All of you are silly. The superior method is recording lectures instead! Assuming your computer microphone is good enough and you aren't in a huge lecture hall and it isn't a class that needs any visuals or anything like that.
I find this helps me quite a bit for regular classes, as I tend to study by means of osmosis but I usually need some sort of reference if there are small details that I need to remember, or if I need to differentiate something similar from another. Arbitrary usage on various subjects, as it's not what I prefer to do but it's a helpful guide in some cases. n_n~

I tried this one time, but it turns out that my laptop's microphone is terrible. I've also contemplated using my iPod to record lectures, but this is high school and there's an interruption for every sentence the teacher speaks. As you can see, recording lectures isn't the best for me. XD

Though if I were in university, recording lectures might be easier to do~

Someone actually got suspended from my college for doing that once. Apparently the teacher is really paranoid about someone using his voice for something other than learning so when he found out someone was recording his lectures he flipped and got the kid suspended.

That's really over the top, tbh.

I've heard there are some good ones that amplify noises, but I haven't gotten one like that, let alone having one at all.

I do have a few blank tapes sitting around though.

One thing I do know is that what you hear after your brain processes it isn't the same as what a microphone "hears".

Of course, if you're concerned about missing anything from a recording, you can always combine that with a notes combo going on. Take notes and draw diagrams and such while you're recording. Bound to be effective, and if you have a reason for it not to be then you're not trying hard enough.

I think my problem with recordings would be listening back to it all XD Normally I can read an hour lecture's notes in 10-15 minutes reasonably well, but having to listen to someone drone on for an hourrrrr. <yawn>

Also I'd be screwed when it came to speed revising the day before the exam XD

My luck would be that I'm so intent on the thought that I can listen to it later that I start to zone off on something else so I end up with very few notes.

Somewhere along the line, I started finding out that I did the same on tests regardless of whether or not I studied, so my note-taking in class got sloppier and sloppier to the point where even I had difficulty reading my own notes. Not that they were all that helpful, but still....

I'm taking online courses so I can just sit at home and do my assignments that way, without any fear of "lectures" and things like that. xD

I think I enjoyed my life on campus (outside of classes of course) too much to really even consider online courses. I think it's really the fact that I had a social life after classes that attracted me to an actual physical university. Well, that and getting far, far away from home xD

I'll agree with EOLS on that. I tried taking two online courses last semester but they just...weren't right for me. I prefer having a teacher talk to much in front of me than read a ton of stuff for just one assignment. xD

I started school last week xD. So far it's been going well. :) But I wish you the best of luck nonetheless, Minzy. :D

I'm actually nervous about my courses because this will be the first time I'll be taking online college courses. .___. The last time I ever took an online class was like, high school. x_x

I can only hope I can handle it, but I don't think it'll be too bad.

I haven't applied for college, so I guess I'm just not going to do school this semester. Might as well use this time for working and learning to drive. (I just have to actually start searching for jobs, now, since I wasted the entire summer doing nothing.)

Isn't replacing every username the reason it keeps failing?

Oh, the nickname feature..

<IN MY OPINION>
Thing is, that's a VB4 feature, so unless we upgrade (lol..), somebody would have to code it, or search for a plugin that was actually stable enough to use. Another thing about the Display Name feature is that admins don't change it, members can go in and do it. Therefore, they could change to anything they wanted, however dirty, or rule breaking they want, and an admin would have to notice it to go change it. Unless it was added in to use the forum's word filter. So.. hypothetically, if PC had the Display Name feature, it'd likely have to have some sort of customization that maybe once someone picks a new name, it'd go into a queue and have to be finalized / checked by admins before being changed. There'd also probably be a limit, so they wouldn't be approving 9230 of them every day, and that would all have to be custom coded for VB3, so.. ohmygosh if any of the admins do all that, they should get actual cash paid to them. -w-;
