I really don't like userbars haha, I always have them disabled. Or at least as text. Love the text option. But yeah, since I know what all colors mean I usually just disable them.

Putting an extra field in the postbit is a better option than blobby userbars imo!

^this. As icky as you think they are, you can disable a whole bunch of junk now, which I was oblivious to until I switched themes :C

A good thing it's an option and not an absolute, then ^^

I kinda agree with this. As much as I like the new supporter name colours, I'm also partially colourblind so sometimes gold tier looks like the old green not to mention I can't distinguish between the Silver and Platinum members (by coloured username).

An option to have the old supporter bars or the new colours would be nice, but it seems like it could be a bit of a hard task to initiate.

although one thing

why is showing how much money you donated really matter :p

I mean you donated to help, right? why care about everybody knowing?

I think it's nice. Not many people were offering PC much support by donating money, so I believe that this will promote more future support to help this place more. It's not about the money, but I think it's about bringing PC the support it needs to survive.

I think the issue is less that we want to show off how much money we gave and more we want to be clear to people who don't know what our names mean? People coming from other forums that may not have a supporter type thing or just don't know our format. People new to forums entirely. Imagine how much activity CQ&F would get just about "who are these people and why do they have special names???" lmao

I was thinking just the same. Given The Welcome Lounge is one of the sections I post in a lot I'd imagine someone I was welcoming would ask about why I have blue italics or something like that.

If admins were just bold red and not italic, maybe things would be even simpler. Forum staff are the bold usernames, supporters (and supporter-like status like battle server staff) are italic :3

I know that Serebii's staff aren't bold italics, just bolded. But the vBulletin type PC runs on tends to make the admins bolded italics so yeah I admit I'd imagine what they'd look like if it was just bolded like the rest of the staff.

Oh, and something weird happened to my profile lol

Spoiler:

No matter if I use a profile pic or not, my name is always aligned to the right. Not even using the "spacer" option fixed it.

I think that it is an extremely important thing to consider how we look by default. Sure, we can have toggles for userbars and colors and formatting, but those new regular users won't dive into these settings - at least not immediately. We have to consider how our names look to the random people who come for ROM hacking. And if they get into the system, we might want them to donate. A community supporter status, new users might think, is a quick and easy way for them to get some desired respect and to feel part of the community.

I think that we by default should have a clear and obvious thing - which might be a userbar, might be something else - but it should show that we are supporters, and it should link to the donation page. To minimize confusion, and to keep receiving donations from people who want to support the community.

I think the standard for new members still is to show the big userbars, and if you click them you come to the donation page :3

I can see where you guys are going, and if memory serves me right that until the new changes were implemented, supporter userbars in postbits actually linked to the donation information thread.

They did, yes - and I think that is extremely important, because how else is anyone going to find out what the bar actually means and where to get one?

I love the progress and colors with this.
Anyway, how's everyone wrapping up their spring breaks?
