Alternate Accounts

This is my alternate account. Can't even remember why I registered it nowadays.
 
Here are the reasons I see as to why anyone would want an alternate account:

1. To confuse people. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, depends on if you wanna really confuse them or not.

2. I suppose some staff may use them so they don't have to worry about their positions all the time. I mean, they'll still do their job, but sometimes they may not want to be bugged by n00bs and whatnot all the time. Some users may do this too, I guess, especially if they own something very popular, like a successful hack or graphics shop.

3. Before name changes ceased to exist, they were there as placeholders, so when the time came for your name to be changed, you wouldn't have to worry about your desired name being taken.

4. People have turned alts. into RP accounts. It's kind of like a "Muse" or "Puppet" on LiveJournal--their username usually represents the character, and their posts reflect their character. The only exception is, of course, you don't get 15+ icons to choose from whenever posting, unless you post an image in every one of your posts. But if you don't have 15+ posts that count, then that's impossible to do.

I follow numbers 1 and 3 mostly. Although, with 3, it's because if I like a certain character/series/etc., I'd like to have an account of that, not just because I want a placeholder.
 
I have an alternate account in facebook. Alt accounts are part of my social engineering. I wouldn't have too many alt accounts or else I'd start to forget passwords.
 
I've thought of making an alt, but I've never really got myself to do that. I don't even know why I want to. Hmm..
So, no.
 
I joined here like 5 years ago for unknown reasons, but I forgot my username, so this is an alternate to it. It's probably to make a new start with a new account or have a better name since the name changing feature is disabled.
 
I have one alternate account on this forum and to date nobody has been able to find it.

It's just nice to be able to post anonymously occasionally. There's no real purpose other than to stop stalkers and prevent some people from associating me with the persona I have on this account.
 
This is an alt account. I can't remember why I made it, actually. I liked the name, couldn't name change anymore. Meh.
 
I have two alts although one was made due to us only being able to change our names one more time and I wanted to see how it looked on it's own before changing it. I really can't remember why I made my other alt.

My alts have come in handy though. When I entered the prettiest profile contest I tried out different combinations on my alts until I found one I liked.
 
I have two old accounts, but no alts. I don't see enough of a point in that sort of thing personally, since I have no need to be anonymous nor do droves of people bug me about stuff. I'd rather just have one account to manage anyway.
 
Yes. 75% of this entire message board are my alt accounts, including some members of the staff. I have complex social networks spanning the globe, using various undetected proxy chains and other means of hiding my true identity, all for one purpose: to take over the entire Internet. First Pokecommunity...tomorrow, the entire Internet.

Unusually, I consider this to be my alt account, even if it used to be my main and only account before I mysteriously disappeared five years ago. When I stumbled upon PC again last year, I decided to make my current Timbjerr account just for the fun of it, and then it became my main. XD

As far as what I use this for, mainly OT spamming and VMing random people, including myself. XD

As far as I know, I have two other alts that have less than a hundred posts each. One quite unoriginally named "tmbjr 2" and one troll account I made named "Pochama_Tammy" that never really went anywhere after all. XD
 
Like everyone else who does have an alt. account, I have my own purpose for having 'em. Mainly, it's because I went ahead and made graphics, but I don't want to change when I have on my main. Thus, that is where typically my alts. come in (it's been a problem recently though, as I seem to like all the themes on all my alts.)

Another reason is just to get away from being on my main for a bit. People just need a break sometime, and I'm one of 'em. It's nice just going around and posting, with no regards to much, because everything is over on your main.
 
I had two previous accounts that I registered prior to this one. I stopped using them because of simple reasons - such as not liking the username and the negative history attached to my earliest. In a way, I don't consider any of my old accounts to be alternate accounts since I don't log into them however, I can understand why other members would want one and, since it's not against the rules, there is no reason why other members shouldn't. Although, personally I don't really see any use for them.
 
I have an alternative account, yup. Actually, it's older then this one. XD I barley go on it, though. =/
 
I have a few, just don't bother to use them anymore, they don't mean much to me to be honest.
 
I don't use alts, alts is fer trollin'.........

Although I think the only good use for them is if you are a moderator or admin, as that way people treat you like a regular user so you can have normal conversations. If I was a mod on some site, I would definitely have an alt, just so I wouldn't have to deal with all the bull that comes with being a mod. And I think my alternate account would be something like "SIN1488" ;)
 
Uh, at last count, as in a few days ago... 34 alts. XD;

Why? I...just like posting with different usernames. Though some were for the fun of it. I only use Four to check how members see certain things now. Otherwise I have no need for all my other alts.
