    We pick, you choose. Participate in polls every month to decide the best hack of that month!

    Introduction

    This is a monthly ROM Hack contest to promote our community's progressing hacks. ROM Hacking moderators will pick three hacks each month, and you members will have until the next month to vote for your Hack of the Month. The winner hack's thread will be stickied for a month, until the next month's winner is announced. Only hacks in the Progressing Hacks forum are eligible for nomination. You may suggest hacks you'd like to see in the following month's contest in this thread.

    I've got to say, it was a close one for me. After routing around, and eventually watching a few video clips from each, I voted for Meowth's Zelda project. Mainly for the incredible sprite work he has done, as well as the fact it sticks out as an original piece.

    Danny's Prototype actually really captivated me, the music shown in his trailer video is really nice and somewhat nostalgic. It's not just a straight forward FR hack - using Gen1 tiles really lets your hack stand out. Wow sorry must have totally misread something XD. His implementation of his own ideas and really playing around seems to be working really well too, some creative new items popping up through the thread. In fact, if it had updated more recently, I may well have backed this hack.

    G0LD, your demake is gorgeous. The styling and tiles are 90% spot on, and the rest might just be me being picky.

    Keep up the good work, guys (girls? idk)!

    Prototype is a Gen 1 hack, not a FR hack, just so you're aware! I'm definitely voting for Echoes of Time, though. It's just too unique to not vote for it.

    Magic, I think you are mistaken. Pokemon prototype is not a hack of FR with Gen 1 tiles, it is a hack of Pokemon Red itself (the Gen 1 game)

    It's too bad Danny has to go up against Meowths game. Hacking Red is no easy thing, even the little changes take hours of work, especially if it is something that has never been documented before.

    Meowths hack is great and has a lot of potential, but as of now he has mostly only displayed new tiles/sprites and map layouts. Which obviously take a lot of work, but is not as impressive as adding in new scripts (in my opinion)

    G0lds hack is probably around the same level of modifications as Meowths, though the graphics do look better (though not due to a skill difference, but to a style difference)


    I vote for Danny's hack due to the total amount of work that has been put into it so far, but these are all going to be excellent.
     
    Embarrassing :P I see Red, I add Fire subconsciously, apparently! All that makes Danny's work even more impressive, mind :).

    I loved playing it, so I'd love to play it as a GBA
    And i really think that ~GOLD! did an awesome work on it and I think it deserves to be HoTM
     
    Nice Lineup This Month!

    This is a Nice Lineup Of Pokémon ROM Hacks This Month. I Voted For Black n White Which I Will DEFINITELY Play After Shiny Gold, But I Might Go For Zelda Echos Of Time Too. They are Both For the GBA, Which Is My Platform. Pokémon Prototype is Nice Too. I'm loving This Month's hacks. thanks To ~GOLD!(BlacknWhite), Meoth(Zelda Echoes), & Danny-E 33(Pokémon prototype) For this Month's Lineup!

    For the nostalgia factor, I vote for Prototype, because I was a GBC hacker, and I know the dificulty of hacking these versions, and I wait more from Danny-E

    The Zelda hack looks good, is hard make a Zelda game in FR, but I only see a very bunch of changes in the graphics.

    Yeah. Kinda Why I went to the GBA. There is Darg & drop Tools Like Advance Map & Oveworld Editor RE That make GBA Hacking easy.

    My vote's gotta go to Echoes of Time. Its unique seeing a Zelda game being made from a Pokemon game. That's creative thinking right there.

    This is the reason why I don't agree with these contests... You guys need to do more research into these hacks. It's not just about the graphics that make a game. That's like saying you'd prefer a book over another one because of the artwork on the cover. You always look at the back of the book for a summary of the book before you read it right? How about you guys do the same. It's not just about the tiles that are being used from public tilesets... When you look at it, Zelda hack tiles and sprites made by him and he's doing something of originality. I personally think he might not win just simply because this is the pokecommunity and not the zeldacommunity and people get too happy over demakes for whatever reason, but good look to Zelda. Original idea, great artwork, and of course the story is looking good.

    I Agree, But You have to Respect echoes of Time's Originality--Zelda on Pokemon? Who wouldhave thought?

    Just seeing this now. And yeah, so far my hack is mainly graphics and mapping and music and pokemon cries, but that's because I want to complete enough of the game to force myself to learn scripting when the time comes. All great games though, definitely :)
     
    While usually I'd pick Zelda related things, or Retro Styled Things.
    I Picked the Demake.

    The tiles look so good ~
