Bad Weather, Natural Disasters?

What kind of bad weather and natural disasters do you get in your local area?

I live in Kansas, so tornadoes. Don't know when the last one was in the area though. Also get bad thunderstorms, and snowstorms sometimes. I guess I also live near a fault line, so in theory, there might be an earthquake here someday?

    What about you guys?

Well, I'm near the Sydney city area so mainly it's just hailstorms and thunder for me and even then they don't even do much.

    I'm such a lucky girl that I don't live in a disaster-prone area.

I get hurricanes occasionally. Nothing since Ivan though.

Well, I live in a relatively calm area, we usually get severe thunderstorms, winds/rain that originally cam e from hurricanes and sometimes a bad snowstorm.

    Until the last couple years.

Now we seem to get tornadoes, hurricanes, freak blizzards and even a small shake from an earthquake. :(

I think we almost got a tornado once at school. At home I live in New Jersey, so obviously those couple hurricanes we've gotten, but that's about it.

I live in Seattle, so we get rain, strong rain at times, we also get high winds. Certain winters we will get snow storms that practically shuts down the city, it makes it too dangerous to drive.

Living in the Pacific Northwest, some of the surrounding communities will get floods. Earthquakes at times.

According to Geologist, we should get a strong Mega-thrust earthquake every 100 years or so, the last one was in 134 years ago, so my area is overdue for one. Mega-thrust can produce earthquakes higher than 9.0. Most of the Pacific Northwest sits on top of the Cascadia Plate, which is sub-ducting on top of the Pacific Plate.

We also have 2 dormant volcanoes. Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens (St. Helens made an eruption in May 18, 1980 - I wasn't born yet).

We usually get heavy rains here especially this 'ber'-months...most of the time we get thunderstorms/rainstorms and sometimes this result to flooding and landslides. The landslides does not affect us though only the flood, the local government is still working on the drainage e.e //for many years now...but I'm just glad that most of the structures here can survive those calamities.

My home country is a natural disaster-free area, so all I get is the occasional thunderstorm or heavy rain plus strong winds that are usually accompanied by floods in areas. Nothing else much. I feel very blessed to come from where I come from - I don't have to deal with hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms and whatnots.

Where I am living now, I haven't yet to experience this land's full weather potential as I've only been here for only under a year. There was this small 30-second tremor here a few months ago though, but that was caused by a response to an earthquake/tsunami(?) of a neighbouring country. Most frightening moment of my Australian life.

My home in the country is ridic. Never nice normal weather. We've had ridiculous drought, that lasted 7 years, extreme flooding, crazy storms that took the roof off our shearers quarters, and almost put a tree on top of me and lately horrible, enormous bush fires. A couple of weeks ago we lost an entire property to bushfire... lots of sheep and cattle dead.. actually quite ridiculous.

Now we are holding out for some rain, or else it's back into drought we go. This time accompanied by the blackened, burned carcass of what used to be nice grazing land.

Flash floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, storms. I think these are the most experienced bad weather/natural disaster here in our place. Particularly flash floods (or just floods, really) due to garbage everywhere, even in our mother's underwear.

(Side note; typo on the thread title. Can't believe no one else noticed it lol)

Hot dry weather is the main curse where I live, which results in a lot of uncontrollable fires. I'm scared to death of Summer because of it. I have to worry every year that everything I own will go up in flames.

Here in Montreal, the weather could vary from 30 degres celsius in summer, and -40 degree celsius in winter. So it's really a diverse place to live :C
And we get heavy snowstorms that are around 40cm and + of snow during winter and also hailstorms. The worst hailstorm we ever had was during 1996, when the whole city of MOntreal was cut of electricity for around 2-3 weeks and some of the phone lines were so forzen it actually started to bend and thus, us ending up having no phone lines either.

In my country, we get earthquakes. Sometimes big ones. Last year when I was at seaside, we got a little sized tornado. Some roofs got blown of.

We've had Tornado watches, and we can get Tornadoes here, but luckily it hasnt happened as long as Ive lived here. We occasionally get Hurricanes when the come up the East Coast( we've had a few, Floyd, Isabel, Irene and Sandy luckily pretty much missed up but originally was going to make landfall at my state) Ive also experiences 2 earthquakes: One a 5.4 which was a tiny shake and a 6.0 last year that made the whole house shake a lot and scared me. This stuff dosent happen that often however.

the place where i live there are no disastars thank dear God the hardest thing that might hit is a rainstorm and i don't mind that at all.

No disasters here other than my game room flooding a few days ago due to a downpour of rain and sleet.
