a continuous Kanto journey roleplay. welcome.

Kanto is one of the most modern regions in the Pokémon World. With plenty of big cities and routes, and few mysterious or religious places left, some even call Kanto plain or boring compared to the ancient Sinnoh or dramatic Hoenn. Yet, the region is popular, both for business and pleasure. And last but not least for one, major reason: the pokémon league.
Some say the league arrangement and organisation originated in Kanto, long time ago. Others say it was just modernized here so that people associate Kanto with pokémon battling. No matter how the actual history goes, the fact remains that natives as well as travelers seek the fame, strength and prizes that can come from being a successful pokémon trainer in this region.
And now it's your turn. No matter your background or your age, you have decided to get a League License for this season and start traveling and training to beat or impress all the official gym leaders, collect badges and eventually hope to qualify for the final Pokémon League Tournament atop Indigo Plateau. The League License is usually referred to as a Pokédex - a nifty encyclopedia/minicomputer/phone/ID invented by professor Oak.
Since the lowest ranking official gym is situated in Pewter City, most League Challengers begin their journey there. The same goes for you. Regardless of where you started from, you have now reached Brock's town with the few pokémon partners you have captured so far. Are you really ready to take on your first gym already?
NOTE: New player will now be starting at the entrance to Mt. Moon, not at Pewter City.
This will be an "archetypical pokémon journey RP" (thanks, Plumbum!) meaning that your underlying goal as you play will be to visit all the gyms of Kanto and collect badges. However, you can travel in any direction you want (even though it is advised to take on the gyms in the order they are encountered in the games), go back and forth, linger somewhere, aquire a trainer class and gather specific kinds of pokémon, set up sidequests or your own goals... It is your adventure.
Every new main character will start in Pewter City, and cannot access other areas than Viridian Forest and Pewter City before they have challenged Brock. After that though, you don't have to wait for anyone or do a special event to continue. There are only a few things I require that you follow if you want to step into this RP, and I'll talk about them below:
Aquiring pokémon
You can capture as many as you like. In each area, I will provide a description post and that will include what wild pokémon you may encounter there. Of course you can decide for yourself what moves the wild pokémon know. Only 6 pokémon can be carried at once, and the 7th will be teleported into the "digital world" until you access it via a pokémon center. Before a capture is complete, you must end your post and let the GM decide if the wild pokémon will really come with you or not. If not, try again or do something else! You may only trade pokémon with other players - not with NPCs.
Moves & EvolutionThere are no levels in this version of the pokémon world, but for simplicity's sake there are universal "moves" that pokémon can learn by growing stronger or practicing. Don't try to make too much realistic sense of it, please ;) For each area you pass through, I will require at least one post (meaning, you can't just hop from one area to another and skip the route in between). And for each area you pass through, you may teach each of your pokémon on hand 1 new move. 6 is the max number of moves a pokémon can keep in memory at once. When you feel like it would be nice if your pokémon evolved, the GM will decide if your request is granted or not. Pokémon will not need trading or most kind of items to evolve - exception is stones, which will still be required. Also note: you better keep track of your movesets yourself. I will possibly list each character's pokémon somewhere, but not the moves!
GymsI think I'm going to keep the traditional gym leaders for this RP. Whenever you challenge a gym leader to a battle, end your post just when the battle is over, before the gym leader has said anything on the outcome. The GM will decide whether or not you deserve a badge, judging from how you handled the gym posts. Be aware - it won't be impossible to lose a gym battle but still get the badge if it seems like your character tried really hard or learned a lot! After all, didn't Ash get a few badges without proper victories?
Team RocketI will not present a specific plot related to them, but you may incorporate them in your own plots if you want. We assume that they behave and have the same basic goals as in the Kanto games, else you can pitch your other ideas in the OOC thread and see if someone wants in on your crime-fighting (?) shenanigans!
Legendary pokémonMeaning Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, Mew, Mewtwo and also Deoxys. As with Team Rocket, I will not include them in any overlying plot, but if you want to make a specific legendary pokémon important to your character's story somehow, feel free to incorporate that in your SU or pitch ideas in the OOC thread later!
Using the OOCYou can chit-chat in the OOC thread whenever you want, but there are some times when I require that you make a post there to notify the GM about changes:
-- When you have posted a capture attempt and are awaiting approval!
-- When you have posted a gym battle and are awaiting judgement!
-- When you feel finished with an area and want to move on into one that has not yet been described!
Otherwise, I might miss your IC posts and you'll have to wait unnecessarily long ;;

RULES:
- Rating is T, so try not to be too explicit.
- It is okay to make joint posts. It is also totally okay to make solo posts. Choose a mix of the two that gives you the best journey RP experience.
- I plan to leave spots open indefinitely. New players will always startin Pewter City at the entrance to Mt. Moon with two pokémon (or one if they prefer so).
- Be fair, don't make your character overly unbeatable, and never bunny another player's character without their permission.
