Mission 42/83: Engine of Destruction

We finally arrived at Valhalla, the Terran Dominion's secret weapons lab planet. It took us a long while to get here since its location is the most closely-kept secret in the Koprulu Sector, and our mission, using our Terran army, was to wipe every Dominion base off the map and plunder everything in sight. However, things were complicated by an unaffiliate space pirate, Tychus Findlay, stealing the Dominion's Odin mech and attacking Dominion bases without following our orders. Escorting him wasn't too much of a problem, since the Odin was ridiculously strong and the Dominion's earlier bases weren't the strongest.

We also found a couple Zerg Devourer samples in the labs, the first being sold for 5000 Gil for Arcaneum in FF12, the second being traded for a Tarot Card, The Sun (XIX), for 5qwerty in Balatro, and the third being "stolen" by the Bomb Rush crew to get them 8 more points of REP. We also credited them with the theft of the Odin and the destruction of the entire west base during the "heist" which got them another 32 points of REP. We figured if that the Queen of Blades never bothered to invade New Amsterdam, then the Dominion wasn't likely to as well so they were a safe scapegoat.

The northwest base had 100 Time Shards for Setsuna, and the southeast base had a Power Star for Mario. That base also had the Loki, a prototype Dominion Battlecruiser that we destroyed, and it had some tech we used to upgrade all our Protoss shields. Finally we destroyed the last Dominion base and got the Path of Resilience for Setsuna.

With Valhalla completely under our control, we won't launch any more missions here. It'll become yet another space pirate hideout for us.

Put Early Meditation in Sphere 3, for the record.
I'll check both my uncompleted Sphere 3 missions, but I have little time left today so it probably won't be until tomorrow.

Earthbound (Part 7)

Received the Shyness Book from Final Fantasy 12. Read it to the Tendas to fix their shyness. Opened the way to Lumine Hall.

Encountered nothing bad down there. Coughed up pretty good experience (maybe ~15000 per Fobby, which are weak in vanilla and come in packs). Became Homesick while running around. Happens at a 2 in 256 chance after every battle at that level. Got tagged with it one last time before it went down to a 0% chance at level 76.

Was surprised at the boss. Survived three hits with the bat (albeit it none of them criticals). Might be the healthiest thing faced so far, despite probably not being the highest scaled enemy. (...Sphere 5. Same as the mines.) Now at 5 Sanctuaries out of 8.

Picked up some Goliath Jump Jets down there. Looks like nothing else exciting. Hoped Circle of Life was world access in Kingdom Hearts 2, but no. Appears to be a keyblade.

Hello hello - @Alex_Among_Foxes I don't know how close you are to Ganon's Tower in ALTTP, but that would be super awesome if you can at least get to the Big Key room. It has one of my Systems Access Keys which I need to be able to access the last two dungeons and complete the game - I THINK I can get away with needing just one and that currently seems to be the most direct link (the other is gated behind what looks like at least Surf in my LG which is in turn gated behind whatever Raff needs to unlock a certain level in Doom).

In terms of not saying much in here - sorry about that! I don't really have exciting updates to post and don't feel the need to say what I have got for people, because it is all visible anyway. That and I don't want to be playing for as long as I do and then trying to recite everything that happened - including all items gained!

If there are any items etc. in particular people need then by all means hint or at least mention them here or on Discord, that way I can at least keep an eye out. Hard to decide to tell people if they need things or not when I don't know what is gating progress!

Hello to you! I am able to go into Ganon's Tower in the event I have all the crystals, (I have ledge access, I mean) but I'm sadly lacking the crystal requirements. I set it to... 4? 5? one of those, and I've only been able to clear *4 dungeons so far, one of which only had a pendant. I'm ready and able to clear 2 more with just the Boss Keys, but I don't have them as of yet. The last one will require either the Flippers, Hookshot, Bombos, or all of the above to be able to even enter it, much less clear it.
*Edit: In the event I've set it to 5, of course.
**Edit again: I should also mention I already have the Boss Key to Ganon's Tower, so in the event I'm able to actually get in there, the item you need should be super easy to get.
***Edit for the 3rd time: Turns out I'm an idiot and forgot I cleared PoD already. But I don't remember what I got for that, so I 'might' only need 1/2 crystals to get into Ganon.

I still need the Hydralisks from the Warden's House in your LeafGreen, as a Zerg Anti-Air unit is the only thing between me and easily being able to beat my game. EDIT: Corruptors from Nabreus Medallion 1 (1) in your FF12 would work too. I only need one of the two to win.

If you can get to Pattern Bush than I'd also appreciate the Photon Cannons from beating Bug Catcher Garrett, and likewise for the Khaydarin Monoliths from Clan Boss: Firemane (2) in FF12.

I'll see what I can do!

Unfortunately my Safari Zone is heavily locked down so I don't think I'll be getting to that any time soon. Probably the same with Pattern Bush.

The FF12 stuff SHOULD be doable, so I'll see if over the next day I can get the Medallion quest check done.

Mission 43/83: Sky Shield

Not having enough time for one of the longer Sphere 3 missions I had planned, I did a quick early-game Protoss mission this morning. We traveled, again, to the Terran Dominion's capital world of Korhal, where Moebius Corps were once again trying to attack the planet. This time, they had hijacked the Sky Shield space station and were trying to crash it into the Dominion's capital of Augustgrad. (This may not have been the most sensitive mission to play on September 11th, but I only had 20 minutes or so to play a mission this morning so I didn't have time for much else.)

Not wanting the Sky Shield to crash into a place we had yet to plunder, we sent our Protoss army onto the Sky Shield itself to fight off Moebius Corps's Terran army, and built up an army mostly made up of Instigators backed up by Annihilators to quickly rush their early-mission weak units. Along the way we got some Terran reinforcements, but we had already built up enough Protoss units at the time, so I didn't use either Terran base for anything except mining some more minerals. Once we cleared out the enemy troops on the Stabilizers, we got NPC assistance from Raynor's Raiders, who helped repair them, and once we had the station completely fixed we flew it back up out of orbit... then flew the station away from Korhal altogether to keep it for ourselves.

We looted a lot of treasure off of Moebius Corps too. First off, one of the Moebius Corps bases had a Key of Love for Setsuna, which they were hoping to destroy in the explosion because the Cthulhu knockoff they worship hates the very concept of love. We stopped them and sent it off to her. Next, Moebius had set up multiple EMP Scramblers to disrupt our shields, and two of them held treasure. The first had stimpacks for our Terran Firebats, and the second had a Yu-Gi-Oh card, The Snake Hair, stuck in a vent for us to give to Arcaneum.

One of the Moebius Vikings at the northeast stabilizer was listening to an I Wanna Kno CD in his ship's music player, and we salvaged it for the Bomb Rush Crew. Another stabilizer's guards had a strange charm that allowed us to summon Chicken Little. After he panicked for a few minutes now that the sky actually was falling for once, with him on it, we sent him and the charm that summoned him through a warp gate to wherever Sora happens to be right now. The other three stabilizers' guards had a Poke Ball for Arcaneum's LeafGreen and a Pearl and Yellow Scarf for 5qwerty's FireRed.

Now for the real question... is the Dominion OK? We didn't see a single Marine in reinforcements from them and this attack would've levelled their capital city without our help. We'll send some scouts down to the surface to check on them... and of course rob them blind if they are indeed as weak as they seem.

Mission 44/83: Media Blitz

We descended to the surface of Korhal, on the rooftops of Augustgrad, sending our newest recruit, Tychus Findlay, down with the Odin he stole during our raid on Valhalla.

The Odin, backed up by the Spear of Adun's orbital bombing, managed to destroy almost all of the Terran Dominion's unit production buildings during the sneak attack, and the rest early on in the mission. From there, it was a simple mopup of Dominion forces on Korhal which I managed to solo just with the Odin. This is... we've always fought the Dominion ever since we started raiding this sector, but to see them fall to this level is an embarassment. I didn't lose a single unit on this mission.

Once we had our base set up, we decided on a change of plans. Break into the Dominion's broadcast facilities for its state media, and upload footage of our rescue of Augustgrad from Moebius Corps during the Sky Shield incident to show all of Terran space our heroism, and Tychus's one-man rampage through Korhal with the Odin and the Dominion's lack of any resistance to Moebius Corps to show the galaxy their weakness. This ought to incite the rest of the Dominion worlds to revolt and join us... and we could even go legit from this by rallying them to our cause, and become a real government rather than just a space pirate armada. We already have several worlds under our command from previous raids, so it's actually a real possibility.

That being said, we still took the time to loot the place while we were here. We first got a Vishwar Randi Yu-Gi-Oh card while retreating the Odin after the surprise attack, and gave it to Arcaneum. Then, from the last Dominion Factory, we got a Bomb Refill for confused_piplup, and a Mars planet card for 5qwerty in Balatro from the last Dominion Barracks. The first broadcast tower we raided had tech to improve the speed of our Banshees, the second had an Escape Rope we gave to Arcaneum in LeafGreen, and the final tower had both a Small Key for Alex in LttP and a Power Star for Mario.

However, we recieved very bad news from Korhal soon after we got our loot out. Tychus Findlay had defected and taken our base and troops on the surface with him, barged into the Imperial Palace itself, had Emperor Arcturus Mengsk executed by a barrage of the Odin's weapons, inflicted large amounts of collateral damage to the civilian population of Korhal, and had himself crowned the Dominion's next Emperor.

We now face a revitalized Dominion with elite armies taken from our own troops. Thankfully, Tychus's troops are mostly restricted to Korhal, but our sources indicate he may attempt to invade the Zerg Swarm on Char or the Tal'darim Protoss space station of Skygeirr as his first targets. Most of the remaining Dominion worlds outside of Korhal have defected to us, with only Phaeton pledging allegience to the new outlaw emperor on Korhal.

Interlude 1: The Outlaw Emperor

Augustgrad burned, its defenders slain, the outlaws triumphant. Everywhere one looked, the invaders plundered the cities, stealing everything not nailed down, murdering any civilian that got in the way, or was unlucky enough to be in shooting range whenever a space pirate was bored. One question was on the mind of every Dominion citizen on Korhal. Where is the Dominion army? Why have they abandoned us? How have we lost our capital to the Koprulu Sector's worst scum and villainy? In truth, the answer was very simple. Between the wars with Kerrigan's Zerg Swarm, the Daelaam Protoss, Moebius Corps, the Defenders of Man, the Tal'darim, the Amon Brood and Amon-corrupted Aiur Protoss, Raynor's Raiders, and even the pirate fleets of Tosh's Goons, Mira's Marauders, Heaven's Devils, and Eot's Freebooters, the Dominion's military force had been stretched to the breaking point and, at last, ran out of manpower, resources, weapons, and ammunition.

When the time came for the execution, many looked on in horror. Others looked on in anticipation, a twisted sense of eagerness to see the death of the tinpot dictator whose incompetence had cost Korhal's people everything, even at the hands of those who had taken it from them. But everyone knew that whatever happened today, there would be no more Terran Dominion. Not even the UED occupation had brought it to as low of a low as it had reached this day. Even during the UED occupation in the Brood War, Arcturus Mengsk had escaped, pledging to fight on and free Korhal from the UED. And on that day he had. But not today. Today he was chained to a pair of posts in an old football stadium, the massive Odin mech with the new Outlaw Emperor inside faced directly opposite him, and the people of Korhal watching what were to be his last moments.

"Mr. Findlay, you are making a TERRIBLE MISTAKE here! Yes, I was once a rebel just as you were, but when I began my rebellion against the Confederacy, humanity was not at war with TWO ALIEN RACES! Your insanity and division will see us all infested or killed by the enemies of mankind! Only united can we survive the alien threat, and I am-"
*BOOM* The Odin's T800 cannons fired, and where Emperor Arcturus Mengsk once stood, only a smoking crater was left. Behind him, the audience screamed in terror as the Odin's other shell missed Mengsk completely and hit the stadium bleachers head-on, killing a few civilians and outlaws who were brave or stupid enough to sit directly facing the Odin's guns.

"What was it Jimmy once said? That you're the law and we're the criminals? Well, things have changed, and I'm gonna' have a little fun rulin' this here planet." Tychus turned the Odin around, armed his 330mm Howitzers, and fired them directly into the crowd. When the smoke cleared, a hole in the stadium wall showed a view of Mengsk's Imperial palace, little but ashes, rubble, and bones remaining of the stadium section fired upon by the Odin. As the crowd screamed in terror and fled, Tychus opened a can of beer and set the Odin's autopilot on a course for the palace gates. "No sense in letting such a nice place go to waste, eh Jimmy?" No response. Oh, right. Jim Raynor had sided with that freebooter chick over "civilian casualties". Tychus wondered if he was still alive, then shrugged, exited his mech, and walked alone into what was once the seat of the Dominion's government.

Mission 45/83: Old Soldiers

We intercepted Tychus's new army on Char, with them having heavily dug into the Dauntless Plateau and brought nuclear weapons with them. Thankfully, their air power isn't good here, even though their army is made up of many of our own Terran pirates, and we did have good Terran air power. Perhaps they sent the bulk of their air force to Skygeirr? However, this group seems to be mostly made up of Dominion defectors, led by General Horace Warfield, the only Dominion general to defect to Tychus.

We started off by taking control of a large army of feral Zerglings and Banelings, which we can't build ourselves, and launched a two-pronged assault that devastated both of the Heavens' Devils resource sites, and deployed hatcheries to both. For the rest of the fortress, we built Aberrations at first and Noxious Ultralisks later, which were both strong ground units. For what few air units our enemies had, we used the Kerrigan clone backed up by a few Swarm Queens, which was enough to do the job here, especially since we have her Leviathan ultimate ability.

Destroying the Entrance Gate got us a Gold Nugget for 5qwerty's FireRed, and the first expansion base we destroyed contained a powerful Kazejin Yu-Gi-Oh card for Arcaneum. When we got nuked and retreated, the Kerrigan clone managed to barely survive thanks to a Hard Hat she found that we sent off to Ness. We then destroyed the other expansion base, which had a Fighter's Shield for Alex in LttP. We also destroyed two Science Labs, one containing a Cornn Berry for Arcaneum in LeafGreen, and some more starting Vespene Gas for ourselves. Finally, at the Citadel Gate, it appears Devalue was right and it did indeed contain Meditation for Setsuna.

We have not yet driven Tychus's forces off of Char, and they remain dug in near the Bone Trench. We've even heard reports that he's managed to get the Dominion's Gorgon Battlecruisers operational, and if so we will have a tough time dealing with them with our Zerg army's poor anti-air capabilities.

OOOOOOOH my! It would seem someone got me a Bass Koi for Eastern Palace! TYSM it looks like I've got a dungeon to blitz!
Edit: Rip, it was just for a pendant... >.>

So it turns out that I may have had 'logical access' to certain checks that I thought required the Hookshot that apparently you can also reach with proper dash bonking. I didn't set the randomizer to expect glitches (from memory), but that seems to be considered a 'trick' rather than a glitch, so it may have been enabled due to another thing I believe I set. I'm... Kinda annoyed by this if only because it came without me knowing the game expected it, but I don't dislike it outright either. Just wanted people to know in the event I had a mid-game important item for you that it's taken me a while to get.

Mission 46/83: Cutthroat

While our Zerg were bogged down in Char, our Terran forces were dealing with an entirely problem. Many of our Terran troops, led by Colonel Orlan, had decided that they weren't on board with "going legit and becoming an actual government" now that the Dominion has effectively collapsed. Since they have a significant presence on our own capital world, Dead Man's Rock, we had to withdraw our loyalist Terran fleets from across the sector to deal with them before we can redeploy them elsewhere. We weren't the only outlaws on Dead Man's Rock, however, as Mira's Marauders, the only major Terran outlaw group not affiliated with us* or Tychus, also operated their headquarters on the planet ever since we destroyed her space station.

*Though we have hired her mercenaries on many occasions

Mira Han offered us a deal. We pay back enough resources to rebuild her station, and she'd join up with us against Orlan, and commit to following us as an official branch of our new military. However, she offered the same deal to Orlan, who was negotiating a defection to Tychus. We then began a race to claim enough minerals from the planets' salvage yards before the other could get to them, with us winning thanks to patrolling the area with a small group of Vultures and Diamondbacks to sweep up most of the salvage crates and destroy Orlan's three mining Command Centers, which held Behemoth Plating for our Battlecruiser, a TM49 Fury Cutter for Jbsundown's Crystal, and a Pomeg Berry for Arcaneum's LeafGreen.

We also found some Protoss relics that Orlan had concealed from us, one of which dispensed some Stardust for Arcaneum's LeafGreen, another stored 50 Time Shards for Setsuna, and the last had an Ether for Arcaneum in FF12. When we bought Mira's new space station, she gave us a complimentary TM02 Dragon Claw for 5qwerty's FireRed, and we easily swept through Orlan's forces and leveled his base, plundering an Iron for Raven's Gen 1 Kanto game from the ashes.

With Dead Man's Rock fully secure, we won't have any more missions here. Next up, we'll turn our attention to our Protoss forces.

Mission 47/83: Templar's Charge

With our Terran and Zerg forces occupied, it fell to our Protoss to strike back at Moebius Corps and stop them from attempting another Sky Shield attack. We had known about their hidden headquarters in the Revanscar Asteroid Belt for a long time, but never got around to destroying it until they provoked us yesterday. Today, we hit them with a massive Protoss fleet of over a dozen Carriers, crushing their bases with an overwhelming aerial assault.

They had two Hybrid Stasis Chambers where both Hybrids were inexplicably holding Yu-Gi-Oh cards in their hands, the first holding a Bad Reaction to Simochi and the second holding a 7 Colored Fish. We gave these both to Arcaneum. Moving on to destroy the power cores, we also found a Heal Powder and X Special for Jbsundown in Crystal.

Moebius Corps is now completely wiped out. They will not trouble us again. Combined with our recent victory over Orlan, we now control all Terran forces in the Koprulu sector except those affiliated with Tychus Findlay's mutineers.

Mission 48/83: The Evacuation

When a criminal organization takes control over a territory, at what point does it stop being organized crime and start being a government? Some would say, when it starts providing essential public services. Under this definition, we first truly became a government during the evacuation of Agria. The Zerg had attacked this outlying farming colony, and the Dominion's collapse had left us as the only people left who could organize such an evacuation.

We escorted several convoys of civilians to the Agria starport, letting not a single colonist die, and while waiting for convoys we also razed the nearby Zerg bases with an army of mercenaries backed up by Marines, Diamondbacks, and Wraiths. The colonists left a few things behind, though not much of value. Upon arrival at the colony, we found three Bombs for Alex in Lttp. We found a Mech Mail, Moomoo Milk, and Max Elixir for 5qwerty in Firered from various resource crates and Zerg Chrysalises scattered across Agria. Finally, we got a Wepear Berry for Arcaneum in LeafGreen from a colonist as thanks for saving them all.

We will not return to Agria. There are no more items or missions here and it's not safe for civilian habitation so close to Char. It will remain a military base.

Mission 49/83: Smash and Grab

After Agria, we responded to another distress call from the planet Monlyth. Unlike Agria, we quickly learned that this planet was a colony of the Tal'darim Protoss, who we've been at war with ever since Alarak foolishly refused to pay us for helping him become Highlord. Therefore, we decided to go back to our old ways for a bit and do just a little more space piracy. We sent an army consisting mostly of Marines, plus a few mercs, to claim the planet's Protoss relics and swept through the southern half of the Protoss base, getting us six items.

First off, we got a Protoss relic that unlocks the Cannon in Shifting Sand Land, which we gave to Mario. Next, we got the Little D (the D is short for Dinosaur) Yu-Gi-Oh card for Arcaneum. Moving forward, we got an upgrade to our Zerg Swarm Hosts and a Candle for Setsuna to help her explore the Dark Cave. We killed a couple Protoss Sentries, which had an artifact that boosted our Kerrigan clone's level by 10, and finally killed three giant Stone Zealots guarding an Elixir for 5qwerty's FireRed.

We then left Monlyth behind and let the Zerg eat all the Tal'darim. That'll teach that cheapskate Alarak to shortchange us. We will not return here.

Mission 50/83: Rendezvous

To fight against Tychus's band of criminals, we sent our Zerg, commanded by the Kerrigan clone, to retreat from Char and attack the planet Phaeton, the only Dominion world outside Korhal to pledge its loyalty to Tychus Findlay.

As Tychus has not yet reinforced the planet, we only had to deal with the under-armed Dominion garrison, which we were able to do pretty much with just our starting forces and some Swarm Queens. Kerrigan is much stronger right now than she is normally in an unrandomized version of this level, rendering it something of a pushover.

That being said, we didn't get much in the way of loot from this planet. We rescued three Swarm Queens that each had an item for us. The first had a Storm Crystal for Arcaneum's FF12, the second had a TM 29 (Psychic) for Raven's Red or Blue game, and the third had a Hyper Potion for Jbsundown's Crystal. Further on, we wiped out the enemy base before the holdout section was finished. This not only got us a Defensive Matrix for our Battlecruiser, but it let us skip to the next segment where we got a huge swarm of Zerglings to assist us. We used them to crush the new Terran base across the bridge and destroy the Drakken Pulse Cannon, which had a... Perishable Trap? We accidentally sent this to 5qwerty and we apologize for whatever havoc it might wreak in your poker tournament.

With all the ex-Dominion troops on Phaeton dead, we have no more missions or enemies here. We'll keep it as a Zerg base for now.
