[PokeCommunity.com] Daily Chit-Chat (Extra Festive)

also i hope everyone had a great weekend

my weekend was amazing since i had the ENTIRE weekend off for the first time in literally 4 years (its very rare when you work retail)

I changed my work schedule so I only work two days a week, because I never really have the time for schoolwork when every other workday is filled with high school level drama lol

What kind of work do you do now Angie?

I work at a bakery. More specifically, I help pack and load pastries for delivery at various stores.

My line of work is very teamwork-based, which means you kind of have to, at the very least, tolerate the people that show up to work that day.

My biggest problem is that everyone eventually knows everyone else for better or for worse. You get to very quickly figure out who's annoying and terrible to work with and who's actually productive and cares about their job, but the worst part being is that regardless of it all, you're never within more than 10 feet from that person (the space that we work in is pretty small). So even their mere presence grinds your gears.

This is what I have to deal with on a near daily basis. This is why I'm transferring to an administrative position because desk jobs are amazing and honestly I'll be separated from all the drama and bs lol

Desk jobs do sound amazing lol. Thankfully, I ended up winning the lottery in regards to my work team and I love 80% of them. I don't think I could ever work somewhere where I hated my coworkers. After all, I'm spending 60% of the entire week with them......

I do fantasize about having a calm desk job far separated from people but I also think I would miss the hustle and bustle?

My administrative job is just dealing with paperwork for training and then later on I'll learn more things like how to register new employees into our system, missing timeclock punches, etc etc.

I have a desk job, and tbh sometimes I miss being a server! Like, I love the stability of my job, but I definitely had a lot more fun as a server. I've been with the same company for 5 years now, and I work from home, so socializing at work.....isn't as much of a thing anymore for me. I mean, I have conference calls and whatnot every so often, but it's not the same.

When I used to work as a travel agent, I was so envious of the at-home agents. Sure, they rarely socialized because they were pretty far away for the most part, but to have the flexibility of just... getting out of bed, going into the adjacent room just to clock into work and not having to worry about commuting is a dream. @__@

The only part I'm probably not a fan of in regards to most at-home jobs is that you're kinda forced to use their crappy mid-2000s era computers because the company sees no reason to upgrade past Windows XP or 7 or w/e. >_> kinda annoying.

I don't actually have a computer, per say. I have a Wyse box and work off uh a virtual session? Essentially all of my files/etc are stored on a server that I can access on any work terminal with my login/password. It's pretty convenient if I need to ever work in the office!

Our work computers are super restricted by group policy for security reasons. We do have a Citrix thin client installed though, but that's also pretty janky. No file storage, so we have to use our email as persistent storage, and there's also a lot of more group policy crap so simple to fix things are troublesome and require support tickets to fix.

I was lucky enough to work in a place that was like "just don't download illegal shit and get ur work done"
