Event Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2017 : Steel (Oct. 22 - 29)

Welcome to the fifth annual installment of the Favorite Pokémon Tournament, hosted here in Pokémon General! The goal of the Favorite Pokémon Tournament (also known as the FPT), is to determine the most popular Pokémon/Pokémon family of the users here at the PokéCommunity. This will be a 10-week set of polls running between now and December, where we'll pit almost all Pokémon of different types from past and present generations against each other to determine a winner. After we know the results of each type, we'll add all of those Pokémon to a final poll, where the winner(s) will be crowned champion, and will go down into the record books as PokéCommunity's favorite Pokémon of 2017!

If you are new to the Favorite Pokémon Tournament, or would just like a refresher on the rules/process of the event, please take a look at the FAQ posted below:​

Spoiler:

• Every week, two new polls will be stickied at the top of Pokémon General. Each thread will include a different elemental type, and the list of Pokémon to vote from.
• You aren't required to pick just one Pokémon- you can vote for as many as you'd like to ensure your favorites get through. The Pokémon with the most votes at the end of the week will earn a spot in our grand finale, where the winners from all other polls will compete to be crowned the champion(s)!
• In order to preserve space, we've grouped all of the applicable evolutions in a Pokémon family together. Some Pokémon (ex.: the Nidoran families, Alolan variants, etc.) may be exempt from this rule.
• While regional variants have been included, please be aware that any Pokémon that changes formes (Mega Evolutions, Pokémon holding items, etc.) will only be included in polls with its original typings.
• In the event of a tie at the end of the week, all Pokémon tied for first place will advance to the finale.
  
• If there are any questions that you need answered, feel free to leave a comment in this thread or send a VM to Вrendino to get it sorted out.
  

NOTE: Due to the number of existing Steel type Pokémon, not all eligible Pokémon are present in the poll (inclusion is based on popularity from previous polls). If you want to vote for an unlisted Steel type, check the "Other Pokémon" option represented by a (?), and leave a post with your vote.

Team Aggron <3 One of my favorite Pokemon ever.

Dialga and Solgaleo are the only steel types who are good.
My opinion obviously.

Not a lot favorites in this type for me, so only voted for the Aggron line and Shieldon, in the "other" category

Steelix
My favorite Steel type is definitely Steelix. Such an amazing Physical tank, it can play a stall or aggressive style. I also really like it because of how monstrously huge it is portrayed as, it just looks as intimidating as it actually is. It also has an amazing Mega evolution that just looks amazing and plays very aggressively. I'm also pretty nostalgic about this pokemon from generation 2 games, Steelix sort of taught me the power of Steel type when it was first introduced. Steelix is just an awesome pokemon.

Mawile
In generation 3 when Mawile was first introduced as a solid Steel type with no other type added to it, I seriously thought it was amazing, and by the time generation 5 was around, it really was an interesting stall pokemon with the benefits of being only Steel type. In generation 6 it suddenly gained the Fairy typing and became this new busted Mega Evolving aggressive monster. I was skeptical of it at first with the new typing, but I ended up enjoying Mawile and it's new type. Built a scary Mawile in Omega Ruby, it was a lot of fun to play.

Jirachi
I just really like Jirachi's design as well as it's scary Serene Grace shenanigans. To be honest, despite that I own one on OR, I've never really played with this Mythical Pokemon. I don't really like playing with Legendary pokemon, but whenever I see people use Jirachi on their team, I always enjoy watching how the pokemon fights. Scary to fight against, but it looks powerful to control.

Klefki
I really like the fact that Klefki just looks like a ring of keys, just like the fact that I really like the designs of Magnemite and Voltorb. Sometimes the simplest design is the best design. Plus you have that scary Prankster stall battle style, that is incredibly scary.

Steelix can't be beaten in terms of looks, IMO. Also voted Bisharp for general awesomeness and Registeel because its Crimson Invasion promo rocks.

Yet another monotype challenge prey. Steel is an epic typing, and honestly the one where there are the fewest I genuinely don't like. That said, here are my picks:

Snowslash Line - Slashy slashy slash slash.

Mawile - Steel/Fairy is an awesome typing (did I make this joke already?). Maw-Maw was my favorite mega in Gen 6 before it was rudely banished to Ubers, and... to be fair it still is.

Empoleon - Icebreaker is currently the star of my Monosteel, and damn do i love this guy. He's a boss penguin. Period.

Bisharp Line - He's going to slice and dice you all the way to next century

Klefki - Steel/Fairy is an awesome... Waaaait a second.

OTHER: Bastiodon Line - My first other of this FPT, Shieldy is just kinda freaking awesome. And she has an amazing Special movepool. Apparently.

Edit: Oh come on guys, we can't let our favorite Time Lord lose to Aggron. And someone please vote for Togedemaru.

This made me realize I have a lot of steel-type favourites actually, but to be fair I singled it down to a top three:
- Magnemite line: since Coil the Magnezone became a great member of my team in Moon, it entered my personal Hall of Fame for amazing party Pokémon
- Solgaleo: the most beautiful lion I have ever seen
- Cobalion (other): by default my favourite because we share our namesake - cobalt

My other favourites (which I did not cross) include: Empoleon, Dialga, and Scizor.
