Sceptile hands down. Butterfree is too busy mating to receive my vote. It really wasn't around that long or did that much to beat out Sceptile imo. Yes it was Ash first capture and first pokemon to evolve and first traded but other then that I don't see much else significance to it. Sceptile is probably my favorite starter either that or Charizard. Guy beat a Darkrai end of story.

Sceptile defiantly! I remember when it was a Treekco. It still kicked butt and was one of Ash best Pokemon in the Hoenn series. Butterfree was alright but Sceptile was better.

I chose Sceptile cos it's cooler. I only watched episodes when he was still a Treecko (I enjoyed how he managed to defeat Jessie Seviper in "A Tail With a Twist") but I still loved him.

Sceptile. So much cooler, more powerful, more interesting. Butterfree had that annoying voice and wasn't around for very long, though it was sort of cute as a Caterpie.

In what way is this even fair? They're both completely different, even Sceptile has has had more time with Ash.

Well in any case, It's going to be Sceptile for me again, it's just had more time with Ash, been in some amazing battles, even with Darkrai. Although butterfree was Ash's first capture, I don't think it ever got any development, other than going off with a mate.

Sceptile. Butterfree wasn't around long enough. Maybe the fact that the first full episode I remember watching was when he caught Treecko helps...and that it beat Darkrai. His Leaf Blade animation is awesome...he's an awesome species...sorry Butterfree, Sceptile is the Chuck Norris of the forest.

Butterfree might not have been around long, but as Ash's first catch, he holds a special place in my heart. I have to vote for him, regardless of how cool Sceptile is. Grovile, on the other hand, would have gotten my vote.

Sceptile >>> Butterfree. Sceptile's personality was more developed than Butterfree's and I liked its cool, no-nonsense attitude.
