OMG, This thread is so ridiculous. I mean, Who doesn't think before they post?
Yeah. I too agreed with that. But I think that I am able to get what the 'thread maker' wants to say after thinking a little over what he said. I think that he just wanted to know whether we just post 'lies' for the sake of increasing our post count. I really can't think of anything else that makes this thread meaningful if that's not the reason. :\

So on topic: Yup. I write what I think. I guess that's my answer. (No lies though! XD)

Let's go through how I make a post. When lurking, I'll spot a thread that I find interesting. I'll read the thread maker's post before forming in my head an idea of how I'm going to lay out my post. I'll read through all of the posts made in the thread to maybe help me remember something that I'd like to add, to see if I want to quote anyone, and to give me a better understanding on what kind of post to make. After that, it's down to this quick reply box where I spend an average of five-ten minutes typing. Here, I make a rough layout of my post before spending a lot of time deleting the most unnecessary sentences, changing the wording of them, and occasionally starting the post over completely. By the time I click "post reply," I've changed my post many times.

So do I think before I post? I'd like to think so. Do I overthink some of my posts? Yeah, but to me a post should be the absolute best is can be. So if I'm not going to think my posts through and make it to it's best, what's the point of posting at all?

I usually read a few posts before I do make my post. As for thinking about what to make my post about... yeah, you can say I do think before I post, but I lose track and go off to do something else and forget about what I'm going to post.

I try to think before I post. Sometimes, though, I go back and read my old posts and start to think something completely different than when I made the post. I also regret some of my posts, but those ones I did make a conscious effort to think before clicking on the "Reply" button.

When I don't like what I post, I just edit it.

I always want to fix any problems with my posts before posting, although sometimes I fail to spot out little errors.

I immediately edit my posts after I find one.

Yes... I am not after some erroneous post count... Btw what is thread about? Lmao:D

I think sometimes... It all depends. Sometimes I type a super ~*~*~*witty*~*~*~ reply without thinking, but sometimes I go through alot of 'what if's
Like 'what if people think I'm being dumb? What if people don't like that?' etc. I'm rather self concious on the internet.

It depends on where I'm posting or how serious the discussion is, really.

If I'm posting here in OVP for example, I'm more likely to ponder my reply, then type it out and revise it. If I'm taking the time out to let you all know my opinions, I'd better at least present them in a coherent way. If I'm posting in a board such as OT or the like, I'm less likely to really pay that much attention to what I'm typing. After all, it'll soon be lost in the deluge of posts that particular board experiences daily. XD;

nope. see what i mean?

that's a huge lie, i cannot help but think up my posts as soon as pos. my mind is constantly buzzing with possibilities of dialogue.

Silly thread. We all think whenever we make a post. We don't always think that much into it, but something has to go on in our brains that let's our fingers hit the right keys on the keyboard. The question should really be asking us how much effort we apply to our posts. About a month ago, I wouldve said I always think my posts through before I make any sort of impact on a thread. I'm just gonna say now that this would be a lie. For the last couple of months, my posts had no real quality feel to them. They were mostly one liners and to be completely honest, half of the time I wasn't posting anything near as helpful or detailed as I could have. When October came around though, I began to wonder why I wasn't trying that hard with my posts. Was it because I cared for post count more than the quality of what I was writing? Probably. I've sorta stopped caring about post count as a whole now though, and my posts are normally a paragrah or more. Opposed to one sentence, this is actually okay! I'm not going to try and pretend that a wall of text means you're posting something worth reading, but forums are there so people can communicate from all over the world. To create new friendships, you gotta tell them as much about yourself as you can, and common sense will tell you that you'll probably get more information by reading an entire page than just one line. I also try to apply intelligence and valid points to my posts, but I think we can leave those catastrophes out of the way for now, \o/.

If we didn't think before we posted, then we wouldn't post anything. Either that or it would be nothing to do with the subject.

Bit of a obsolete thread really.

But yes, in answer to the question, I do think before I post.

I'm always thinking about something before I post it. I usually know what I'm going to type out, but after I would go back and revise what I said, make the final edits and make the post. I never go a day without thinking about what I might say in a post because I want to make sure it is clear on its purpose or what I'm trying to say as well as making it understandable for all.

You see, even after typing this I went back to check what I had to say about this topic before making my post. It's really just a habit of mines that I started to do after a few months of being a member here. I would admit when I first used the internet much, my typing on what I had to say never mattered much until the beginning of this year.

Compulsively.
I often type up posts and then just delete them because I think they sound bad or I'm just too intimidated to post.

Or, I'll edit them to death. ):

[so I voted the third option XD]

Do you think that I do?

Of course I think before I post. It's pretty hard to know what to post if you haven't thought of it.
This is the kind of post that I was going to reply with, but someone already did it, so no sense in repeating what they said. :(

no you sillies. stop being analytical about this. i don't want to know if you actually THINK before you post, i want to knw if you worry about the consequences of your post. ie; is your post so idiotic that people will just mistake you for a troll?? or will it start a flame war???

I know what I'm allowed to post and what's against the rules, so I already have a brief idea of what I'm posting. After that, I'll just write about the topic and edit it once I've finished and read through it.

I think, but I underthink; I don't take the time to think that my more opinionated posts can come off rude.

Then I remember that I'm a guy who gives the youth tough love because sympathy isn't my specialty. :)

Sometimes, mostly when somethings really important.
