What I'm hoping write (sorry, right) now is that the title isn't misleading.

What I mean is, as you write down stuff for your post or anything else, do you read as you write down words? Like "I read words when I write it down..." when you're writing the actual thing.
Hope you guys followed what I meant lol.

Anyway I don't usually do it but I'm increasingly getting addicted to this stuff. Hope it doesn't become a habit!

I always do haha, so like that I would check if the sentence would make sense instead of writing random gibberish :P

I do that both on paper and on the computer :)

I usually do read over what I type/write so I can double check a post or sentence for grammar errors or spelling mistakes, or just any mistakes I might make. Also I read it through to make sure I'm wording things right or don't saying anything that could be taken too harshly or wrong. Though even if I do check over my writing/typing , I sometimes do end up making a mistake and end up having to edit my post or writing. :( I tend to make more mistakes when I'm really tired and I can't concentrate on thinking about what I'm writing. I'm trying to look over my stuff more often so I can prevent this more though.

I think it is important to at least have a quick skim through. It can help pick up on some obvious errors.

I agree. I almost always proofread my posts before actually posting them, and I also usually re-read them after I post as well, just in case I forgot something. And, to answer the question, yes, I mentally read what I write as I write it. :P

Basically what vappy said. It is essential to at least skim on what i wrote and check for spelling errors.

But I have a habit of not checking for errors when I'm typing on my phone though. Cause I type too fast lmao

I try to re-read my posts more often before I post, instead of after it, but it's not a habit of mine yet. I sometimes notice pretty grave spelling errors or grammatical errors when I re-read a post long after I put it up and I have to edit the thing to not feel guilty about myself. I make sure the interpunction is correct, and sometimes made prettier. I check my conjugation as well, as especially strong verbs tend to go wrong with me. Also, with roleplays, I try extra to check the style: whether I can switch some sentence constructions to more verbose ones, or I can pluck through some erroneous repetitions, adverb clusters, split infinitives, progressive aspects, etcetera. I chop up long sentences into easily readable parts, and try to cluster words that belong to the same phrase.

I'll skim through what I type out before I send it, but not if it's a private message to a friend. Then there's no pressure and I'll just send it however it's typed because I can't be bothered to fix a typo or two. But I don't mentally read as I write/type. I think of the full sentence first, then put it down and move on. Never really occurred to me to read while I write.

I read all my posts at least twice over, and tend to spend 20–60 minutes on each, but I doubt that comes across.

...people don't read what they've written?

Even with me typing fast I'm still reading it as I go. It's hard to imagine not doing it. Even give a second or third re-read, depending on how much I've typed up per post, so I know if it sounds right and nothing's misspelled.

I rarely have to look at the keyboard, so I normally do watch the words go across the screen as I type. If I'm talking to someone offline, though, I usually look at them while I'm typing (no idea how I can type and hold a conversation at the same time, tbh).

I also proofread my posts to catch any mistakes.

I try to read as I post to make sure my post make sense, but many times I do tend to skip a mistake or two, usually typing errors or I might miss a word that I intended to include. At least 4 out of 10 post I make I have to edit due to spelling mistakes.

Typically yes, especially if it's a big or long post then I do 'preview post' a lot.

I am going to writ ethis post without looking at it before posting that way you can see why I always have to look at it before I actually submit it. when I don;t it tends to be grMMTICALLY INCORRECT, LOTS AND LOTS OF TYPOS, AND GOD KNOW WHAT ELSE HAPPENS. i CATCH SOME MISTAKES AS THEY HAPPEN BUT MOSTLY NOT.

HENCE MY NEEDS TO DOUBLE, TRIPLE, AND POSSIBLY )Actually usually) quadruple check my posts.

    So yeah.

EDIT: Oh my god this was a horrible idea.

I read as I go. I really hate it when I make a small spelling error or sound silly in a post, so I carefully skim what I've written as I'm writing. Sometimes I'll even say to myself out loud what I'm trying to type so I know that I've got my post up-to-snuff.
