Anyone else annoyed by how whenever a female character gets revealed, people immediately flock to make creepy fanart of them?

I recently found this discussion and I wholeheartedly agree with it. Especially how many of the characters are usually on the young side.

Hell, last year I made this comic in regards to one of my biggest hopes for Legends Z-A:
Spoiler: The comic I made a while back that relates to the topic

To anyone who didn't see my comic, I'm saying that I'm genuinely hoping the Legends Z-A protagonists are literal children who have yet to hit puberty, because that's the best way to prevent at least two new characters for falling prey to _____. It's not gonna speak for many other eventually released characters, but making sure the characters we basically play as are clearly underage, at least we have that out of the way.

There actually aren't that many female characters here that I'm attracted to despite me being a straight male. That's because I think too many of them are too young. But I still think some of them have good designs.

I am very much aware that I should ignore those people who sexualize these new characters, and I always have. So is anyone else irritated by this dumb habit? Everything said in the OP on the post I linked are my thoughts exactly.

I don't care much either for the frequent sexual objectification of women, though that's hardly unusual. Water's wet, the sky is blue, women hate it when we're treated as some sex toy instead of as a person.

As for your....comic though: any (future) protagonists or characters in literally anything ever being underage--including single-digit age--has literally never stopped creeps, I guarantee you that whatever age the Legends ZA player characters end up being, there will in time be some of that for them too.

I adhere to ignoring it being the best option. Although it's the internet, these images will always exist, and it's impossible to avoid everything.

I'm very limited on which communities I frequent, but the occasional unsolicited porn image still slips into my feed. It's a nuisance.

This is the only Pokemon community I use, and the moderation is very very good. I can't recall any issues with this stuff in the 7 years that I've used this website. At this point I feel no need to venture into 'other' parts of the fandom. Ignorance is bliss.

I really hate to say that's just the way the internet is with pretty much every female character because that just sounds like I am excusing that disgusting behavior. I am in agreeance with you all- I'm not a fan of it either. It's sexist, demoralizing, exhausting, and uncomfortable (especially when minors get involved). It would be nice if people had half a brain not to sexualize minors. It's frustrating how that has to be stated- that should be COMMON SENSE. But as you said, the easiest solution is just to ignore/avoid it when possible.

Why the heck are we having such an openly 'adult' conversation on a 'family friendly' 13+ Pokemon fansite anyway?
As for my thoughts on the topic, I feel they should do the complete opposite. Make all the characters AT LEAST 16+ (preferably 18, but they're never going to not try to appeal to children sadly) that way when the inevitable happens the people who still draw them looking distinctly underaged won't have the '''excuse''' of saying 'I'm just drawing them how they look in-game!!!1!1!'.

please curate your own internet experience. meanwhile, we're curating this particular internet experience in a way that doesn't bring about a ""fun"" debate revolving around children and sex. cool? thanks
