Argh, I hate it when relatives bring kids to my place too! They love to touch stuff, and the antique collection displayed prominently in my room is a target...I have very fragile glassware and things like that. Some little cousin of mine actually broke a 50s transistor radio that I had once =/ I also have lots of little trinkets, action figures, video games, and things like that which the kids might want to get their hands on...I usually close my room to any family that comes, there are even adults that come here that I wouldn't trust farther than I could throw them to not steal something...criminality runs in the family somewhat, unfortunately. But yeah, kids are the worst. All they want is to play, and my room always ends up becoming a mess, usually rubber balls and kooshes strewn on the floor, sometimes dolls and k'nex. And I know I shouldn't hold this against little kids, but I just get so annoyed when they say something that's half babble and I can't understand it...I'm an expert at nodding and "mmhmm"-ing though, and that usually helps, but whenever the parents are there they're always like "Didn't you understand? They said ______" and they act like translators and get ticked when I still don?t understand their kid. I actually don?t get along with any of my relatives, I have so little in common with any of them, but kids especially. I?d like to give them a frisbee, turn ?em loose in the backyard and be done with them.
I wish I could bring stuff back! Cracker Barrel and the flea market have such amazing things, I could spend all day at both places even though I only get to spend a few hours...I?ve made some excellent antique finds at the flea market, and hopefully this year will be no exception. There?s a really famous glass company near where I go that might be closed down...the owner had a stroke last year and they weren?t sure whether they?d be open or not. If they?re not open, there?s still ebay I guess, but it?s not the same as purchasing the work from the place itself. Either way, vacation?s going to be just as fun, even though it?s short...we spend an average of 46 hours in West Virginia, not even two days =/
