Well, I did say I wouldn't be on as much in the 'Leave of Absence' thread....
Hint! Hint!
Hehe...
You know, I can't just miss my dear friend Jordan for the sake of missing my dear friend Jordan?! I read your post in that thread but I chose to give you the satisfaction anyway! *points in Jordan's face* Don't give me any lip, young man! >_<

In any event, when I was in middle school...I seem to be reminiscing a lot lately about middle school ^_^;...the two band teachers were having an "affair" and the faculty eventually found out and they, the two teachers, were fired because the principal thought it wasn't a good influence on the students, lol. Well, in a way it wasn't, but as long as they didn't publicly display their affections and did a good job teaching...then why bother firing them. And no offense to anyone here, but the weirdest kids seem to be in band at my school...heh. My town's full of stupid people and stupid actions, anyway; and, the education of the future seems to be the least of their worries at the moment. They even thought of closing down the PUBLIC LIBRARY. Um, hello? Let's just go and make children illiterate now, hmmmm?! But, they had an override vote and the library won by 39 votes. That's a real close call.

?or something. o.o;
Wow, I'm pretty much the opposite, except when it has to do with school work. Then I would like to know exactly what I have to do to accomplish my task. When it comes to something for my own pleasure, I don't like to have any boundaries.

You saw it? Oh, I had no idea! Thanks Chrystie! It touches my heart to know that you missed me!
*smiles*
Hehe..

I agree, though the whole thing is rather strange hehe...
Just put some distance between them during the school day! They didn't need to fire them!
A lot of people here seem to be in band, so careful what you say! But, I know I'm wierd, so there's nothing new to that hehe...

contradiction? as that's how computers work? o.o;

... or maybe computers seem to work that way for me because I know too little about it...

Hehe...

That sounds a lot like my director! He was always really funny, but was strict enough not to let the class go haywire. He even played with us, to help us with our problems. That was really cool...
My new band teacher is a 28-year old that really tries to rush through everything. In middle school, it took about two weeks until we started to play an instrument, but in high school (since I was placed in the beginning band by mistake, I got to see the beginning students) the director expects them to play after only about a day. It's crazy...

Are you consiering going back to band? What did you play? I would stay in band, but I really don't like my new director. Sometimes it's just a waist to go to band class....
The band teacher seems nice enough!

Yeah my band teacher in middle school was really cool. And funny... he would always make jokes about things. If someone screwed up he would make it into a nice joke... not being mean about it, just joking. He wasn't strict until someone did something to make him mad. And when he got mad... it wasn't pretty. You could tell when he was in a bad mood... he was usually a really happy person. We usually started playing our instruments a week or two after school started... most people rented theirs and it took a little while for them to get theirs. I don't know how it works in the high school though...

I really wish I could go back to band... but it's been 2 years since I last picked up my flute. I was never really good at it anyway. I wasn't bad either... just not great. My reason for quitting had nothing to do with my teacher though... I don't really know the whole reason. I didn't want to do marching band really. And most of my friends weren't going to be in band anymore...plus most of my friends were in chorus so I switched to there. It's almost impossible for me to go back to band now...

Same here. Strict yet funny! He knew how to settle us down, and to make us laugh. A good combination!
I rented my tenor saxophone from the Mars company. They went out of business a while ago though, so when my saxophone broke, we had some issues with the new company...

I wasn't a prodigy with my saxophone either, but it was fun to play it anyway. When the tests came around, there were only two of us tenor saxes, so there wasn't a lot of issues over seats (did you have that too? The chair placement? The best players in that certain category of instrument sat somewhere closer to the middle...). I did have my good days, (I had a nice solo once) but I was an average player, I guess you can say. You played flute? Cool!
....ahh, two years. Just a summer between 7th grade and 8th grade without playing kind of hurt my playing capabilities a bit.
Yeah, I'm not really fond of the idea of marching band (another reason I'm not going next year). It's not that it's too tough, it's just that it cuts into a lot of my time at home. I'm really needed at home...
Hmm, are you a good singer though? I could never sing in front of a lot of people. I would go as red as a tomato hehe...
You could still go back if you wanted to, but I guess it really depends whether you would rather stay with your friends, or play in band.

I used to rent my flute too. Then in 8th grade I had my mom actually buy it for me... funny thing is, that was my last year of playing it. My mom always thought my sister would end up playing the flute too... but my sister decided to go with the clarinet instead. So I still have my flute... it's in my room somewhere. The thing I liked about my flute was the size... I could carry it to school in my backpack or just leave it in my locker. Since I would never practice anyways I left it in my locker.

Chair placement? Kinda. For us it was that the better players tended to sit toward the end of the sections. But it wasn't always that way... I remember sitting on the end. But I know I wasn't very good. I hated having to play y myself... whenever I do something alone I screw up the rhythms... this goes the same for tap. But with a group I can do it fine. I hated testing... luckily in my two years in middle school, whenever we had testing, he never got around to the flutes! The poor tenor saxes had to go both years though, and some of the clarinets. But testing took so long that we were missing rehearsal time and he just never got around to us!

I suppose I could go back to band... but it just seems a little late now. Going into band my junior year and all. Plus it would screw up my already full schedule. And I don't need any more schedule issues. I'll just stick with choir I guess. Either way I get to go on the trip next year! That's something to look forward to! Am I a good singer? I don't think so. I'm kinda quiet and I don't think my teacher even knows me by name. I don't think I have a good singing voice (especially at the moment with my throat and all, oh that'll be fun tomorrow!) but that's hard for me to judge. I did used to sing solos in Italian in 5th and 6th grade though. But that was a while ago... and I don't think I'll sing any solos anymore! I'm just too shy to do that now... how I did it before I'll never know I guess...

We signed some kind of contract where with each payment we made for rentals, it went toward the actual price of the instrument. So in a certain amount of time, the instument would belong to us. The new company that took over Mars didn't believe a word of it though....bahh...oh well!
Your sister went for the clarinet? It is kinda nice that she is playing a different instrument though. It adds more variety! A flute layer and a clarinet player! Did you buy the clarinet too?
I had to lug my tenor saxophone around everywhere in middle school. It got really annoying, especially in the crowded halls, but I realized that I actually got a bit stronger from it. It was rather cool hehe...
I really didn't practice at home a lot, I never left it in the locker. It just seemed like an inconvenience to have to go get my instrument everyday from the band room, although I can't say it was very handy to carry it arond everywhere either!

You were sitting on the end? That's cool! I'm sure you were a great flute player! I know how it feels to mess up when you're a lone though. When I can't get a rhythm right, it's not like I can ask someone to help me with it. that's one of the reasons I didn't really like practicing at home, besides the fact that I couldn't find the time hehe...
...that's kinda funny....
The flutes were probably the best section of the whole band in my middle school! They always seemed to go first! The same thing happened to us, the tenor saxes. Sometimes we were the last section, and he would forget about us. It's not like I was complaing though hehe....I hated doing the tests. Having everyone stare at you play seemed to make my playing worse.

Schedule issues, tell me about it. It took 2 months before they were able to switch me out of that beginning band class. I really don't see anything wrong with going to band as a junior, but if it messes up your schedule then that's a different story. A trip? That sounds cool! Where are you going to go? I never went on any of the band trips. They cost too much money...
I don't think my band teacher knew my name for a long time. Whenver we did play during a test, he would point at me, and forget my name. Some kid would randomly yell "Jordan!", so that's how he would remember hehe...
It's hard to judge whether you have a good voice yourself. I'm sure you have a great singing voice!
....you're going to go to school tomorrow? Oh, by the way, how are you feeling? Do you still have a fever? Hopefully that's gone by now...
I'm not sure if the singing will help your throat a lot. It would seem as if it would make things worse.
Ah, you sang solos? Wow! I was a lot bolder in elementary school, but I remember it was embarassing for me to sing in our winter concert in 4th grade....and that was with a lot of people. I could never sing solo!
You must of had a good voice to be able to sing a solo!

I've no idea either, but posts from snowangel and 100marios were so long I skipped them (that's why I have no idea now).
Long posts somewhat intimidate me, if I can't read them fast enough to understand.

Yeah I think the flood control should be down a lil bit. I type fairly fast and my posts are pretty lengthy.Sometimes they are at least a minimum of 3 sentences.But I really hate that flood control because as soon as I finish a post and go to post another post the flood control kills

*took me 17 Seconds to write this Post*

Mods and higher don?t have that limit, I?d almost totally forgotten about it. o.o; It does help reduce the damage spammers can cause though. Let?s say one opened 20 or 30 windows, had them all ready, and start mass replying. It?d choke the server and get spam everywhere. =\

You is lucky, I type fast and I hate the stupid limit b/c it makes me mad that I can type fast yet I feel like I type slow because of the limit.

I don't type slow, it's just that my computer takes forever to load pages...it's so annoying, it keeps me from jumping into fast-paced conversations >_<

Oh... I forgot there was a limit too.. xD Then again, I never cared anyway. I never broke the limit or anything because it takes me so long to reply to things. ^^;
