Does it bother anyone else when Pikachu makes noises when Ash talks?

Not really, Pikachu just wants to be part of the conversation. I believe Ash understands Pikachu to an extent so it's as if they are talking with one another. It would be one thing if Pikachu was interrupting Ash while he was speaking, but I really don't see that happen too much if at all.

Like right after Ash says anything Pikachu will usually go "Pika pika" or "Pkachu!".

Same with Dawn and Piplup.

Well it isn't just Pikachu and Piplup who reply to their trainers, it's just to show that the Pokemon understands their trainer.

You get used to it after having watched it for about 12 years

Gawd, where's my life >__>

No, it doesn't bother me. As a couple others said, Pikachu or other Pokemon do this so that they're involved in the conversation at hand, or are in agreement with their trainer.

Pikachu can sometimes get on my nerves, but Piplup was ten times worse. Piplup was one of the worst things in DP, it got way too much screentime. Why couldn't that little annoyance be more like Croagunk? <_>

What an odd thing to be bothered by.

They're agreeing with what was said, more often than not.

Their friends with their trainers and understand what's being said, more or less, so they're just throwing in their vote. ^^'' I think it's cute when Satoshi/Ash tries to reassure someone and Pikachu chimes in.

Never really annoyed me at all. It's just how pikachu is. Either that or I've just gotten used to it after all these years.

I honestly never even notice it anymore.

Thbe only on that does bug me enough is Wobbuffet. It's just so loud and annoying.

I don't mind Pikachu, but Piplup does annoy me, I wish Dawn would keep it in it's Pokeball.

Yes. Like shut up dude, you don't even speak English. I just hate when Pikachu speaks as a whole. Stupid attention seeker T____T

Haha, lol so true. It is odd how some of the Pokemon can't even say their names though.

Actually, that just shows how little you know about Pikachu.

It actually can speak in its own way, but it's more obvious in the Japanese version.

For example, it calls Kasumi (Misty) Pikachupi. The "ka-chu-pi" is how it renders "ka-su-mi." For the most recent example, see the episode near the end of Advanced Generation when Satoshi recieves the Kasumi lure.
Satoshi (Ash) is Pikapi. Pi-ka-pi is as close to "sa-to-shi" as Pikachu can get. You'll hear this one a LOT, especially if the two are seperated.

It's kind of insulting that you'd insist someone to keep quiet just because they don't speak your language. It's rude. I know these are just Pokemon, but would you say that to a human speaking something other than English to a friend who understands them?

Pipipi is how Pikachu says "to-ge-pi" and so on. You'll hear it when Togepi gets in trouble or goes missing and the crowd is searching for it. There are probably more, but those are the most obvious.

In short, Pokemon speak and close trainers understand them.

Also, Piplup is annoying, but Pochama's Japanese voice is hilarious. Much more boyish and less oddly highly-pitched. Give it a listen sometime, it's very cute.

Like most of the others are saying, I got use to Pikachu saying it since I've watched the show for ages now but when Piplup started doing it, I was getting a tad bit annoyed. Piplup started to act like Pikachu a bit in DP.
