The bro gamer is a name given to a type of video gamer that exclusively plays mass-marketed games that usually get yearly releases with little changes, grimey linear FPS games featuring a macho, overpowered soldier guy as the protagonist, and/or free roam games based around a criminal protagonist that involves a crap ton of shock value, edginess and gangsta rap. The choice in games usually reflect the personalities of the player, often being between ages 15-25, is overly-masculine and loves sports/working out, bragging about smoking weed and listening to generic frat boy metal/rap music. Think of him as the "bro" who wears flat billed hats, popped collars and tapout shirts. They tend to reject other games outside of the aforementioned, more specifically Nintendo and indie games for being "kiddy" "nerdy" and having "crappy graphics". Although I have known bro gamers that still play Pokemon on emulators, though hate everything after the first few gens, so it's not necessarily always the case. They may like some older nintendo games (Pre-GCN) but only because they've grown up on them.
BTW, I'm not calling all people that play COD/Halo/Madden/GTA "bro gamers". It's just a common type of people that happen to play those games.
Thoughts on the bro-gamer?
