I've often questioned my own sanity.
After all, my life seems like a dream mostly. A dream turned nightmare.
Sure, I may seem like the typical seventeen year old, but do normal seventeen year olds watch their mother do drugs? Or have witnessed their sister get hit be a car? I didn't think so. And I know my life does sound somewhat weird, I'll explain it in detail for you.
My name is Harris Mitchell, I was born August 23, 1992. I had two sisters, Jess who is twenty and Ruby, who was fourteen. My parents are Liz and Rob, a nurse and mailman, respectively. My family was never rich; we were often on the 'poor' side of things. I attended Goldman High, average school, well for what my parents could afford. I work part time at a butcher. Horrid place, I only do it to bring in some extra money. My sister Jess is studying to become a primary school teacher. We always knew she'd work with children, growing up she loved to take care of Ruby.
Ruby, the baby of the family. Adored by the entire family, everybody always saw her magnificence. She had the most beautify black hair. One day when she was running home, some pervert tried to force her in his car. She was petrified and sprinted, she just ran forward. She ran straight into the path of an on-coming 4WD.
Her funeral was two days after the accident. The whole family was there, all wearing black with a tissue in their hands. I stood by the door, afraid to get any closer in case Ruby got up and stared a hole in me. That's when Liz resorted to drugs; it was her release, her way of dealing with the pain.
Jess moved out and in with her boyfriend Corey, Rob started drinking, I turned to my friends Jubes and Sofia and Liz found drugs. My friends are always there for me, Jubes' real name is Xian, but we call her Jubilee, making fun of the fact that she dresses like the comic book character.
Sofia enjoys reading, she probably only enjoys boys more. She has had thee boyfriends, Greg, Tony and Alex. All complete brains. Sofia has that effect, she'll draw the intelligent people to her and they will get along perfectly. She is essentially the smartest person I have ever met.
Oh, I should have mentioned, I'm gay. Openly too, there are a few openly gay students at my school and surprisingly none of us get harassed. I've never dated anyone before, never felt attracted to someone so much that I wanted to.
