Chit-Chat: a good ol' fashioned DCC!

guys when I posted that i seriously thought this was the EMOTION thread lmao WOW

but I'm happy to see we have a conversation here! I posted that because at the time I had a good session with my therapist. I meet with her every week and it's like having a supportive BFF because sometimes life can get rough sometimes.

even those who think their emotions are under control could use a little therapy, and that's me once a month

There's no affordable options for therapy here, and the public system just does not exist. It's super frustrating.

My work covers all mental health stuff, so it's really nice, but the need for mental health services here is so great that there's a long wait. It's been something that I've been needing to look at doing, but I've had a lot on my plate this year.

Same! My health insurance from my job covers mental health 100% so I have access to a therapist and/or a psychiatrist with no charge, and I think all employers should do this (my previous jobs don't even cover a single therapy visit).

I hope that everyone in my PC family is safe and well.

I live in North Carolina, so my state was hit hard by Hurricane Helene, along with Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. I wasn't in the area of the state that saw the most devestation, we have debris from fallen trees to keep picking up, but compared to entire communities that have been wiped off the map, we are the lucky ones. Beautiful cities like Asheville that I held good memories of visiting are literally underwater now.

We have already lost hundreds of lives to this hurricane, but it's expected to get even worse since thousands are still missing and trapped in flooded areas and even those who are above water have been going without essentials like clean water and medical supplies for days.

I've heard that the storm hit hard, especially in the Appalachians too. Hopefully the path to recovery is swift and handled in an efficient manner.

I've only seen the devastation from videos but it's really horrendous. There's towns that are completely cut off. I really hope everyone can recover.

Our last big one was Fiona.

I worry also about that Biolab chemical fire in Georgia outside of the Atlanta area happening on top of the hurricane. The photographs I have seen are horrifying- massive fumes blanketing the streets. chlorine gas has been detected in the air and by some reports the toxic haze is going out 80 and 100 miles. Residents say that they're getting sick, and I fear we may have another East Palestine Ohio train derailment unfolding.

That's exactly what I thought! And the government is doing nothing, just like they did then. When will environmental disasters be taken seriously?

Flint still doesn't have clean water.

That sounds awful too. I can't even imagine the stench!
I don't even like the smell of salt water on its own /w\

Here in my neck of the woods I know some people are still struggling to recover from Hurricane Beryl. Grateful that some Houstonians have power, but some areas got hit pretty hard.

I feel for those who are still recovering from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

I've been bringing up tonsil stones all night. It's so annoying! They won't stop. How long does this normally last? I've never had issues with my tonsils before.
