I think that's why I don't post up my fanfics that much since most of the critics are too critical I guess that could be the word for it.

It's actually because I did nothing with the position that I got chewed out and ultimately insulted by one of the admins of said site (because I "wasn't doing my job" that I never asked for in the first place). Fortunately, (I've at least heard that) that particular site is dead and buried. Good riddance.

^This. It's the reason I only write once in a blue moon nowadays (and I try to be ninja-like about it to avoid unwanted attention).
 
The only other Pokemon forum I tried was Psypokes, and it seemed rather slow to me (as in, I posted in one of the biggest topics or something, and didn't see a response anywhere in the forum for like, 3 or 4 days...o__0) Maybe I just posted at a slow time or something, but after that, I realized I had an account here and figured I'd try it. Glad i did! :D

I been on a couple of other Pokemon forum sites and is hopping to join another Pokemon community site later on since I like being on different sites. I joined this one site called SuperSkarmory. The site was nice, layout was neat, the site wasn't slow. The only bad thing is, their rules are really strict. You can get points/warning for just reviving a thread that hasn't been touched a week although the rules state it must be over a month or something. I'm so use to being on forum sites that allow you to revive threads that I didn't think it was a huge rule. Even if someone revived it and you replied to them you'll still get a warning. I think that was why I left that site.

I review fanfics, but I'm not too critical over the work. I would say some things that needs improvement, but I will also mention some of the good things about it. I can understand though why some people will be critical though because how a work will need some improvement and they want to help you. I used to be scared of someone being critical of my works, but now I'm cool with it because I know there are many things in my writing that I need to improve on, and I want to improve.

from what i've seen smogon is wonderful. granted i haven't played the children's game pokemon for a long time so i didn't check out the pokemon sections, however the "other chat" forum is really nice. you can make topics about everyday things without worrying about whether or not what you post is "appropriate", and you don't need to worry about your topic being closed because the argument you provided in the first post isn't that great despite the fact that the thread had already taken off.

oh and you can say suicide without a moderator stepping in to tell you not to say suicide. n_n

also, @bobandbill: serebii is waaaaay boring, like super mega boring or something to that effect. he copies all of his news from other sites anyways, and yeah. you can't choose your avatar. the site is ugly as all heck etc. really just a bad website in general. n_n

Tbh the only valid argument in this post is the part about the avatars, and to compensate for this, Serebii has uploaded thousands of perfectly appropriate preset avatars anyway so it's no real issue. The idea that SPPf 'boring' and 'ugly' are both heavily subjective. I personally find many of PC's personalised user profiles, for example, to be very grotesque and unnecessary. I'd actually say that it has one advantage over PC in that members which cannot afford to donate are not inferior to ones who can, as Serebii refuses to take donations.

Additionally, that accusation about Serebii copying his news is not true. Besides, at least Serebii has news anyway.

Not saying that one forum is better than the other.

Edit: Although, looking back over the last page of posts, I find the amount of hating on SPPf to be really disappointing.

So I say that SPPf is not all bad, and I am instantly a Serebii fanboy looking to start a flame war? I assure you, this is not the case. Consider what I'm actually saying before making accusations please.

If it means anything and I haven't already been labelled as a Serebii 'scumbag', as it seems the general interpretation of SPPfers here seems to be, I could actually see myself liking this place better in time because of the warmer community and the lesser amount of lag.
