Anime Watchers Club

Oh I think I know what anime you are talking about. I seen a few episodes. It is called Kaleido Star. Is that the one you are talking about?

Yeah that is what I thought. When you mentioned circus, I was thinking that anime has something to do with the circus. XD I wish I got to watch more of the series though, I only watched five episodes.

Lucy: Ah, too bad. There are a couple of scenes like that unfortunately.

Yeah, I haven't been able to watch a series without having to make sure I have homework and studying done first, but I will never give up on anime completely! I am glad you are still around. It has been a while. :D

Why were you not able to finish it? You couldn't find the episodes or you just didn't have time?

Do you think any anime characters are sexy/hot/cute?

If so, who is your #1?
Who doesn't? Mine would have to be Yami Bakura from Yuugiou (who I consider to be sexy/hot). His host, Ryou Bakura falls under the "cute" category, but I think of him as more along the lines as the stronger connotation: "adorable"!

I have many other anime characters that I think are sexy/hot/cute, but I am running short of time, and there really isn't more who are worth mentioning like Yami Bakura and Ryou.

How much anime stuff do you own?
I have a total of 31 different manga series (plus the amount of volumes for each one). More than 10 anime DVDs, which mostly contain movies like Pokemon and InuYasha. I do know I have Card Captor Sakura, Galaxy Angel, Tokyo Underground, Love Hina, Yuugiou, and DN Angel DVDs, but I usually just download different series and if I enjoy them a lot, then I burn them onto a CD.

Most of my anime stuff contains Pokemon toys which include posters, figurines, plushies, calendars, notebooks, pencils, pens, keychains, paper, video games, video game systems, etc. I do have some anime keychains and posters, but that's pretty much it.

Name an anime you dropped and tell why you did not like it:
I decided to drop Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu because even though I was told that it was an insanely funny anime, the type of humor in this anime was just not for me. I did not care for their type of animation, and it was plainly too weird for my taste.

Do you have a fave anime pairing?
Well, I don't have a specific pairing I am completely obsessed with like I used to be, but I will forever support Sakura and Syaoran from Card Captor Sakura/Tsubasa Chronicles. I think they make the best couple ever. <3

Pretty much like the channel where I watched Kaleido Star folded, so I didn't get watch the rest. And plus I didn't have the time. Man, I miss the Anime Network. That was a great channel...

A lot of good shows have disappeared, I have seen a show on there called Yuki.

I've started watching Vampire Knight, one question is it a short anime or long ?

Last edited:
Vampire Knight has 13 eps for season 1 and 13 for season 2.

Yeah so it isn't a very long series. 26 episodes if put them together. And so far I only watched the first season. It was awesome! I think I seen the first episode of the second season.

I am finally caught up with some of my anime. I got to watch some Bleach, Naruto, and Code Geass. I didn't get to before since I been busy.

I saw the first season of Vampire Knight and I easily fell in love with it. I actually got excited when I heard it became an anime because I was reading the manga first. The animation was rather impressive, and I really enjoyed the ending song.

I have yet to see the second season though, but I heard it was good. I am actually waiting until all the episodes are aired, and after I finish Card Captor Sakura or I tend to stop doing my school work and become focused on finishing an anime. :x

Do you tend to like good guys or bad guys?
I think is more of a psychological question rather than just plain personal opinion. Think about it. If a character is really evil to a point where you just hate their guts, then that character was very well developed and same goes for the good guy. But that does not answer the question.

What I am getting at is in order to make a character seem more favorable to the fans is either make them very good looking or give them characteristics that the watchers can relate to. A lot of fans start to waver towards liking the bad guys more because when the anime starts to develop, they start to show the characters' pasts, and then you tend to feel sorry for them, but that is not always true.

As for my opinion in the matter, I think I tend to like mostly the bad guys because I am the type to get annoyed at those who always seem like goodie goodies (no offense to anyone of course!). But then I kind of contradict myself because there are some people that I respect if they are a certain goodie goodie. I guess it just depends on the personality too.

It depends on the individual character and the series, but I lean more towards the good guys. I may like a bad guy if s/he is well developed, cool, or funny (examples: Nephrite (Sailor Moon), Team Rocket (Pokemon), Maya (Ultra Maniac) Pisard (the original PreCure, pity they killed him off in five episodes)

I always go for the good guys. But sometimes the bad guys really do make the anime interesting. If it wasn't for them, maybe the anime will kinda of boring. Maybe...XD But imo, I go for the good guys. But it isn't wrong to cheer on the bad guys either.

Do you refer to Japanese animation as "anime"?
Yes, I do. I do not call them cartoons, but "anime". To me, it is like calling cartoons made by Americans, "anime". It is not technically correct seeing as anime means Japanese animation.

Do you get upset when people call Japanese animation 'cartoons'?
Well, I like to be a smarty pants about it to my dad when we are joking around, but I used to be really uptight about it when I was younger. Now, I do not really care.

Do you commonly use words like 'nani' and 'baka' even though you can't speak Japanese?
Again, I used to be really annoying about using those common otaku words, but not anymore. I actually bothered learning the language from a teacher, and I learned a whole lot more than watching anime alone could teach me. Now, if I see anyone posting those type of words or saying those words, and acting like they know everything, it annoys me, but I ignore them. It's nothing to get into a fight about.

If yes, do you know what 'nani' and 'baka' mean?
The first one means, but is not limited to "what" and the second one means, but is also not limited to "stupid, moron" and deeper meanings depending on how you use it. If you say it to a Japanese person, it can be a lot more offensive than you mean to make it sound so be careful when you are trying to sound like you know everything.

Have you learned all the Japanese you know from watching anime?
No, I know a lot more thankfully from taking classes, and I still have a lot more to learn. I am only up to katakana which I tend to forget some characters or confuse with hiragana. Kanji is a different story. I plan on taking Japanese in college next year to sharpen my skills, and probably learn kanji by my third year just because it is very complicated.

I agree with all the answers you gave Hantsuki! Especially the first question you answered. I do consider anime...well anime. I don't call them cartoons whatsoever.

Do you prefer subs, dubs or both?
I have answered this question so many times before. xD Any way, for the most part, I watched subbed anime because I have the convenience of having a computer and the Internet.

But that does not mean that I completely hate dubbed anime like "true otakus" claim to do. There was actually one channel that I used to have (I think it was The Anime Network) and it showed dubbed anime. I watched DN Angel, Wolf's Rain, Full Metal Panic FUMOFFU, and more on that channel and they were all dub, but I had no problem with the voice actors or the way they dubbed it. The only thing that is awkward is when they put Japanese jokes in an anime, and so it is kind of hard to dub without making it seem like it does make any sense (like the whole confusion about "daisuki and Daisuke" in DN Angel).

I will admit though that probably every anime sounds better in the normal Japanese version because it is kind of like reading a book. If you translate the story from a different language, it may not sound as strong as its original language. I do know that when I start watching the subbed version of an anime, it is hard to watch the dubbed version of it because it does really sound awkward, and in other cases, annoying.

Do you have a subscription to an anime magazine or do you buy issues of one?
Ah, I used to be described to Beckett Pokemon Collector and then it turned into Beckett Yuugiou Collector and then it started advertising more anime, but I stopped that subscription a long time ago. Sometimes if I am shopping, and I see the Shounen or Shoujou Magazine, I may purchase it if I see some interesting new anime or some interesting articles I want to read, but otherwise, I have no subscriptions. Oh noes, I must not be a true fan!

Have you ever answered a question with "hai"?
This really belongs with the previous questions about knowing "nani" and "baka" but I suppose it is because I have similar answers to them. Yes, I have done it before with my friends when I was younger. No, I no longer do that now. I only speak Japanese to my teacher now.

Did you name a pet after an anime character?
I have had my dog since I was in Jr. High I believe, so no, I did not name any pets after an anime character. I did not know too many Japanese names when I was in Jr. High and I was dead set on naming a dog "Angel" because I really like that name, so I stuck with that one. Besides, I cannot really think of any good names I would name my dog, and if I did, I would have to really teach my dad how to pronounce it correctly.

... I'm a big Naruto fan. It's my favorite anime. My favorite characters are: Gaara, Naruto, Shikamaru and Temari. As for villans, I like the Sound 4 a lot.

Oh man, I loved that channel. I had that channel as well. And I got to watch all of the anime you mentioned, Hantsuki. Well I did watch some, and then when The Anime Network folded I didn't get to watch the rest of the episodes of those shows. ;; I was so close! Oh well. Maybe I will catch them on DVD or something.

Yes I love Naruto as well. It is a good series. My favorite characters are Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Rock Lee, and Hinata. Gaara is pretty cool too. But those guys I listed before are my total favorites. Yeah the Sound 4 were brutal. I think Orchimaru wins though. XD

Oh have you joined already Athena56? If you haven't joined, you are joined now. Welcome. XD
