Conficker-the major virus bomb of 09 said to lay down its might on april 1st.

OK, I'm going to let everyone to know how to not get infected in a few easy steps

1. Disable autorun for USBs, CDs etc (google search for how this step)
2. Browse safe websites and not sites that contain illegal things
3. Make sure you have the latest updates for your OS and antivirus
4. If you think you're infected use bitdefender's conficker remover at: https://www.bdtools.net
5. Don't download any suspicious files, even if it's in an email from a friend or a weird looking link over a messenger chat client

And that's all there is too it. You are now conficker free

WHO THE HECK CREATES A VIRUS LIKE THIS I MEAN THIS IS JUST STUPID DO THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO PROVE...Anyway i updated everything on my computer so i'll hope for the best

Dun don dummmmmm, Intense drum rolls...

Its obviously an April Fools joke in my opinion so yaa...

I too am a mac user but Im still scared. Why would it be on April Fools Day though?

Im starting to believe it was all a big prank hype.

Wha? What on earth is domain routine?

Wow a 250,000 dollar bounty is out for the creator of the work!, also I found a rather new article explaining how to delete the virus itself.

Link

Best of luck to those who are infected to get out of it. i myself took a test and am clear :D

Well not Pokecommunity alone, mainly unregistered domains. So it is highly unlikely it will attach itself to a .com domain.

ALright, well i sure hope not, will thos unregistered domains then be permanent? Is it posting info from the people who are infected and if you were infected would you know it now?

People can register their domains if they wanted to, I read somewhere that some .ca sites were registered because of this worm.

You probably wouldn't know yet as it is checking domains it can use so far, we'll have to wait for future threats of it and see what happens from there.

This is getting pretty real. i thought it was hype but man its like Y2K was delayed 9 years.

So wait you mean since PC is a registered domain that it wont get used as the virus hole? But say you type PC wrongly like pokecomunity instead of pokecommunity then you could possibly fall into that hole? No speed typing for me today!

My mum was watching the news and she said that they were talking about how the Conficker virus turned out to be a hoax.
I'm not going to believe it until I get some hard evidence, but I am slightly relieved.

Haha lol i dont think so i mean why would confiker be searching domains to use to attack computers. This **** is real and happening. After today i wanna see how bad the internet will be.

I am so freaking worried about this. This is going to attack Windows operating systems, right? Goodness. And we may already havr it stored? Scary....

Why do people think they're going to be infected without browsing one of the many infected domains?

also it's April 1st now, no signs of infection

My mom just updated her computer, and now she's updating mine. :3

My mom also said that tomorrow, I cannot go on any websites, so, I won't be on here all day tomorrow, unfortunately, missing April Fools day here! ;______;

I'm really happy, I updated my computer with brand new virus software two days ago and so I can stay on here all day.

This. With all the people offline thinking they're avoiding something big, the threat won't be as big.

April 1st is a trigger date. All that will happen is that it changes the way it looks for updates. This only applies if you already have the worm, and it will simply change what it does a little. The ruckus about people needing to stay offline is unwarranted, for a number of reasons. First of all, the worm primarily spreads through removable media and through networked computers. Second, and I cannot stress this enough, the trigger will not make you more likely to get the worm, at least not on April 1st. If the update for the worm is really well planned, it may make you more likely to catch it later, but for today at least, you're going to be no more in danger than you were yesterday.

My computer isn't networked, plus the only removable drives I use are my USB flash drives and my PSP, which never leave the house much.

Well, I went to the Microsoft site and it loaded just fine. I'm safe for now.

I was scared sick, but as of now, nothing out of the ordinary seems to be taking place....

If it IS real, not ALL computers were claimed to possibly get the virus.

i heard that Macs get out of this one alive. As for the rest...

Yes, but I was referring to Windows, too.

Oh no, April 1st - this crap blew up my computer.
