It is a magical device that helps to cool down the room, but burns your electricity bill.

Do you own one before? Do you use it often? Or you think you can survive the summer without it.

I wouldn't make it through summer without one. I live in a desert properly known as Arizona, and it gets hotter than hell here. So, it's mandatory to actually have one for us. I also have a small one in my room because the vents in my room don't work for some odd reason. When we lived in Maine, we used to put fans in the window to circulate cool air into the house. We had one of those old fashioned air conditioners in the living room that sort of stuck out of the window and what not.

    Lol AC what's that?

I have had air conditioning a few times in my life. Most of my life I just lived with the heat and had fans for really hot days or heat waves. Now though I am not a fan of either and would rather open the window and roast. I think extreme heat feels good. I live in Indiana now and we have central air in the house, but often I will turn it off because my roommates leave it on all the time and I don't like it.

air conditioning is such a foreign thing to me lol
the closest this house has ever had to air conditioning is 'if you're hot then open the fucking window'

I wish we could cool off by opening the window here :( Opening the window in Alabama is like opening a warm oven in the kitchen. I simply can't imagine life without an air conditioner here. The summers reach over 110 degrees(f) and it is just brutal.

Southeast Virginia is ridiculously humid in the summer since we're surrounded by water, plus Virginia is just far enough south that it's hot as hell for most of the summer. All of that makes for sheer misery, especially since I can't stand heat to begin with, and combined with humidity can actually physically make me feel like crap. So I could never survive without AC.

I've been tempted to turn it on the past couple days since it's been really warm, but nights have been cool so I've resisted the urge.

It doesn't get sticky and humid in the summer where I live so there's not much need. Just keep the windows open at night and closed in the day and you'll keep most of the heat out.

I don't think I could live long term in places like the US east coast where you need one of these things.

oh opening a window doesn't do anything in this part of the country unless you fool yourself with the placebo effect lmao

for years we didnt have one and i remember going to bed in sweat and waking up covered in more sweat. now we have central ac, my parents keep it in the 70s so it's just comfortable in the house. when i was younger i hated being hot, but now that i'm older i rather be hot than cold any day. so if the ac ever went i'd live. honestly i find only your car really needs ac, but i also don't live in an extremely hot area

It's not that bad here in the summer.
There's only a few days where it's really warm.

I couldn't fall asleep at night during the Summer if we didn't have AC.

I live in England so have never needed one. On the rare occasion it does get a bit too hot I'll have an iced drink and be good to go.

I have one, it's basically a unit stuck into one of the walls of this apartment, and it goes on every summer. Could probably do without it if I ultimately had to, but...I am weak when it comes to hot weather. :[

Although the downside to this particular unit is the coolness doesn't quite reach the bedroom. I know I have troubles sleeping on some summer nights because of that.

I live in the UK, so I abuse the central heating, not the air conditioner...which we don't have. We have a few noisy small fans, and the house that actually stays relatively cool during the summer provided you don't go outside anyway.

We even have an air conditioner all year round it's that cold. Good old English weather

I only have A/C in my car, and even then it feels like a luxury

I am ok with 90 degree Fahrenheit weather if it is dry. However, living on the East Coast, the humidity is the main reason for A/C. Once I moved more inland (and started paying for my power bill), I realized that I can deal with indoor temperatures of 80 F to save money.

When I flew down to Central America, no one used A/C and it was like stepping into the steam from a hot shower. Absolutely horrible. Everyone just used electric fans.

The Philippines + These months of March, April, and May = You know the hot sun is out there, waiting to fry your testicles like fried sunny side up eggs. And its not a surprise that rotating brownouts are starting in some areas as well, which is kinda scary for those who work at home.

The Air Conditioner is something that is a must have. And dear lord please clean your ACs if you have to. There's nothing more disgusting to me than having a dirty AC X__X
