Sequel of Durarara!!x2 Shou and Ten

Half a year after the turmoil that rocked the entire city of Ikebukuro, peace has once again returned to the city, and people are living each day normally. The high school students enjoy their days of youth as the strongest and most dangerous man of Ikebukuro works diligently. The informant plots (or plans) a new scheme and the headless rider is pursued by the cops as she rides through the night... But soon this normal will be cut short by the abnormal. Slowly but surely, the unknown will seize the city and face an all new storm.

The true pain is knowing I have to wait a cour for this show to get dubbed.

Damn you consistency! Though, admittedly, I do worry that I won't enjoy Ketsu as much as ten. I'm looking forward to it, but...well, who knows. All the pieces are there for an exciting season, and played right this could be the best of x2, so who knows.

DRRR Season 1: Wonderful start, second arc was boring
DRRR Shou: Terrible and completely out of focus in what seems to be the "main" story
DRRR Ten: Finally back to what I actually cared about. Animation was so-so but enjoyable.

So..... let's see what Ketsu has for us.

I'm pretty bummed.. stopped watching the first cour halfway and not even sure why. But the feel of the show was way too different compared to the first season and I didn't want to admit that to myself since I was obsessed with this series at first. Bleh. Hopefully Ketsu will push me to continue again.

I put it on-hold somewhere during Shou. Episode 8ish, I'm guessing. XD; So I have plenty of Durarara to catch upto, I guess. Here's to hope it ends well!

I'll be watching weekly as I've stayed caught up with Ten, but I have no idea what we'll actually get. Shou had a lot of plotlines that crashed together at the end, while Ten had far fewer plotlines that were much more closely related, yet still needed Shou's relative mess of plots to introduce them and their central characters. I'm thinking Ketsu will focus on a small handful since it seems Ten set it up for Ketsu to have a relatively laser focus, but I haven't read the LNs so I can't say that with much certainty.

I wait for the dub, but anyway...

This season had me at the scene where MIKADO FREAKING STABBED A PERSON. That is so unlike him. What happened to my sweet, innocent Mikado? ...And that's what hooked me. I'm looking forward to more dangerous Mikado scenes in Ketsu. Ten was impressive in showing how realistic I felt they took Mikado's change in character, so.

So we finally reach the point of no return.

We all know Mikado ain't killing himself but I'd prefer if he does because he's the most annoying character I've ever seen.

The climax somehow reminds me of the whole mess in HakoMaria's light novel (especially during the Cinema-arc). The fight between Shizuo and Izaya at this point... doesn't really matter to me, they should've decided to fight about 30 episodes ago, but whatever. Time to end this.

He's just... lame.

I think the author wasn't very sure of what exactly to do with him after reveling he was dollar's leader. Yeah, it was like, 'omg, Mikado, my innocent Mikadokun~~', and then he basically brought out of nowhere a whole new cast (see Season 2) because the Mikado he had on screen (or the novel) and the Mikado he wanted to actually create as a character were really apart from each other.

This coming from a fan of Izaya, so my words are probably worth sh*t lol

I dunno, I'm kinda on the same boat as Karnavaly. Mikado was fun as hell in Ten and the direction of Day You Laugh totally floated all of my proverbial boats.

Buuut yeah, still on episode one since the dub's finally out.

I really should consume some new anime before the season's out. Been eating so many sequels, lately.

I actually think Shou was pretty important in terms of buildup. And Varona. I actually wanted to see more Egor in Ketsu, too. He's my third favorite Newrarara, after Varona and Akabayashi.

I did indeed get very different vibes from x2. A lot more serious and violent, with all those near-death situations. And the whole thing takes place over basically just a few days.
