Evil Team Speculation

Every Pokemon region has evil teams...what do you think the antagonists this time around will be? What will their goals be? What would you like to see?

I have hopes for a Team Sol and Team Lunar duo. Because those are awesome names.

I'm with you. I think its very likely we'll see two teams, one worshipping the sun and the other worshipping the moon (or their representative mascot legendaries).

Ah yeeeeees, that'd be awesome, seeing two evil antagonistic, opposing teams again! I wonder, what do you think they would do? o:

Hopefully we will get two villainous teams with opposing ideas similarly to Team Aqua & Team Magma. I'd love to see Team Lunar and Team Solar! If it was just one team then it has to be Team Astral.

Whatever it is, I'd imagine it would involve an eclipse, since that's pretty much the only thing that can draw the Sun and Moon together. Perhaps an eclipse would awaken [insert relevant mascot Legendary here] and allow them to do their conquering the world thing?

The only downside to two Evil teams I can see only being able to face off against one or the other in a single version...but that's what the third version is for. That additional team adds a good story dynamic, too.

    Spoiler:

It's either this idea of the evil team(s) or a return to Team Rocket roots, since this is suppose to be Pokémon 20th anniversary, so expect lots of callbacks to Gen 1 in terms of the story formula.

We saw a lot of call backs for the past five generations, it's getting kind of old...
I rather see callbacks to Gen II and IV. Maybe Cyrus will return in time for DP's own 10th anniversary.

I do believe there will be a team (maybe two) , but I do not believe they will be "worshipping" the sun or moon. We were caught off when Team Flare wanted to create a weapon of mass destruction to, well, destroy things. It's possible GF might dive further into depth with these team(s) and will go further to reflect issues of today's world (I mean, the weapon in XY can be looked as a mirror to today's countries search for greater weapons of mass destruction). I like to believe that GF feels as if they know they're getting a bit repetitive when it comes to teams and is taking small steps to give them more depth and more complicated goals to achieve.

I'm likely in the minority, but I think it would be nice if we either had no evil team or one that played a minimal role. Team Flare last gen was horribly underdone and mediocre, and to date we haven't had a Pokemon game without at least one, and it would be sorta neat to change pace a bit.

If these games are set in an offshoot of Kalos, perhaps Team Flare will make a return and receive a little additional development, similar to Team Rocket's appearance in Johto? Would that be something people would be interested in, I wonder?

Personally I'd rather do away with Flare entirely and have two brand new teams, but it could be interesting to see them going after Pokemon a little more in-keeping with their name.

I'd like a villainous team with some differences

    - A team that does not use Golbat, Grimer or some other Gen 1 Poison Type in every single battle.
    - A team where the Grunts aren't generally bumbling or outright jokes. (Team Flare)

Now that's out of the way two separate teams similar to Ruby and Sapphire could be a great idea. Solrock and Lunatone (Or possibly Espeon and Umbreon) could be the signature Pokémon of the two respective teams.

I'd like to see a Female Villainous Team Leader too perhaps for the Moon Version Leader. She could have a Dark yet ethereally elegant look.

    Team Titan.

They are a group dedicated to the search for the "Great Giants" of the sun and the moon. Massive Pokemon who fought to control the two celestial bodies to either keep the earth covered in eternal night or day.

In each game they try to accomplish this, in Sun they go for day, in Moon they go for night. I don't know why they would want to do this, but to be honest, I'd love to see eternal night. The sun is one of my greatest enemies. (LUNAris. See that there?)

    Team Zodiac

Using their knowledge of the stars, the moon, and the sun, they'll want all people in the region to fall in line with what their star charts say. Of course, the stars will say that the leader of this team should be in charge of running the region, guiding its direction. They'll try to push people around, telling them that they're not suited to the lives they're living, that instead they should do what the team says is written in their stars. That might mean helping the team build something, give them money, whatever.

Basically a kind of Scientology group that uses astrology to give them some credibility. The followers can all believe in it, and maybe the leader, too, could be misguided and actually think it's for the good of everyone, but in the end everyone will learn to appreciate finding your own path, etc. etc.

I think Esper's idea seems like the best one to suit the games' theme, since star signs are sometimes also called "sun signs" and the moon is also used in terms for astrology, and I feel it all fits together.

    Team eclipse.
They want to destroy the sun/moon in order to let the other one reign eternally!!! (Depends on game)
They will have a humourus twang to them, Not too overdone like team flare, But something akin to Galactic.

Actually Ester, That sounds really good, and I would really enjoy having that as a game. It fits with the theme of the game, and It would be similar to team Plasma, my second favourite evil team!

I think that the legends might focus on controlling the fate of the world when together. The evil team might try to rewrite history. It'll fit with the anniversary actually...trying to change what happened in Gens I-VI.

I already imagine something based on Maya and Aztec somehow.
