Congratulations! You have successfully passed the entrance exam into the Overlord Academy where you will undergo training to serve as a unit in His army, eventually joining the ranks of the Elite. Which class will you join and which career path will you take?
Scout
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035016/valkyria/images/9/9a/Scout-insignia.png)
Overview
Equipped with a standard calibre rifle, they are lightly armoured and able to cover the most ground out of all classes. Useful for field reconnaissance and highly accurate, Scouts are useful in a wide variety of tasks on the field and great for swiftly taking exposed bases. Their shortcomings however are in fire-power and defence, having little chance against the heavily armed and armoured Shock Trooper or Gunner in direct combat.
Progression
As you gain experience as a Scout you will have the choice to progress to an Elite Scout or to a Heavy Scout. An Elite Scout has the best mobility out of all units. A Heavy Scout retains the same movement as a regular Scout but has an improved rifle mounted grenade launcher as well as improved defence due to the heavier clothing they wear. The grenade launcher allows them to bombard enemies from long range and the improved rifle lets them take on Shock Troopers and Gunners with greater ease. If you're the type of person who likes to traverse across the battlefield but not necessarily engage in direct combat, then the Scout class is for you.

Sniper
Spoiler:

Overview
Snipers can take out targets from long distances. Their rifles are equipped with scopes for precision sniping but they have limited ammunition and need to be resupplied if they run out. Their low defence and mobility make them ill-suited for direct fire fights or even escaping. Snipers are unable to perform interception fire, counter-attacks or support fire. If you're the type of person who likes to attack without being attacked then this is the class for you.
Progression
Experienced snipers have two rifle upgrades available to them. AT (Anti-Tank) Snipers have rifles loaded with armour piercing rounds allowing them to take on armoured units as well as infantry. Elite Snipers instead have an auto sniper rifle which ensures they take out any exposed infantry with one press of the trigger. In either case, general abilities exceed that of regular snipers.

Shock Trooper
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822064359/valkyria/images/2/2b/Shocktrooper-insignia.png)
Overview
Shock troopers are front-line soldiers that can take on the enemy face to face. They have average mobility, but the sub-machine guns they wield boast excellent fire-power. Their range and accuracy are limited, so they need to approach through oncoming fire to get close to the enemy which explains the heavy armour they wear. Their interception fire is also deadly, so they excel at camp defence. Soldiers who excel in close range combat and handling a variety of weapons, they are called in whenever more attackers are needed to secure sites across the field. Shock troopers are balanced in terms of offense and defence but due to their heavier equipment can take a while to traverse on foot. If versatility is your preference, look no further.
Progression
As you get to grips as a front line soldier, you'll have the opportunity to become an Elite Trooper or to become a Commando. Elite Troopers carry an additional two grenades (three altogether) and boast improved all round combat ability. Commandos while not as physically capable as Elite Troopers stand out due to the flame-throwers they carry instead of grenades. The flame-thrower is excellent at frying crouching or concealed infantry units as well as burning down enemy infrastructures such as turrets and cannon towers. If you like to be on the front lines as a versatile unit then the Shock Trooper class is for you.

Gunner
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035015/valkyria/images/b/b6/Gunner-insignia.png)
Overview
Similar to Shock Troopers but carry a Gatling machine gun with extra rounds. This makes them more suited for defending allied camps though they can certainly be utilized on the front lines too.
Progression
With enough experience you will have the choice to trade in your Gatling machine gun for either a light machine gun or a heavy machine gun. Gunner Elites carry light machine guns which have larger magazines than their heavy counterpart. Due to the decrease in weapon weight, Gunner Elites also have greater mobility, making them more balanced at defending camps or front line combat. The heavy machine gun carried by Heavy Gunners on the other hand packs serious fire power. This however reduces overall mobility making Heavy Gunners suited for defence. In either case, physical abilities exceed that of standard Gunners, while Gunner Elites have increased mobility and Heavy Gunners have increased defence. If you like the idea of serious fire power and generally prefer to fight defensively than offensively, then the Gunner class is for you.

Lancer
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035015/valkyria/images/4/45/Lancer-insignia.png)
Overview
Lancers are primarily an anti-armour soldier class. Their anti-tank lances can inflict heavy damage to tanks and other armoured units. Their ammunition is limited, however, so they need to be resupplied if they run out. Their amour is designed to withstand explosive attacks, with defences that can stand up to tank fire but because of this, they are weak against infantry and they have low mobility too. Lancers are unable to perform interception fire, counter-attacks or support fire although if their attacks connect with enemy infantry, that infantry will not be able to perform a counter attack.
Progression
Once you have gained enough skill at blasting holes in enemy tanks, you'll have the option to upgrade your lance. Lancer Elites wield heavy lances which inflict tremendous damage against armoured targets (and infantry too) but due to the increase in weight, mobility is reduced. If you choose not to upgrade, then you will be provided with training to improve your mobility and become a Mobility Lancer, retaining the same attack power as a regular Lancer but with greatly improved movement. In either case, physical abilities exceed that of regular Lancers, while Lancer Elites boast improved defence + fire-power and Mobility Lancers have improved movement. If you're the type of person who wants to specialize in anti-armour assaults then the Lancer class for you.

Mortarer
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035016/valkyria/images/5/5c/Mortarer-insignia.png)
Overview
Similar to Lancers but carry a Mortar Lance which excels against infantry rather than armoured units. What makes this class particularly interesting is that they still wear armour suited to defend against tanks even though their weapon is designed to take on infantry.
Progression
Once you have gained enough skill in blowing enemy infantry to smithereens, you'll have the option to upgrade your mortar lance. Mortarer Elites wield heavy mortar lances which inflict tremendous damage against infantry with a significant blast radius increase but due to the heavy weight, mobility is reduced. If you choose not to upgrade, then you will be provided with training to improve your mobility and become a Mobility Mortarer, retaining the same attack power as a regular Mortarer but with greatly improved movement. In either case, physical abilities exceed that of regular Mortarers, while Mortarer Elites boast improved defence + fire-power and Mobility Mortarers have improved movement. If you like the idea of taking on large numbers of infantry from a distance rather than engaging them head on, then the Mortarer class is for you.

Engineer
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035015/valkyria/images/9/97/Engineer-insignia.png)
Overview
Engineers specialize in supplying and supporting other troops. They have low attack power and defence, but boast unique abilities such as being able to repair tanks with their spanners and have mobility that almost rivals that of the Scout class. They can also restock ammunition to friendly soldiers and tanks by approaching them. The ragnaid that engineers carry can be used over long distances and replenishes a large amount of HP to allied infantry. Carries a small pistol which allows them to perform interception fire as well as counter attacking and support fire.
Progression
Once you have provided support on enough missions you will have the option to become an Elite Engineer or a Medic. Elite Engineers repair tanks at a much quicker rate as well as boasting improved physical abilities in comparison to regular Engineers and Medics. Medics are much better at healing allied infantry as well as resuscitating fallen allies and are also physically more capable than regular Engineers. If you're not the combative type and would rather provide support then the Engineer class is for you.

Anthem Corp
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035013/valkyria/images/3/39/Anthem-corps-insignia.png)
Overview
Anthem Corps carry a musical instrument which allows them to motivate and inspire allied units and raise overall team morale. Like engineers they also carry a small pistol.
Progression
With enough experience you will have the option to become an Anthem Elite or a Melodist. The former allows you to draw out an even greater amount of potential out of allied units and the latter allows you to decrease enemy morale and lower the abilities of enemy units. In either case, physical abilities are greater than regular Anthem Corps. If you would rather provide support or disrupt enemies then the Anthem Corp class is for you.
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://valkyriachronicles.neoseeker.com/w/i/valkyriachronicles/thumb/3/3b/Anthem_Corps.jpg/300px-Anthem_Corps.jpg)
Armour Tech
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035014/valkyria/images/1/16/Armored-tech-insignia.png)
Overview
Armour Techs aid their fellow troopers by removing land mines and rebuilding sandbags to fortify camps. They are also very powerful, able to take down many personnel in one or two swings with their large wrenches and the enemies cannot perform counter fire. The wrenches can even damage tanks and destroy sandbags - particularly useful if an enemy is crouching behind some. Armour Techs also carry body sized shields which allow them to block gunfire from the front and they wear balanced armour which allows them to defend against both infantry and tank fire. Due to the heavy weight of the shield and armour, mobility is extremely limited. While this class cannot perform interception fire, counter attacks or support fire, they make for excellent base defenders when you would rather focus on pure defence.
Progression
With enough experience you will have the option to become an Elite Tech or a Spec Tech. Elite Techs are able to place land mines on the battle field which are deadly against both infantry and tanks. Spec Techs carry Flash Grenades which prevent enemies caught in the blast from performing interception fire as well as counter attacking and support fire. In either case, physical abilities exceed that of Armour Techs. If you like the idea of a supporting role that also has decent offensive capability then the Armour Tech class is for you.
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://valkyriachronicles.neoseeker.com/w/i/valkyriachronicles/thumb/a/aa/Armored_Soldier.jpg/300px-Armored_Soldier.jpg)
Fencer
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up! [PokeCommunity.com] Soldier Up!](https://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110822035015/valkyria/images/5/5b/Fencer-insignia.png)
Overview
Similar to Armour Techs but carry a double handed European style sword instead of a wrench. Unlike Armour Techs, Fencers forgo support and focus on full blown offense. The sword is deadly against infantry most often felling them in a single blow and if not, the attack will send them flying back, preventing them from counter attacking and forcing them to take a standing position. Again, because of the shield and armour, their mobility is incredibly limited.
Progression
As your fencing skills improve you will have the chance to join the Elite Fencers or you can trade in your blade for a Maul and become a Mauler. Elite Fencers carry a broad sword which has a wider swing and greater damage potential allowing you to fell any soldier unfortunate to get caught in the arc. Physical abilities including mobility are improved in comparison to regular Fencers. Maulers have the power to destroy even tanks and other armoured units in one blow. Physical abilities except mobility is improved in comparison to regular Fencers. If you like the idea of sheer offensive and defensive prowess and don't mind the severely low mobility, then the Fencer class is for you.
