So what are we a performance now?
Anyway looks like the special forms are getting a overhaul. What do you think so far?

imo. Beats the weird 5/1 distribution we've got going on right now, unless the staff forums have been moved to "Backstage", but still, it looks a bit off to 90% of members. If this is the case then just stick the staff forums into their own category as before. As it is it doesn't look too bad, but I don't get the logic behind Member Encyclopaedia being clumped into "Official Forums" (nor do I, thinking about it, get the logic for Celebrations and The Welcome Lounge either). There's definitely a more logical and less cluttered way of organising this.

Yeah not sure I really get the Official Forums placing for ME, if anything making it a sub-forum of The Treehouse probably seems most appropriate given the new "make friends and chat" theme it seems to have going on? Seems a bit cluttered in Official right now but will probably get used to it haha.

Does look a little bit off for me. Maybe the ME could be moved as a secret subforum for the Treehouse. The 5 forums in the Official category just makes it too cluttered imo

staff forums are included in back stage.

we talked about a separate category and agreed that two forums in official would be ugly. also, we wanted ME to be next to other member-centrics like Welcomes and Celebrations. and it actually looks super nice like this.

VIP would have been in Official too but Steve specifically wants it to be separated in order to draw more attention to it. backstage accomplishes that while also cutting out an extra category.

overall I'm super happy with the current layout. Backstage is positively enormous for Hstaff but for every other group it all looks really nice
except for supporters. there is no point for an entire category with one forum for us.
it is so unappealing to me i wish i wasn't a supporter.

I tend to agree with the layout Shenanigans proposed.

The Welcome Lounge, Member Encyclopedia and Celebrations honestly aren't that "official" at all so having them under the "official" category doesn't make sense to begin with. Then when you consider how cluttered the official category looks now - which admittedly is probably only a problem for supporters since normal members don't see a weirdly empty backstage and staff have staff forums there.

As a supporter who does have to look at the weirdness though, I think Shenanigans' idea of

As a non-staffer, the Official Forums looks so super-cluttered from my view of things. I kinda like the layout you came up with there, like have just the forum feedback and stuff in there and then create a new category to hold TWL, Celebrations and Member Encyclopedia.

The thing is, for those who are supporters who aren't on staff, it does look weird right now seeing the VIP Forum on its own. Maybe some hstaff are going to have to think about this, because clutter is something that can look unappealing if not done right.

We also don't want to have just two forums in the Official category though.

I don't get how it's cluttered. Most of PC's categories have 5 or more forums. o.0

it's because of the stark contrast from the official forums and what the supporters see for the vip forums.

log into a support alt and you'll probably see.

Making ME a subforum is a bad idea. Subforums in general have less activity than its main forum, and considering ME is just finally getting a boost in activity that it desperately needed it would be counterproductive to go that route.

I understand concerns of people who think it just looks weird, because it does, but that's not the main problem for me. You're right that a lot of our categories have 5 forums, but in all of those categories the forum placement is logical. In, say, "Pokémon Gaming" you have 5 forums about Pokémon Gaming. In "Entertainment & Hobbies" you have 5 forums about Entertainment & Hobbies. Now looking at "Official Forums" you have 2 forums for the official announcements, feedback, etc. and 3 forums for... community interaction?

While 5 forums can work as a maximum, they need to be logically allocated for it not to look like a mess. Right now we have a large category right at the top of the index - and hence as the first thing that people see when they load the forum - with 2 forums that should clearly be there and 3 that don't really make sense. It just looks a bit thrown together and I think that having 2 "Official Forums" and the other 3 moved into their own category would look way less messy than having 5 when only 2 of them actually make sense being there anyway.

I'd rather we just rename "Off-Topic Discussions" to something more member/community focused and move ME and C! there instead of stuffing more things into the supposedly "Official" category :)

The Official category does look a little TOO cluttered. Other categories with 5 forums in look fine because it's relevant...

I think TWL can stay there, because I'm used to it being where it is. But if it gets moved a new proposed "Community Interactions" category I'm okay with it either way.

But Celebrations and Member Encyclopedia really do need their own new category because I don't think I'd class them as "official" yet. They are basically more like member interaction and celebrating achievements for members. He's right in that other categories with 5 sections, there is actually a reason for those to be there, but this doesn't really fit into the Official Forums category which I think needs to mainly be a focus on forum news, questions and feedback.

Plus, TWL needs to be easy for new members to spot, so it's our official doormat :3

    True.

While seeing it in a new "Community Interaction" category could work, I think it's just perfect where it's at right now. Because new members are likely to notice that section first, and it's best to leave it at the top there for convenience.
