I enjoyed the commentary as well so kudos ^^

Just next time, whoever did the bright blue make it slightly bright or blue, I kinda stopped reading whatever was bright blue after awhile =(

Oppo's formatting works wonders on a fantastic log such as this. Great battle, and yes, Sims does suck xD

    Needs less 1-0 win.

But anyway, very entertaining log. It's good to see an awesome Hyper-Offense team that can work so well. It's also given me new light to how good Dual Screens are.

The ripple effect and the cripple effect: A OU/UU battle log

    ATTENTION, DEAR READER!
This battle log was made with "dark quote" styles in mind, so if you are on any of those, you should be ok. If you want to read the log in the style it was created for, click this: meh pc.

The ripple effect and the cripple effect: A OU/UU battle log

    Introduction:
I was hanging around at the PokéCommunity Server doing nothing but making alts and kicking them, until Shiningmeganium decided to log on and challenged me to a battle. Having battled Shiningmeganium a few times in UU before, I assumed that the battle would be UU, and thus I loaded my half-way gimmicky yet usually effective UU team made for the Heracross metagame. It became rather obvious early on that Shiningmeganium used a OU team, which may have made the challenge even greater than earlier assumed, yet I felt that this was nothing that my silly team couldn't overcome. The solid, staple OU stall team versus the unpredictable and UU offensive team, who could possibly win?

    Key:

This Silver text represents Opposite Day, and his actions yadda yadda etc.
This Dark Orange text represents Shiningmeganium, and whatever he happened to do is indicated with this text.
My comments to what I'm doing etc will be given in whatever is indicated as the normal neutral text color.

Also note that the little chit-chat that happened is not colored in any sort, so it's up to you to understand who said what! :] (hint, no one but me said anything)

    Opposite Day sent out Azumarill.
    Shiningmeganium sent out Uxie.
    Uxie used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
    Azumarill used Encore.
Uxie got an encore and decided to tombstone itself to death!
    Uxie fainted!

    Azumarill: 100%
    Uxie: 0%/Fainted

The sprites represent the pokemon currently sent out. If a sprite is animated, it indicates that the pokemon in question still has hitpoints left, and can be used for battle, like my Azumarill. If a sprite is not animated, that means that it has no hitpoints left and are unable to battle anymore, such as Shiningmeganium's Uxie. Also, the pokemon that are out at the field will have their health indicated by text below the actual battle, as well as (usually) accurate measurements of their current hp at the corresponding hp bars, barring this one example.

    Battle Log Archive
: This pokeball represents a pokemon w/ no status inflictions etc. If you hover your mouse over it, it will show the name of the selected pokemon, as well as that pokemon's current health. If no name is shown, then that pokemon has yet to be revealed.
    Battle Log Archive
: This pokemon represents a pokemon w/ status inflictions, that be burn, poison, sleep, etc. If you hover your mouse over it, it will show the name of the selected pokemon and that pokemon's current health, as well as any status that is currently affecting it.
    Battle Log Archive
: This pokeball represents a pokemon that has fainted. It has no health, and will not return to battle. Hovering your mouse over it will show the name of the selected pokemon and its current health (0%)
    Battle Log Archive
: This symbol indicates that Stealth Rock is set up on the field. Hovering your mouse over the symbol will confirm whose side it is set up on. (In this example, since Stealth Rock is up on Shiningmeganium's side, his pokemon will suffer the effect of Stealth Rock every time he switches in a pokemon)
    Battle Log Archive
: This symbol indicates that at least one layer of Toxic Spikes is set up on the field. Hovering your mouse over the symbol will confirm whose side it is set up on, as well as how many layers that have been set up. (In this example, since one layer of Toxic Spikes is up on Opposite Day's side, his pokemon will suffer the effect of Toxic Spikes every time he switches in a pokemon)
    Battle Log Archive
: This symbol indicates that a pokemon is behind a substitute. Status moves such as Thunder Wave, Sleep Powder, and Toxic will not affect this pokemon until the substitute has been broken.
If there's anything that I've forgotten to cover etc, either try to understand for yourself, or inform me so that I can make it more comprehensible for the majority of you.

    Shiningmeganium sent out Uxie.

    Azumarill used Encore.
    Uxie got an encore!
    Azumarill: 100%
Uxie: 100%/ Locked into Stealth Rock

E-belt Azu as a lead is probably the most gimmicky lead I've ever tried. It works kinda like a anti-lead machamp with its incredibly powerful waterfall + a-jet combo, and if you dare switch it focus punches you (yeah, I've made lower ladder ragequit by focus punching oma and cloyster leads as they spike up rofl)
Anyways, I figure that Uxie will either t-wave me or just sr up, (a lot of people t-wave azu for reasons unknown :S) so I decide to just go for the obvious encore and force a switch, allowing me to focus punch the switch-in. Also even though I have Moltres on my team, I can just spin away those rocks with top before it enters the scene, so hopefully it shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

Well, so much for that. Damage tells me that it is more than likely physically defensive and not something like a bulky ddancer, so I can go to torterra and set up rocks w/o too much of a worry.

Woooo. I didn't get to set up sr, which is kinda iffy, but on the bright side
aggron gets in for free (and moltres is not sent out! \0/), which means that I can spam head smash at least once to do some serious damage. He sends in forry which I assume is his second physical wall of sorts, of which head smash MURDERS considering how this is scarf(rofl) aggron with a jolly nature. It's a pity that it didn't 2hko though, because that allows him to set up a layer of tspikes that will likely be very bothersome to me since this is, after all, offense – in other words, spinning w/o getting top killed in the process is kinda vital now. Ugh. Also, forry + defensive gyara = stalllll. (makes me wonder why I always choose to log my battles vs stall, rofl)

A rather good sequence of moves for me here, imo. Uxie comes in, and I figure that it means that it'll try to T-wave me, so torterra is a fairly safe switch-in to that. (F*CK off gen V with no twave immunity for grounds >:/ ) Idk why it switched out after using (useless) yawn, but that means free rocks for me, so I'm not complaining. Also, having seen quite a few sub-trans walking around, I decide to be extra ballsy and stay in to scout what happens. (It appears that having encore available really gives you this mindset that "if user x switches in something that can likely set up on you, then they will and they will not go for the obvious kill, letting you encore/use ruining move for them w/o them expecting it", aka what I did right now.

I figure that overpredicting and staying in vs heatran once more simply doesn't compute, and go to the fairly safe switch-in Azu. It protects, which either means that it is simply defensive- or tormenttran. Seeing as azu has "dual" water stab, it should have no trouble with any of that, so the waterfall is fairly assured. Unsurprisingly gyara enters, but with forry dead the rocks are there to stay, so likely it'll have some trouble switching in all the time from now on. Encore was there simply to make sure that it wasn't some sort of bulky DD gyara, so that it wouldn't set up on me. However, he roars once more, and of course moltres gets tombstoned. Considering how I'm using agility > roost, and that it'll possibly just roar again since a switch from my part should be fairly obvious, I stay in once more to air slash it and either flinch it (jirachi flinch chart), or just do some damage before I'm all out.

Moltres goes down with a lot of flames from my part considering how it did next to nothing. Overpredicting didn't do me any good.. barring the fact that gyara is now at rather bad health and will have trouble walling anything after another sr-switch-in. I switch in Mismag considering how it has the advantage over what I've seen from his team (it can ko gyara and uxie with little to no trouble, and can taunt tran from trying to set up). He brings in Uxie as what I thought was fodder, but he tricks a scarf onto me which greatly decreases its stall-breaking ability :/ I kill it, but I guess I'm not the only one that can see where this is going...

I half-way expected Blissey to use pursuit here. :x
Meh. I could've stayed in, but giving up that great synergy with aggron is really hard to justify for the sake of granting a free switch. Also, this mismagius carries heal bell, which will hopefully lessen the pain a great deal on my sweepers if I can manage to spin those tspikes away, hence why I switch. Torterra is also my best choice atm since blissey usually either twaves or toxic once it enters, and w/ torterra already being normally poisoned, carrying recovery (in... synthesis rofl) and the ability to do a rather lot of damage to it w/ eq, it feels like a fairly safe choice. Also I could've tried to predict the switch to something immune to EQ, but DA taught me the hard way that wood hammering a chanse-volution is a really really bad idea. (for the record, it did like 70% damage, killed torterra, and since chansey had wish active it got back almost all of its hp. So not doing that mistake again.)

I figured that Gyara would outspeed (and therefore easily rest off the damage) even a max speed torterra, so I decided just to continue healing up. Realizing that I outsped it, however, and that the next turn wood hammer did over 21% of damage, really made me tear out my hair in rage, as I could've KO'd the aquatic long wet thing and be on my way to killing more stuff with torterra as it cannot be burned atm. Sigh. After a few extra turns of stalling I also realize that this is a decent opportunity to meatspin away, but of course roar hits the turn I switch in top. At least aggron gets another free switch-in... and can yet again spam head smash.

Gyarados may be defensively ev'd, but I really doubt that even a max/max impish gyara could've tanked that hit, especially considering how intimidate didn't get to hit. With my late-game sweeper being dead to rocks and waterfalls, however, that doesn't matter too much to me, because even though azu likely will get more free time w/o gyara pestering him around, the last poke is still unveiled, and based on what I've seen that must be a ghost, which in OU usually means nothing but Rotom-A (or sucknoir rofl). Aggron doesn't care too much about that though, and continues on smashing in heads. Unsurprisingly, head smash misses, and true to its nature shoddy decides to burn it at the same time. I guess I shouldn't be too mad about that part, because the burn rate IS the reason why that attack is used after all, but there's something very annoying with being haxed the FIRST time that attack is used. >:/ Oh well.

    Opposite Day's Torterra fainted.

At this point I just want to sack something, and I decide to take my chances with Torterra once more, as it likely cannot take a hit from what I assume is a unveiled rotom (and by that I mean shadow ball), and since it outsped Gyarados it might as well outspeed tran. That appears NOT to be the case, however, and with its death it essentially confirms to me that this is tormenttran, as I don't think that defensive tran runs that much speed.

Sometimes gimmicks actually works out! Seriously though, this means that even though aggron is now unable to take a hit, it can from now on actually dish out damage. I try to spin vs tran as it protects, which leaves me fairly assured that it will torment, but also if I CC my defences will drop, making lava plume ko me the next turn w/o a doubt, hence, SE is my best option. Also, w/ no sdef ev's that's some fairly good tanking there from top. With its sub gone, I guess that it will either just protect in order to waste more pp, or make another sub. Either way, I'll try to spin as often as I can from now on so that aggron can switch in more than once, since that is really my best shot for taking down the rest of his team.

Sucessful spin is successful! That's really all I have to say about it, considering how most people usually wouldn't give up their sub in order to block a spin. I figure that azumarill should be able to take a beating from a most likely defensive rotom, since I've ev'd it a bit more sdefensive considering how it is usually supposed to be hitting foe moltres' and the likes. But seriously, just HOW bulky is azumarill? O__O also ugh, I forgot that torment works as long as the pokemon HIT with it is on the field, not that it leaves w/ the user. It is almost as if tran mocks me from inside its pokeball, giving azu its fair share of trouble, considering how it would've been able to kill rotom w/ two waterfalls + ajet. :< With rocks n' stuff being away from my side of the field, I decide that azu is too valuable considering how it does well against both blissey and tran, and if nothing else it'll allow aggron to switch moves one final time. In other words, it's time to sack mismag to grant aggron one more switch-in.

This almost feels like I'm doing a nuzlocke challenge, and that even though these silly things gets hit for stab se damage, they STILL refuse to die. This time I pain split simply because I do not want heatran to gain a free sub (and in case of a blissey/tran switch-in it would majorly damage them), and even though that did cost yet another one of head smash's precious pp, I think that was the best action to do given the situation.

I liked it. The opponent's Poke Balls are outside the background sometimes, but it doesn't really matter. Next time you could add a poison circle or something by the sprite (maybe Leftovers too), so you could remove the poison damage in the log.

    Go go go, Blissey!
Who need SD Luke for late game sweeping when you have a Blissey!

    Shut up post.

    Closing words:
Now, I should know better than not to rely on head smash to kill the opposing team, since that always misses when you need it the most (aka always in this situation, lol). But yeah, that head smash miss on heatran early on really caused a ripple effect that ultimately leads to my defeat, hence the title. Nevertheless, despite not necessarily being the most spectacular show, I feel that this was a rather good battle, mainly due to its intensity w/ aggron being deadly every single time it entered the scene, and also due to some good plays on my opponents part. Also this should prove once and for all that even if UU vs OU does make for decent warstories/battle logs, they sure as hell usually never end up being victorious for the team w/ the tier disadvantage, so DON'T DO IT.

In other words, what we've learned today is: 1) Use mons from the corresponding tier if possible, 2) Don't rely on less than 100% accuracy moves to do damage, and most importantly of all, 3) Don't make the same mistake as I did and make teams that are weak to TormentTran :x (though that is somewhat justified in it being uu lol)

    End result:2-0 Shiningmeganium

    Pros:
    Battle Log Archive
Aggron for being a monster and eating steel right out of the ground

Forretress for surviving two hits from Aggron

Head Smash for being awesome. WHEN IT HITS, that is
    Battle Log Archive
    Blissey for the mini-sweep sorta
    Battle Log Archive
Shiningmeganium for the really tense and great battle

    Cons:

TormentTran for giving my puny UU team more than its fair share of trouble
    Battle Log Archive
Hell, I'll put TormentTran here again >> Moltres dying in one hit because I REALLY despise that thing now

Head Smash for being noob and not hitting Heatran. Seriously, wtf? >:[

Great battle opposite day; one of the most enjoyable of gen 4. A nice flavor to end gen 4 on. I thought the layout of the story was very clear and majestic looking.

I think that I should use blissey as a lategame sweeper more often, you never know, perhaps a life orb cm set could sweep. or i could use my seismic toss + choice band

Late night w/ S&M fun, YEAH!

This battle is from the last community night arranged by S&M, as part of the OU tourney. Community night usually means that I'll be deprived from my lovely sleep... and feeling drugged down I challenge Syndrome in order to get our battle done. But before that, meet the team!

    Oppowdon sent out Nidoqueen.
    Syndrome sent out Heatran.

I'm starting with nidoqueen. Why? Well, I really don't remember anymore, since this team is fairly old, but when I first made this team it seemed like a fairly good match-up vs leads that try to set up other things than stealth rock such as forry and skarm, (I run lum and taunt for rose just for giggles :x), as nothing on my team is weak to sr, and its bulk makes it a fairly decent switch-in fodder vs stuff like lucario, that can't ohko it w/ an adamant sd cc w/ all hazards etc etc. (though the main reason why I'm using it is because it absorbs toxic spikes on impact, which is really damn annoying to my offensive suicune and celebi.) Enough chit-chat about my lead, however. Syndrome uses a heatran, which either means that he's using scarftran w/ sr in order to have a next to guaranteed sr up (lol), that he uses shuca tran (which will most likely taunt me because of it having next to no worries from my earth power), or that he uses a lo tran that I've seen a bit of quite recently, which will most likely just set up sr. I run 76 sp. Attack ev's on nidoqueen for this particular reason, as according to libelldra this should be a nice clean ohko (100.31% - 118.89%), so I decide to take my chances and let him set up sr (or taunt me I guess), so that I can down him a mon. Here goes earth power!

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. So much for that, I guess he just put the remaining stat point in sdef or something, even though that really doesn't change the damage output at all. Silly calcs >:/
Now, since this was not shuca tran, I decide to set up sr while I still can – as if it is indeed scarfed, it will have to switch now, leaving me free to set up sr (making it death fodder as it switches into sr and lols), and even if it isn't, explosion has a shot at NOT ko'ing me, so I figure "why not" and click the Stealth Rock button. Also with this gone it will mean that MY Heatran will likely have an easier time sweeping, as it no longer has to care about this coming in and absorbing fire attacks, so it really isn't too bad of a situation.

\o/ I guess he didn't run taunt nor explosion, or it could just be that he predicted a switch-in to a random ghost or something, since sitting at 1% and being faster than your current mon really screams out suicide bombing in pokemon. I get up the rocks - in other words, nidoqueen has finished her current job most excellently, and will promptly be switched out when I find it reasonable, as even if it dies on the switch-in it will still clear the field of tspikes, which as I've mentioned earlier is rather important to me.

He switches in suicune, likely thinking of nidoqueen as set-up bait, or it's just that he wants it in before I could set up t-spikes as well (not that I DO run it though :x). As he as well doesn't run tspikes as far as I've seen, (it's kinda weird to say that when all I've seen is heatran lol), it makes me doubt that it is some sort of crocune, but rather an offensive version of some sort, as at this point "everyone" was offensive suicune weak. Now, considering how I run suicune, celebi and raikou, I doubt that it will be that much of an issue to me, but no matter what kind of suicune it is it will not like being taunted, and if it just attacks me, I can set up on it with celebi with ease.

I actually expected Nidoqueen to outspeed suicune at this point, but I guess my expectations are a *tad* too high to my loyal "drag-queen". Oh well, the taunt strategy proves itself successful, which again lets it become easy set-up fodder for my OWN offensive suicune :x (also since it is taunted it would be forced to attack (or switch) vs my NP celebi, while otherwise it would either just switch OR stay in to cm up, since it already had one boost and gk isn't doing too much to it. Hence, suicune is my safest bet, as hp electric/grass really isn't the one I'd use against a nidoqueen that just stayed in to taunt you out of the random, when a switch would be way more likely)

Great. Hax makes its first appearance in this battle, and it takes the form of a innocent nve crit. Luckily this isn't some sort of tinted lens suicune or anything, but that crit means that I think that I'm within ko range from two hp electrics, as opposed to surviving those, and getting some major damage on that suicune before going down myself.

Whooops. It's essentially at this time that I actually realize that I'm quite possibly not going to survive the next hit, and that just straight out attacking would've dealt more damage. Oh well, I'll try to remedy that by doing SOME damage before I faint, as it could be that he just rolled max damage vs me, in which case I survive and can fatally wound that cheetah-looking-thingy.

Ugh. Suicune goes down with a spark I guess, but the other suicune still stands strong at 70% with its damn annoying bulk. Raikou makes for my best option as far as I know, as it is scarfed and should be able to deal some decent damage to it, as even as it cannot ko it from suicune's current hp, suicune should be unable to significantly damage raikou as well. It has, after all, only 85 base spa.. It shouldn't require a genius to predict my next move, as raikou is after all the legend of thunder...bolt.

(and with heatran gone, that should offer some decent coverage barring on dragons, and w/ salamence being recently banned that should prove less of a problem) However, in case he's scouting for it
    Spoiler:
, I decide to go to nidoqueen on either the switch or the way obvious U-turn, just to pretend that I do not have it, so that I can nail it later. In other words, the dragon will be sacked for the greater good, as it is not of much use to me atm anyway.

    Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.

This is actually a case where hax against me proved itself to work in my favour, as nido was next to useless to me anyway, and it would possibly lead to free setups, so \o/. Jirachi is ugggggh as usual, however. From what I've seen from his team so far (suicune, heatran, and scizor which I assume is choice banded), it would make sense if this were to be some sort of scarfer, that could possibly just flinch my switch-in to death or just uturn out, giving syndrome momentum and the advantage yet again. I SHOULD be having next to no trouble w/ dealing with it unless it is superrachi w/ hp ground or something, since my heatran is still unrevealed, and bronzong can absorb a tricked scarf (albeit w/ a bit reluctance) all day long, since this is a cb zong, kept on the team as a decent check to lo sweeper aero, lo sweeper shaymin, etc as well as being the only thing on this team that can reliably beat blissey barring a taunt combo from nido + bp celebi + tran/suicune rofl :x Also, since I've talked a lot about how I'm loving the performance of cb zong in the matches I've used it, I'm (recklessly) assuming that syndrome is not going to bother tricking it.

    Pointed stones dug into Heatran.
    Jirachi used Fire Punch.
Heatran's Flash Fire raised its fire power!

You may call me crazy, but for one instant I just realized that it could also just happen to be an all out revenger w/ the elemental punches and iron head... in which case the best it could do to bronzong was to fire punch. Since that'd pretty much be my only shot at winning this due to him having still quite a few mons unrevealed, I decide to go to my subsalac heatran to try to end this in this instant. If nothing else, it could also still do with a tricked scarf, as I've killed off two fire resists from him, so spamming it should be a fairly safe action.

He DOES indeed fire punch, which leads me to believe that this IS a scarfed version of jirachi. According to this, he has no other choice but to switch, so I can get a free sub going, and quite possibly wreak some havoc upon his poor four remaining team members.

Score. Now, Syndrome has two choicers on his team in jira and scizor already (well, at least w/in my speculation), so I really doubt that this nite is choiced. It is very possible that I'm faster than it, as dnite (at least in this metagame) frequently runs a dd lo set w/ outrage, aqua tail, and extremespeed in order to differentiate itself from salamence, and that set has an ADAMANT nature, while my tran is TIMID. In other words, if I outspeed it, I know its set, and can plan accordingly.

Yep, it's wood. Now, it has no leftovers recovery, which really hints to it being a lo version, which means that it'll die if it gets to attack once more. And hey, why shouldn't it? I mean, it has extremespeed, so it can just use that and then revenge me w/ jirachi, since it will outspeed me any day. In other words, if it attacks (which really makes sense with me), I can just sub up in order to grab some protection from priority (not that bp from scizor bothers me much lol), and possibly grab the salac boost as well..

In the end, tran proves himself to be a manly man that ravages the rest of syndromes team with ease. Might be a bit of a troll-ish match on my part, but it still was a really good one if nothing else because of the predictions w/ tran. However, community night was not over yet, and after a long wait w/ me being left alone as everyone else on the server watched two of the mods of S&M bashing it out, Anti arose to rejoin the fun of community night as my final opponent...

And guess what, as part of this bargain deal, you get to read that battle as well! Two logs in one click! Omffg, what a sweet deal!

Ironically, as great as a lead that I think that Nidoqueen is (or at least, was) it fails to do anything to Azelf, the most common lead in the game, which really sux. I figure that I can just stay in and break its sash w/ a fire blast, as I will likely be taunted sooner or later anyway. (colbur berry doesn't really matter in my case now, haha)

Nvm that it actually runs taunt for a reason, woo. Well, it will likely just attack now, so I can at least switch into something that doesn't mind taking a psychic attack, bronzong! After this, I planned to do the exact same thing as I thought I did vs syndy, namely luring a fire move, hoping that explosion doesn't do too much, and from there I could get a sub + a ff boost in the process. (nvm that I'm too tired to notice that in my train of thought azelf has FIVE moveslots... haha)

And in comes Lucario. Now, I wouldn't be too surprised if it ended up w/ e-speeding me and ko'ing, but to my surprise he vacuum waves (w/ no lo recoil) which I've only heard of one lucario set doing – specsluke, a relic of old (just like anti and his specsmence love lol). Essentially I've only read about this in the battle log archive from earlier years, as I've never actually faced one – nevertheless, a mon locked into a 60 bp move really screams set-up fodder – why not use something that resists v-wave and can exploit the fact that it has to switch to the fullest?

In comes P2 (I guess anti is like the only one that would use P2 as well, lol (keep in mind that this was before the pre-evo stone!)), which takes laughable damage from grass knot and un-stab'd hp fire, so it would usually be a decent switch-in to celebi. Problem is this is a NP celebi, aka beast, being able to plow through most things with its very decent bulk and horrifying spa after a boost, but the thing that makes it truly dangerous is the fact that it has the bulk to achieve several boosts...

    [color=#FFFF]Review:
Well, unlike my last log, spamming high power / low accuracy moves didn't lead to my downfall, but that probably will come back later to bite me.
These battles differentiates themselves from that one however, mainly because I was able to win because I could to some extent predict what my opponents were about to do, and w/ Jirachi and Lucario locked in nve moves, I could set up on them for free. In other words, if you want to win, predict what will happen, and use your opponents' items to your advantage. (lo stall, set up on locked attacks etc).
Thanks a lot for the good battles Anti and Syndrome, and let this act as a booster to how fun commie night really is! woo.

This team is seriously awesome lol, the team I ripped off had no answer to your strategy. To be honest though, I had never seen NP Celebi before ever so it didn't really cross my mind, and as you could see I didn't play it very well as a result...though I doubt it would have mattered. It was a fun way to get absolutely destroyed, lol. I think what really got me though was blowing up Azelf early, not only was it not there for Suicune (whenever I use lead Azelf I like to save its Explosion) but it also "forced" me to priority you. Oops.

Fun battles though lol. Your team IS so trollish.
