Guess what time it is?? :D

...Well, okay, it's pretty obvious, but yes, it's ~Forum Frontier~ time again!

For those who don't know how this works, or who need a refresher, the rules go as such: this is where the community gets to decide on what new forum they think PC should have for the next three months. This forum can be about anything from Food to Pokemon Shipping to Cartography to Calligraphy. If it doesn't have an explicit forum on PC (don't suggest a Welcome forum, for example) it's fair game. Even if there are technically other places on PC to discuss something (you can talk about food in Treehouse), if you think it would work well as its own forum then post it.

So right now, what we're looking for in this thread are forum nominations! And if you have one, please include info such as:

    • What type of forum are you nominating? (Pets, Shipping, etc.)
    • Include details on the type of threads and content you can picture in this area:
    • If you could choose the forum's name, what would you call it?

In about a week, after discussions have happened and everyone has had a chance to discuss all the various choices and nominations, we will put together a poll in this same thread for members to vote on.
*Disclaimer: We may exclude options that are not appropriate, break rules, too similar to a current forum in general, etc.

    :] Have at it!

Asian Culture. The reason is because I notice there's quite a few people, like myself, who are into Japanese culture and other stuff. The types of threads could include anything from Korean culture to Japanese culture as well. I'm not very good at names though. :c

I think that a worldbuilding forum could be fun.

I imagine this would function similarly to WoPC but with a broader scope. People could develop worlds of a Pokemon variety or things related to other things like planets, fantasy realms or whatnot. People could develop lore etc for these worlds which could also serve as resources for hackers/game makers, RPers, writers, artists, mafia players etc.

I'd make it less of an interactive thing than WoPC was though I think. That bridged a little too much on RPing after a while.

If you could choose the forum's name, what would you call it?
    I've got nothin'

    Blog forum :D

    • Include details on the type of threads and content you can picture in this area:
Threads would be blogs. You'd make the opening post your presentation and include a list of entries; we would make sure to have a stickied thread with sweet templates you could use to help organize your blog header post and your entries. You could make entries whenever you'd want, and people may comment in your thread directly with posts.

We'd sticky one thread every week or so as a featured blog for fun and attention, maybe (: We could also have the splash showcase a list of recent entries and a featured blog entry from the actual blog system on PC - basically mirroring the blog plaza! So we'd shine light on the actual blog system but also provide a platform for discussing blogging as a phenomena, and PC's blog feature itself, at the same time as we provide an alternative for those who think threads are easier or more fun to deal with than the blog system. You could also of course have shared blogs, as you wouldn't need to share an account in order to post entries in the same thread.

Contests could be presenting a certain topic and have people voting on (or judges choosing) the best entry there somehow. Rewarding originality and creativity and ballsyness (8 Perhaps also a recurring PC Choice Awards thing but for blogs?

    • If you could choose the forum's name, what would you call it?
Seeing as it would likely end up sitting in the off-topic discussions area, it could have a name like The Blogisphere. If it was up at Community Square (meet members is in its description) maybe another name would be better haha.

What type of forum are you nominating?: Fictional Media (Superheros).
Include details on the type of threads and content you can picture in this area: A place where you talk about superheroes and supervillians. Maybe once every two weeks, members can hold a create your own superhero/supervillain contest.
If you could choose the forum's name, what would you call it?: The Bat Cave.

resubmitting this from the last thread as there is nothing i'd change and it is a perfectly good idea - the actual forum name can be put up for debate, but i digress. it is a fun forum with no pretense of anything remotely serious or with intent to last, which i think is a direly needed change from the effort spent in trying to justify how this Super Cool Section could possibly be permanently wrangled into the forum lineup once the three months are done! plus i really would just love a place to shit on jared leto in every thread. which i consider extremely important.

god forbid something intentionally gimmicky coming out of this thread instead of something which fails to thrive after 48 hours

If you want a forum that gets visits on a consistent basis, just give us a porn forum.

Considering how many people visit pc, going for a language forum could be interesting. Imagine threads where people speak in their own language, threads maintained by people who speak a certain language that can be used by people who want to learn more about it, threads that deal with creating new languages, heck, we could even throw in some programming and machine languages if we wanted to.

Dunno about the name, though. Was thinking something like "Tower of Babylon", but that might trigger some people because religious reference.

What type of forum are you nominating?: Pokemon (Manga & Literature).
Include details on the type of threads and content you can picture in this area: We used to have a Pokemon Manga forum, but it was dissolved, I feel like since all forms of Pokemon things should get a section to shine, this wouldn't be a very bad idea to try out. There's upcoming Sun/Moon Pokemon manga and more than just Pokemon Special people can talk about, and I'd like that. Perhaps reading discussions could be made each month, you know, plot discussions. A master thread in Pokemon General is nice, but, come on, Pokemon Manga needs some light again. Oh, and the novels and picture books, too, because why the heck not?
If you could choose the forum's name, what would you call it?: Pokemon Manga & Literature.

A permanent 'Get Together'. Seriously. It would be cool to have a place strictly dedicated to do stuff with people and not only twice per years. With the addition of the Discord server, this has become a feasible option. The scheduled GTs could just emphasize this part of the forum. I could think of other things to suggest but we're already getting very specific with the new forums haha.

I think this would be a beautiful idea.

Bit confused on this one! Pretty much all GT events can/are housed as contests in their home forums and through PokeTrivia/Playground. The only thing that springs to mind is movie-watching, but again that's easily accomodated in GE if anyone actually wanted to run one :c. GTs struggle to stay relevent and fun for two weeks, so a threemonth long get together may well kill the tradition all together.

Not to mention how much effort goes in to a normal, short GT with organisers and runners and the occasional admin hijinks (the Olympics last year)...

+1 Yes pleeease. I literally came here to suggest something like this, but I also didn't know what to call it. :P

Inspired by Dragon's idea, a while ago he was talking about making a Harry Potter Houses kind of thing, where people could plan mini-events and compete against each other for House points, sort of like an RP but not really - I don't really know how to explain it but I think the concept is really cool and could extend to a lot of other fandoms/themes as well. Game of Thrones comes to mind, for another. And Pokémon, of course.

It's kind of like clubs, kind of like RP, worldbuilding - hard to explain in a word but I can totally visualize it being a thing, and would love to get the chance to see it in action.

I'll throw my previous suggestion back up for the wolves here...

What type of forum are you nominating? Sports

Include details on the type of threads and content you can picture in this area: I "run" the sports section on another gaming website I frequent, and I post sports threads there, with vibrant opening posts, with details about the upcoming season, etc. Separate threads get made for the offseason and playoffs. Could also do separate threads for the ultimate games, if necessary.

If you could choose the forum's name, what would you call it? The Locker Room
