokémon. She was already known to spend a great deal of time with the family's pet Rockruff. The young girl was known to watch various trainer battles on the beaches and she adored watching televised matches on television whenever she had the chance. As a result, it just seemed natural for the parents to find someway to enroll their daughter in the school. Not only would this provide Rei with a chance to better herself with a good education, but it would give her a chance to interact and learn even more about Pokémon.

It should have been a win-win situation. Rei however, was not too thrilled about the sudden realization that she was going to be moving to the Sinnoh region for schooling. Gone would be the crystal clear waves that she adored surfing and swimming in. No longer would she have the chance to go for early morning jogs on the beach or hang out with her friends in the shopping district of Hau'oli City. Initially, this caused a great rift between herself and her parents, particularly her father and her. The two would often find themselves arguing over the smallest of things... that is until one day. Rei was watching another televised battle, one between Sinnoh's Crasher Wake and Kanto's Misty. The girl had always had a fascination with Pokémon, especially those of the Water persuasion. She suddenly had a great idea, where she could use her time at the Pokémon academy to learn how to be an official trainer. She had always felt that Water Types, even though there were several famous trainers who specialized in them, got a bit of a reputation as being easy to defeat. Rei decided that she would make it her personal goal to change that... by becoming a Pokémon champion who only specialized in Water Type Pokémon.

Hometown: Solaceon / Celestic Town, Sinnoh

Physical Appearance: Silvana is a somewhat petite girl standing at 5'2'' (158 cm) and weighing 101 pounds (46 kg). She has a pear-shaped body type, with most of her strength in her lower body due to the time-honed trainer tradition of traveling on foot all the time. Her clothing is hand-made and a little rough around the edges, a lace blouse and humble mini skirt accompanied by matching boots with nice, thick heels. Though unrefined, Silvana has a pretty strong natural beauty to her person. Her big, wavy, shoulder-length auburn hair is always at least brushed meticulously and her golden eyes would likely stand out in a room--if not for one other jarring detail...

Her armor. Consisting of a matching tiara, breastplate, throat guard, bracers and mantle, Silvana's ornate blue armor with a golden trim is a sight to behold. It really doesn't cover all that much of her body, only really protecting her chest adequately, however it's thankfully not all that heavy as a result. The various pieces are all segmented, allowing the armor to give under pressure without breaking easily. However it is unlikely that the metal would do more than blunt the trauma received from most pokemon attacks, leaving one to wonder why she wears it.

Personality: Silvana is obsessed with the idea of magic in particular, dedicating a lot of her time to the pursuit and study of it, however difficult it may be. This obsession tends to eclipse many of her other interests, even to the point of impacting her social life. She tends to come off as weird to others, if not because of the strange way she dresses than because she is hard pressed not to bring up her area of interest to anyone who asks. Beyond that though she's a rather sassy, somewhat down-to-earth, if not slightly buffoonish girl--innocently ignorant of some social norms and seemingly incapable of avoiding trouble for long. She has a somewhat spicy temper and tends to get along poorly with people who disparage magic, demonstrate a large ego and--perhaps ironically--buffoons. Although her study of magic in all its forms and the occult comes first, she is rather fight-prone and proud of her power. To Silvana, her pokemon are her assistants--there to protect and stand up for her. Yet, they also hold secrets to the mysticism of the world just out of reach. She is a pretty kind trainer, preferring to work with her pokemon instead of forcing them to do things against their will.

Silvana has a sort of lowkey resentment toward Sinnoh's increasing technological advancement. To put it in her own words, science is a crutch. If she becomes a great magician, she shouldn't need technology to achieve her goals! Somehow this has not stopped her from acting in ways that might come off as a bit jealous to others, though. This is likely because she had no access to a lot of technology growing up. She was raised in Celestic Town, one of the most stalwart holdouts against the onset of the new age.

Aspirations: Silvana wants to explore the occult world of pokemon. She wants to uncover the secrets of magic and learn to use it herself, with and without the aid of her pokemon. She'd then like to put what she learned to test against other trainers. Becoming a champion would be a nice goal to strive for to this end, however, she'd be perfectly content to see how far she gets. Ideally, Silvana would like to collect as much knowledge as she can and, given enough time, become a lorekeeper of magic and mysticism. She'd then like to share this magic with others, becoming a teacher and researcher.

History: Silvana was born in Solaceon Town, however, she spent a lot of her life living with her grandmother in Celestic Town under rather unfortunate circumstances. At the age of 4, her father failed to return home from work one day and she was sent to her grandmother's while her mother went off in search of him. This turned into an extended stay when Silvana's mom failed to find him but was reluctant to give up the search. She would be moved back and forth from time to time as her mother chased new leads and again had to give up and return home. Silvana's grandmother helped her mother raise her until the age of 11, where her mother also seemingly vanished. Unable to go and search for her mother herself, Silvana was left alone in her house in Solaceon Town for days until she gathered the courage (and hunger) to go out and ask for help from her neighbors.

Taking a step back to the age of 4, though, Silvana became obsessed with the idea of magic while living with her grandmother for the first time. She was inspired by the whimsical yet powerful nature of her grandmother's jigglypuff and wanted to be able to experiment with such powers herself. However, this was easier said than done. Unable to read for herself, she had to ask her grandmother for help. Her grandmother was initially hesitant to feed these fantasies, as she didn't believe humans could use magic to any meaningful extent unless they were born with a special talent and didn't know how to help Silvana. However, she relented and began reading her stories of witches, magicians and fantastic worlds that Silvana came to love. It became her obsession to search for these worlds and explore the ideas they imprinted on her. Although they mostly led to dead ends, she was able to get some insight into this new, fantastic world.

However, this was not the sort of power from within she had been looking for. When it came to finding power within herself, she found herself struggling a lot more. To this end, she was soon given a talk about learning how to take care of herself and becoming a better, well-rounded young lady. Understandably, her grandmother wouldn't be around forever and wanted to make sure that Silvana was ready for that inevitable reality. Silvana would then be sent off to Sandgem Town to learn more about what it meant to be on her own, as well as what it meant to take care of a pokemon.

Rival: None! For now. A part of me would prefer to let Silvana develop rivalries organically.

Decided to pull up a character from an old journey RP, with some slight alterations.

Name: Lucas (Luke) Laramie

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Hometown: Fuschia City, Kanto.

Physical Appearance: Luke is approximately 5'9" with gray eyes and short brown hair that's almost always covered up by his favorite cowboy hat which resembles the hide of a Tauros. He has a fairly toned physique from working on a farm most of his life. He typically has a dark brown bandana tied around his neck. The rest of his attire consists of standard blue jeans with a brown leather belt and gold Tauros belt buckle, leather cowboy boots, and a gray plaid button up shirt.

Personality: Luke is an explorer at heart and loves sight-seeing. Any time he has a chance to see an old monument or crawl around an unknown cave he doesn't hesitate to run to it. He is also kind-hearted and has a tendency to drop what he's doing to help a person or pokémon in need. While being a positive thing this is also a flaw of his as he has been known to put too much on his plate.

Luke has an affinity for hooved pokémon as most of his years have been spent wrangling Tauros from the backs Ponyta or tending to Miltank in barns. His previous experience with Tauros has also given him a knack for dealing with enraged and out of control beasts. His southern Kanto accent, typical of the Laramie bloodline, also adds to his cowboy-ish charm.

Aspirations: His main goal is to become champion of the Sinnoh league. However he also wishes to see as much of the region as possible from the deepest part of the underground tunnels to the highest peak of Mt. Coronet.

History: Luke grew up on his family's ranch east of Fuchsia City. He had always been interested in pokémon battles and traveling but never had time to pursue his dreams due to being busy working on the ranch. After spending a few days in Sinnoh helping some relatives on their own farm near Solaceon, Luke decided he wanted to see more of the Sinnoh region and moved in with his relatives after his parents hired a replacement farmhand in Fuschia. Once his family in Solaceon was able to afford to pay more workers, Luke took this opportunity to move one more time to Sandgem where he enrolled himself into the academy in hopes of being able to take on the League and become Champion.

BETTY DELACROIX CROSS

17 - Female
Hometown: Icirrus City, Unova

Physical Appearance

Betty stands at five feet and two inches with a weight of 120 pounds. She carries a slender body caked in a tawny beige coloring and a head full of lengthy, light chocolate brown hair with matching pastel brown eyes. Cheeks are always flushed, long eyelashes inherited from her mother, and never partakes in make up (with rare exceptions of course).

Her wardrobe consists of shorts varying from beige to black, leggings of many patterns, designed shirts, slide-in-shoes and small boots, and a plethora of beanies. The storage of choice for her Pokémon necessities is a pikachu-themed mini backpack.

Personality

A sweet, yet selfish, thing she is. Unfortunately her gullibility leaves her susceptible to not only misunderstandings, but harm and manipulation.

Betty can be a young responsible woman with her work, but reliability may be an issue within her personal life. She may lose contact, plagued with forgetfulness that can lead to last minute changes, and more than often may say what others want to hear instead of what she feels. In addition, her fear of conflict leads to her running away from dilemmas that she could have avoided by practicing better communication.

Friendship is not difficult to attain with Betty. Not only is she talkative, but delivers herself as an open book; no topic is too personal or too weird (with some exceptions, mind you). Of course it takes time for one to get to know her, like in any friendship or relationship, like layers that unravel in a jawbreaker. Having said that, she is easily content and easy to amuse. One can add that Betty is clumsy, slow to react, and at times oblivious. Her patience adds to her charm, allowing her to withstand what some may be unable to tolerate.

Betty may be healthy mentally, but physically she is not. Habits have consequences, a questionable diet and lack of exercise being some, and they have led to her being prone to dizzy spells. While she has a way to prevent fainting, there have been instances where she was too careless.

Interests vary with Betty. These may include writing, sketching, singing in the shower, or baking. Betty is also booksmart, but it stops there. Applying what she learned to heart can be a daunting challenge. Thus she is happy with simply absorbing information like an encyclopedia, reading, and researching when tedious.

Aspirations

Betty strives to experience the journey of a Pokemon trainer, but not to master it as her parents wish her to accomplish. While she's going through with the journey for her family's recognition and pride, her real goal is the pursuit of knowledge - exploring uncharted areas, accumulating an understanding of the different Pokémon species, reading text, acquiring new skills, etc. Going on this journey will allow Betty to dedicate herself to her true goal without restrictions.

History

Betty was born in Icirrus City as the oldest of the family of seven. From a young age she was educated and disciplined to succeed; Mediocre grades and results were out of the question. She also became a role model for her siblings, therefor pushing her to gain a fear in failure.

With each birth the newest sibling gained more attention than the last, urging Betty to achieve bigger successes to gain their recognition. This molded her to never settle for less, but it was taking its toll on Betty. There was no time for friends in school, hobbies were done in secret, and her insecurity was increasing.

Regardless the teen didn't seem to have much difficulty navigating through life despite her lack of a social life. Yes she was social, but she never made time for more than chit chat during youth. Education had filled her hours. Unfortunately her parents only demanded better results out of the girl, suffocating Betty. There was no time for her hobbies, dreams, and even then they were shunned upon were they deemed "damaging for the future."

It wasn't until the family migrated to Sandgem Town during her early teen years that partaking in a Pokémon trainer's journey became a dream; an escapade from her previously restrictive home. Overtime she became more laidback, less focused on studies, and began to fantasize about her independence.

Graduation was just the first step.

Physical Appearance: Robin has short, spiky, jet black hair. Robin is around 5'5", and weighs around 110 lbs. His usual outfit consists of cargo shorts, dark T-shirt, and a long-sleeve hoodless jacket.
Personality: Robin is fairly outgoing and is always willing to battle if it means getting stronger and getting to know his Pokemon better. He can get kind of hot-headed sometimes.
Aspirations: Robin wants to become a Fighting type specialist, going against his family's history of Dragon type specialists.
History: Robin grew up on Four Island in the Sevii Islands. He had lived with his family of Dragon type trainers, and he had chosen a Jangmo-o to be his Pokemon when it was only an egg. He had grown up with the little Pokemon and when he was 12, he decided to become a full-fledged Pokemon trainer, so he went to the Pokemon Academy for three years before coming to the Sinnoh region to fulfill his dreams.

Sage Viorel / Male / 17 Years Old /Jufilife City, Sinnoh

Physical Appearance: Standing at 5'9, Sage is a decent height for a male his age. Living in the fast paced city of Jubilife, Sage is frequently on the move, and rarely takes the time to sit down and have a meal, thus he is rather skinny. His hair, which stops right above his shoulders, is dyed black (his natural hair color is a mystery to those outside his family, as he has been dying it for many years). His eyes are naturally a light pink color, though they are frequently changing, due to a much needed contact case (the boy is as blind as a Zubat). Sage tends to wear an assortment of black and white clothes.

Personality -

Strengths:
Intelligent: Sage is gifted in the intellectual arena—at least when it comes to book smarts, sciences and technology (his people skills are a bit lacking).

Kind Hearted: Sage cannot walk away from a person or Pokémon that is suffering, or distressed in any way…despite his own social uncertainties. This can, however, quickly become a not-so-positive trait, as the more a situation escalates, the more his heart jumps ahead of his brain, and (despite his more rational self) will put himself in danger for the wellbeing of others involved.

Reasonable: Sage is not the kind to get carried away. He is aware of his limits, and knows when a situation needs to be walked away from--though he is also aware that some situations (or people) are too important to walk away from, even if the situation itself demands it.

Weaknesses:
Little Real World Experience: Sage has never left Castelia city, and until recently has had little desire to. As such, he never cared to know what life is like outside the big city.

What are social skills?: As a child, Sage was frequently on the move. Never having time to become comfortable in a town or city, he became incredibly reclusive, finding the most comfort in his father's machines and technology. He has interacted very seldomly with people, at least face to face, and is a bit sheltered when it comes to behaving in the real world, rather than behind a screen.

Depressive: Sage spends an incredible amount of time in his own head, and a lot of that time is spent analyzing himself. Looking at anypicture for long enough can make it appear ugly, and in that same sense, Sage has a terrible habit of focusing on positive situations (and attributes), to the point where they seem negative.

Aspirations/Goals and Interests: Right now, Sage's only desire is to see more of the world, overcome his lack of people skills, and train Pokémon in the process. A small part of him hopes to encounter the black and white dragons of Unovan legend, though that part is quickly silenced by the overpowering logic that reminds him how unlikely such a thing is. In his spare time, you will likely see Sage reading a book, or taking apart his technological devices in order to see how they work (and possibly improve them).

History: Originally from Unova, the son of a businessman and inventor, Sage grew up never staying in one place for too long. This caused him to develop some habits and personality traits that were viewed by many as unhealthy. Six years ago, Sage's father realized what the constant moving was doing to his son, and thus sent the boy to live with an old friend, who could promise his son more of a home than his business would allow him to. That was when Sage moved to Jubilife City, to live with Xander and Angelina Redford, and their triplet sons. While this helped a little, Sage's dependency on technology and reluctance to interact with the outside world was a habit difficult to break. Aside from walking through the city, taking photographs and learning about the newest tech, Sage continued to cling to the safe haven of the inside world. It was Angelina who suggested a Pokemon journey would be the best way for Sage to grow, though she doubted he would make it very far simply being handed a Pokemon and thrust out into the world, thus she came up with the idea of the academy, to which Sage agreed to try.

I don't remember my father's death, but I suppose it could be considered one. Moving- even between regions- has become rather dull by now, so not any of those. Being in the front row when Wallace challenged Johanna for the Ribbon Cup was definitely the high point of my entire life.

What do you hope to achieve as a trainer?
I am going to be a master class coordinator. I've been watching live and televised contests for as long as I can remember, even in regions where they aren't considered "popular".

Tobu is around 5'1", meaning she is quite short. She usually wears puffy dresses and long sleeves to hide her actual body just so people don't ask her why it looks like she hasn't eaten in weeks. She has long lavender hair that reaches to her knees, her eyes colored a midnight blue. She usually wears a navy blue dress with long white sleeves, black and white leggings and black boots.

Personality: She is very kind to every living being around her so no one could think less of her. She's even nice to those that cause her a bit of trouble, making her easily manipulable and open to any form of danger. She makes sure to handle any object and precious valuable given to her with care. Trying to anger her could only ever be described as a challenge. She becomes enraged if any of her loved ones are bullied and hates hearing one or both of her parents coming home from being yelled at by their boss for not doing their job right, thinking their boss is overreacting. She also hates seeing trainers yell at their Pokemon, just because they aren't strong enough or don't dodge an attack they weren't expecting and will always blames the trainers for losing the battle just because of that kind of attitude. She seems naive and can get into trouble quite easily. Her kind attitude can also be somewhat annoying. She would scold others non-stop until they outright admit that they did something horribly wrong, which makes her hard to hang around with. As a result, she has no-one to classify as a friend and has started to sometimes lean against and stare at a wall while at home. This behavior concerns her parents, as they've been trying to fix her mental state the best way they possibly can. She apparently talks to her old dusty dolls, believing that they're actually alive. This isn't really that concerning to her parents, but it seems strange nonetheless, especially for someone her age.

Aspirations: Tobu has always wanted to become a Pokemon Coordinator, after watching others try to show a Pokemon's potential through stage performances. The many performances on TV were her only form of entertainment, besides a few educational shows about Pokemon. she found the combinations of moves to make pretty performances amazing and was interested in raising at least one of the many cool, pretty or cute Pokémon participating, hoping to form a bond as strong as the ones the many participants had with their Pokémon. She would even pretend to be a coordinator during her free time, while always dreaming of holding one of those pretty ribbons given to the winners.

History: Tobu was raised to have perfect manners so she wouldn't be picky about food or presents, which was great for her parents. Her parents would work day and night to provide for their daughter, while also trying to find ways to make time with her, but Tobu doesn't care as even a single minute with her parents would make her happy. She could be given a pair of socks as a birthday present and she'd have the biggest smile. Someone could scream with pure rage at her and she would still keep her calm and kind demeanor. Her parents found this troubling as they thought that this kind of lifestyle was bad for her and saw the opportunity to send her to the Pokémon Academy in Sinnoh's Sandgem Town as a way to change that. All they needed was Tobu's approval. After they told her of their plan to send her to the academy, Tobu immediately accepted, as she thought this would be her chance to finally live her dream of becoming a Pokémon Coordinator.

Name: Josef Teever

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Hometown: Celadon City, Kanto

Appearance: Josef is unremarkable and frankly rather plain looking. His outfit has gone through a number of alterations and surprisingly dramatic changes over time (his wardrobe grows larger almost every day, accumulating clothes meant for both men and women), however it always returns to a more casual look of baggy black cargo pants, a plain grey t-shirt tucked into his pants and held tight with a plain black belt. A necklace hangs around his neck with a broken pokeball attached to it, and his wrist are adorned with three stretchable rubber bands that have the symbols for Dark types, Dragon types and Water types on them. The only things which really sets the boy apart are the black ponytail that his hair is tied into on the back of his head, and his height, which reaches an astonishing 6'8". Josef covers up dark, baggy circles under his eyes with an even darker tinted pair of prescription sunglasses which he hardly ever pulls away from his bright blue eyes. The boy's olive colored skin is riddled with stretch marks around his arms, legs and chest due to having gained a lot of weight before moving to Sinnoh. However, after arriving in the new region he quickly burned off the excess weight when he learned that he'd be attending a school for Pokemon trainers. His weight still fluctuates at times, but will usually idle around the 225 pound mark, where he appears to have a more finely toned musculature than most.

Personality: It wouldn't be right to say that Josef is a coward, however he is quite fearful of an ever-growing number of things. Most others hardly notice the sweating of his palms when he begins to confront these fears though due to his way of approaching each. The boy attacks every obstacle head on with an impressively dumb and unrelenting ferocity which has caused a number of other students to play him up into someone with far more potential and ability than he actually has. More often than not, if you were to find Josef tackling a tough or troubling issue, it'd be because his mind was so gripped by fear that the only thing he could think to do was move forward lest he fail and be made fun of. Because of this, Josef's list of fears is always growing and diminishing at the same time due to him constantly overcoming obstacles and facing new ones all without putting any thought into them. He does have a couple of fears however which are far greater in intensity than any others. This list includes an almost paralyzing strong fear of heights, the fear of being judged, and the greatest of his fears, failure.

The fear of failure in general is his greatest weakness while also being his greatest strength. Due to its intensity in combination with the fear of being judged, Josef will take on any task regardless of its difficulty or how familiar he is with what it entails and will tackle it with an overwhelming amount of energy and will continue to take it on until its completion, regardless of how long it takes. This however often leads to him missing out on doing other activities that would be more beneficial to him, since he ends up devoting so much of his time and energy to sometimes menial things that he simply cannot seem to understand but refuses to give up on.

One of Josef's only hobbies is cooking. the boy has been practicing ever since he was young and living in Kanto. His parents' and their Pokemon often times served as test subjects for new dishes he'd concocted and it was for that reason that they actually moved to the Sinnoh region. The boy tends to dabble in numerous other hobbies and has a number of other interests, however he will hardly ever pursue them. His greatest love besides cooking, would definitely be clothes. Teetering more on the side of a hoarder, Josef has an entire room at his parents' house filled with clothes, most of which are brand new as he only ever wears the same one outfit. He'll often dress up a mannequin that's in the corner of his room with the clothes that his parents buy for him, but unless he loves what he sees he'll never actually wear them himself.

History: Josef lived in Celadon City until he was twelve years old, at which time his parents decided it was best if they moved to a region that was more known for their food than Kanto. However, not being able to afford life in Kalos or Unova, the family decided to settle in Sinnoh where poffins were all the rage and rarer ingredients were more common. The Teevers chose to enroll their son in the academy in Sandgem Town in hopes that he could learn to take care of himself and possibly make some friends that he could eventually journey out into the region and possibly the whole world with. The boy became obsessed with fashion shows while in the region, alongside their food and began to study both in his free time. After a while, his parents got tired of seeing their beloved Pokemon covered in makeup and clothes clearly not meant for their bodies. Mr. and Mrs. Teever then invested in a mannequin for Josef to play around with, which saw to an even greater hole forming in their pocket as they started to buy hundreds of different outfits every month to please their son and keep him from redecorating the Pokemon once more.

Aspirations: Josef isn't quite sure exactly what he'd like to do with his life quite yet. Having just graduated from the academy, he's sure that he should go off on a journey and make use of that training, but what comes after that is anyone's guess. Part of him hopes that he'll find new and amazing foods and cuisines while he's traveling, and another part hopes that he'll simply find the strength to overcome his own fears and limitations. His ideal lifestyle changes constantly, and oftentimes ends with him just wanting to give up and settle down in a cave somewhere so that he doesn't have to make any big or meaningful decisions.

Appearance

René is short for a Kalosian, at only 5'5", but makes up for it by making a presence. His blond hair is usually unruly, and thus kept under a cap almost always. His thick glasses are largely for looks, since his vision isn't too bad without them. He wears plain clothes, mostly just tee-shirts and plain pants that actually cost more than others would expect them too. Where he actually flaunts some of his money is with his watch, a gift from his father when they moved to Sandgem.

History

René's mother is a successful businesswoman and his father found minor success as a battler. The two were considered an odd couple by their friends, with his mother's ambition and his father's devil-may-care attitude, but the two seemed to make it work. Things remained somewhat steady through René's birth and his early childhood, but cracks started to appear over the years. Mathis Marion was the primary caretaker for René, with his loose schedule, but Rosine continued to favor her career above all. There were many nights where René could hear the two argue over his mother's rapidly disappearing presence from her son's life. More and more issues that could be ignored when Mathis had no responsibility became serious, and the two had a bitter divorce.

It was during the divorce that René began to despise his mother, and when his father mentioned moving away he jumped at the chance. The two had a good amount of money saved from Mathis' battling days and the settlement going in his favor, so they planned to leave the city and Kalos altogether. René ended the loose friendships he made over the years, packed his bags, and left for Sandgem Town.

Aspirations

René wants to be a master class battler and Champion. Proving his worth in direct competition is the ultimate and indisputable form of success. Enrolling in the academy was the first step to reaching this goal.

Personality

René, to put it simply, is blunt and rude quite often. He is a big city boy through and through, and lives at a big city pace. When you live around an uncountable amount of people with their own busy lives, you start to disregard the pleasantries to get on with your own. As such, he often comes across as high strung and short tempered when he feels someone is wasting his time.

As befitting his attitude, he is ambitious and willing to put that ambition to good use to become someone everyone can agree is successful. He's seen firsthand what perceived power and success bring, and wants that for himself. He's willing to significant sacrifices along the way.

Despite that, he does have some lines he wouldn't cross, aside from the legal ones. He may value his time but those who step on others to get what they want are despicable in his eyes. He holds family above all in this sense, and those who abandon them in the pursuit of success are the worst of all.

I know what you may be thinking; why do I go out of my way to hide my real name and personality, just to work in a place like this? This is a hellhole, I must admit. But still... all the insults, the beatings, the dishonor... I will bear all of it, until I realize my real goal.

A Tale of Revenge

Before I attended the academy, I was living with my mother and father. We weren't exactly living in a high point in society, but, I was happy. As a child, I always loved Pokemon, so I often begged my parents to find some new ones nearby the routes sometimes. Mother and Father has a small business - a flower shop, where they made modest incomes. However, everything had a price. My parents... their shop was mostly funded by a mafia. They were relentless; they demanded my mother and father to pay their dues, which left them with nothing for themselves. However, the debt only grew... until that faithful day that I'll never forget.

I was still young back then, but I can still remember to this day. They burnt my parent's shop. But as if that wasn't enough they... they took my mother and father from me... I remember the face of the man in charge of that chaos. That man, he took my parents from me! I'll never forgive him!! I work in this cafe in hopes to meet eyes with that monster again. When I gotten older, I entered the academy to learn about pokemon to become a trainer for one reason: to be strong enough. I will avenge my mother and father and bring their killer to justice.

Even if its the last thing I ever do. Luckily, I have the perfect partner.
