Thank you both. This isn't a new health condition by any means, because my grandfather has been going for regular blood tests for years now, and if he was in serious condition they wouldn't have let him out of hospital last week. But he's in a lot of pain, and my grandmother is near breaking point from the stress. Neither of them is exactly young either (she's 75 and he's 80) and my great uncle died earlier this year, and even if he wasn't...well, the most well-liked member of the family, death of someone close to you has a way of reminding you of your own mortality. Very frayed nerves right now all around, especially since they're a four hour drive away and my mother, as the eldest of their three children, is taking on all the responsibility. They're also resistant to moving back down here because they'd need a ground floor property - and those go very quickly - and the service charge on these kinds of places is outrageous...
